Congratulations, Marissa McCrary

Marissa McCrary serves in our headquarters office as a receptionist and administrative assistant. She has a rich heritage in the Church of the Nazarene (COTN) and has been following a call to ministry since she graduated from Ohio Christian University in 2020. In December of this year, she will complete a Master of Theological Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary.

She has been in a pastoral role for some time, serving as a Worship Pastor and Youth Pastor at the church where her father is the Senior Pastor: Indy Southside Church of the Nazarene.

We rejoice with Marissa and the McCrary family as Marissa was ordained as an Elder in full connection with the Church of the Nazarene this weekend at their District Assembly of the Indianapolis District. She is waiting on the Lord as she is pursuing a definite call to the preaching ministry.

Congratulations, Marissa!!

During the ordination service on Sunday evening, a choir of Nazarene pastors sang those incredible words of Charles Wesley’s great hymn, “And Can It Be?” Very, very few of us would be able to recite significant portions of a John Wesley sermon, but many of us can recite this theology-packed “sermon” written by Charles in 1738.

And can it be that I should gain an int'rest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! how can it be, that Thou, my God, should’st die for me?

He left His Father's throne above, so free, so infinite His grace; emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam's helpless race! 'Tis mercy all, immense and free; For, O my God, it found out me.

Long my imprisoned spirit lay fast bound in sin and nature's night; Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray, I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free; I rose, went forth & followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him is mine! Alive in Him, my living Head, and Clothed in righteousness divine, bold I approach th'eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ my own.
