More About “Journey Missions”
This last week, my time and attention was almost exclusively devoted to our once-a-year General Council meeting at our headquarters in Indianapolis. Then Monday and Tuesday of this week were consumed with following up on the many decisions that the Council reached. It was an amazing meeting, and I sensed the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit guiding our deliberations and determinations.
But that activity is why this week’s “Tuesday Brief” has turned into a “Wednesday memo.”

You may have indeed read the recent monthly Kerusso, but you may have not had time yet. In it, I wrote an article laying out a grand desire of mine regarding missions giving. And while I won’t be writing something about it in EVERY SINGLE Kerusso, nor EVERY Tuesday Brief between now and the spring of 2025, I did want to give it a bit more air time here at the outset of my visioning about it.
The core of my heart on the matter is this - - I KNOW OUR PE OPLE ARE G IVERS . And I know that there was a time when an EMC District gathering was a time to celebrate pooling our resources so that we could make a giant impact in the area of Global Missions.
Because of the gener o sity of EMC ’ ers … that ’ s YOU ALL … we were able to send 10 ’ s of thousands of dollars to our mission partners around the world every year . We sponsored digging clean-water wells; building local churches in Myanmar and elsewhere; and the purchase and/or construction of headquarters buildings in the Congo in Africa, and in Kaleymyo near Chin State in Myanmar. The only reason I know as to why this significant missions giving ceased at our conferences is that we stopped asking.
2025 Missions Giving
A New Plan
(Really, an Old Plan)

So let’s do it again! I am asking that every church pastor, and/or church leader would come to our Journey meetings in 2025 in our four planned locations with prepared and designated mission offerings.
Please bring a planned Missions Offering to : Salem , Virginia or Marshfield , Missouri Eloy , Arizona or Nampa , Idaho
A nd I ’ m going to boldly ask that each EMC church would decide to work between now and April of 2025 to bring AT LEAST $500 . Many of our churches will go far beyon d that. Plus individuals and families will be encouraged to contribute as well. In these ways, we will finish our Journey season next year with well over $45,000. And remember, 100% of these dollars will go directly into missions.
