January 23, 2024 This last weekend, I had the joy of attending one of our newest churches. Their heart is to LOVE GOD, and LOVE PEOPLE, and I had the privilege of feeling that love Saturday night. “The TABLE” is a fresh expression of church that includes all of the elements of a traditional worship service, handled in a more intimate way, and with some extra special elements added as well. The congregation sings, fellowships, prays, encourages, serves, studies, and gives. They laugh as they share joys and milestones … They cry as they bear one another’s burdens. Coffee, food, fellowship, and an interactive time of diving-into-the-sermon-together is an absolute fixture! Pastor Steve Miller and his wife Deanna, along with their kiddos do a great job of hosting, and the congregation pitches in together to enjoy a great Saturday night supper. This last week featured a huge salad, crockpot chili and all the fixings, gooey mac-n-cheese, plus some decadent dessert that was to die for - - some kind of banana, graham cracker & whip cream concoction that tasted soooo good and is probably banned in several states. They are currently walking through the powerful book of Romans, learning from God’s Word, Pastor Steve, and one another. This week they passed the third stop along the “Romans Road,” remembering that “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (6:23) I cannot tell you how excited I was to be able to attend. The church is just a few years old, but is already making an impact in the New Castle, PA, community in Christ-like service opportunities and evangelistic work. Thank you, Pastor Steve, & thanks to all of you who make up “The Table.” You all are a great example of the fact that a church is not a building! Buildings are great tools, but they are only tools. Churches are people … people committed to meeting one another, loving one another, and encouraging one another in the name of Jesus Christ. KEEP IT UP, FOLKS. KEEP LOVING GOD, AND LOVING THE PEOPLE OF YOUR COMMUNITY.
