February 13, 2024 The Superintendency in the EMC has a seasonal nature to it, especially for our three regional “Conference Superintendents.” The fiscal year for the denomination begins on July 1, so that is when budgets reset, and they begin planning their fall and early winter travel. We usually meet as a Cabinet of USA Superintendents sometime during the summer to review forms, evaluate procedures, and confer about areas of need around the conference. Then General Council meets in late September, and from that point until early February, they travel the country extensively, meeting with pastors and churches as they conduct Annual Church Conferences. Almost immediately after that season is over, they begin making their way to the regional district meetings we hold in various places around the country. This year, it will be Arizona in February; Oregon in March; North Carolina in April; and Texas in May. … are you tired yet? Then it’s time to do it all over again. All that said, we are excited to gather with our pastors and delegates in the SOUTHWEST in just a matter of days. Arizona City is the host church, and we have folks coming from Northern and Southern California, as well as Arizona, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. If you have somehow let the registration deadline pass you by for the Journey meeting to be held on February 22-23, don’t despair, BUT DON’T DELAY EITHER - The link to register for ANY location is HERE If you have questions, please reach out and ask. Scott Wade is a pastor, author, and weekly host of the podcast, “Casual Conversations.” Pastor Scott interviewed me in early February, asking my thoughts on what the church needs to hear in 2024. Starting with next week’s Tuesday Brief I’m going to begin a series that will center on one of seven thoughts or admonitions that I have felt for the church. These are not EMC-specific things, but thoughts I believe are applicable to the universal body of Christ. I look forward to sharing them.
