October 17, 2023 Ever since April of 2018 when the General Conference felt led to call me into the General Superintendency, Judy and I have sought the Lord about our residence. Being a Superintendent always involves a necessary level of flexibility. When first called to the office of Conference Superintendent, Judy and I were asked to move west to be closer to our churches in the Northwest and Southwest. Indeed, it has been very helpful for us to be in closer proximity to our congregations in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. We heard over and again from those local churches that the denominational relationship was enhanced by us being nearby. But we have always maintained the clear understanding that we are under the authority of the General Conference and General Council regarding our residence. We have always been willing to move if asked by the Council. In their discussions, the Council affirmed that the work of the International General Superintendent was being done well remotely, especially since my work involved nearly ½ the year in travel. I and Judy sensed that the Lord would have us remain in the West for a time while those church relationships continued to solidify. Rev. Wesley Mackey has now been the Conference Superintendent serving the West for these last five years, and has wonderfully established vibrant relationships with our churches there, and over the last many months, we have felt the Lord drawing us to relocate to the region near our General Headquarters. So, attempting to walk step by step under the Lord’s clear guidance, we have now successfully relocated to Indiana. It was difficult to leave dear friends. We have been in Idaho for 11 years, and have grown very fond of the mountains and the people of the Western US, but piece by piece, God confirmed to us that it was time to relocate. So as of October 5th, we have officially become Hoosiers!! Our phone numbers and email addresses remain the same, but our home is now in Indianapolis. We’d love to show you around if you’re ever in the area. And please do pray for us … moving at my age isn’t as easy as it was in my fifties. I’m sore pretty much every night. But we look forward to building new friendships and even stronger relationships with our churches throughout the Midwest and East.
