For many years, the EMC has enjoyed partnerships with two strong missionary organizations – World Gospel Mission (WGM), and One Mission Society (OMS). WGM is headquartered in Marion, Indiana, and OMS is headquartered in Greenwood, Indiana. Over the 77 years of our history, many EMC credentialed individuals and lay persons have entered short-term or long-term missionary service with both WGM and OMS.
We also have a cooperative relationship on both boards of directors. Our own Rev. James Coulston has served on the WGM Board of Directors for several years, and currently serves as the Recording Secretary of the Board. EMC Pastor Rev. Robert Perkins serves as the EMC liaison to the OMS Board.
World Gospel Mission mobilizes people to transform the world for Christ. Since 1910, they have been helping people find God’s best as they seek to live at the intersection of their passion and God’s heart In 2022, there were 446 workers serving in long-, mid-, or short-term roles with WGM in 32 different countries around the world. The organization benefits from partnerships with 82 various agencies or denominations.
From a recent report from Rev. Perkins. – “OMS [has a] strong commitment to engage the one to reach the many. The presidential leadership of OMS has transitioned from Dr. Bob Fetherlin to Rev. Jeff Edwards in mid-2022. The organization hired a Chief Operating Officer, this past year.
I shared this a few weeks ago … Please remember that the Francis Asbury Society is inviting interested folks to attend a oneday lecture on “Prevenient Grace.” The date is September 26, 2023, and the speaker will be Dr. Brian Shelton.
OMS recognizes God’s impact around the world through the hands of their willing missionaries There is recognizable fruit as a result of the work of their E.C.C. teams around the world. They have seen 220,762 decisions for Christ and 98,156 baptisms. OMS related ministries are carried out in more than fifty-five languages across some 78 different nations. More than 400 OMS missionaries are currently serving globally.”
