Really Good Reasons to Skip General Conference 2022 There are valid reasons why you might want to pass on attending General Conference in July. Let me list a few: 1. You don’t like people. There will be hundreds of folks that you haven’t been able to see face-to-face in quite a while, so if you prefer the quiet life, without having to actually talk to folks, you’d better steer clear.

2. Fun is not really on your short list. It’s better to not take the chance, because there will be loads of opportunities for fellowship, and maybe even a late-night musical jam session, or a group game of some kind. Not your cup of tea. And we’re planning some neat give-away drawings during most of our business sessions. Yuck!

3. You’re not sure about church every night. Tuesday through Thursday nights will have us turning from business to worship and God’s Word. Maybe you only love those daytime discussions. So, if that’s you. We get it.

Okay ... I’ll stop. 😊 From my chair, there aren’t any “really good reasons to skip.” I WANT YOU THERE! I want the opportunity to see you ... hear from you ... enjoy your company ... and worship the Lord with you. And the closer we get to July, the more I’m concerned that we might not have enough space for all of you who are able, and do want to come. I know that some of you, for reasons of finance, health, or distance, cannot come to Western Carolina. I understand. But if you ARE able, and are pretty sure you’re coming, PLEASE DON’T WAIT ANY LONGER TO REGISTER. The hotel rooms are going fast, and the deadline for us to adjust our room block is only a little over a month away. I DO think we are going to fill our block, but if not, the fact is we cannot continue to hold rooms that the Conference would have to pay for if they remain unused.

Lastly, our amazing kids and youth programs need to know early how many workers and ministers to arrange for so that our little ones and teens are properly cared for and ministered to. On page 4 you can read about DEEP MINISTRIES and their plan for a Kids Kamp during each of our business sessions and evening services. That kind of comprehensive care does not come without a great deal of planning. We must know early how many children to prepare for. Thanks for understanding, and for REGISTERING EARLY. It’s not a hard deadline yet, but those registering after April 25th may find that we’ve run out of space in banquets and kid’s ministry. Register now!!

Click the link above to register for the conference, including all children’s and youth activities, and the optional banquets or email: kparsons@emchurch.org.

All voting adults coming to General Conference will pay a $45 registration fee.

Voting adults are either: a) Members of the Conference (all active OR retired credential holders other than Local Preachers), or b) All delegates 18-years or older, representing a local church.

Non-voting guests such as spouses, children, colleagues will need to register but are not required to pay the $45 fee.

CHILD/YOUTH ACTIVITY FEE: A staffed nursery, Kid’s Kamp (pre-school - 5th grade), and youth activities are optional for a $15/child activity fee with a $45/family maximum.

Register your child(ren) using the GC2022 Registration form. The activity fee must be added to your total registration. Register early, space is limited.

OPTIONAL BANQUETS: A Ladies’ Lunch and a Men’s Breakfast are available for a $15/ person upcharge to your Ridgecrest meal ticket and will be collected by EMC at the time of your conference registration. The banquets are geared to adults, but are open to children 5 years or older with a parent. To reserve a banquet seat, ll in the appropriate section on the registration form.

Seats for each banquet will be lled on a rst-come, rst-serve basis.

Your General Conference Registration is NOT COMPLETE until your payment has been received.

2022 Conference Speakers Dr. Ed Stetzer serves as the Dean of the School of Mission, and Leadership at Wheaton College, and as Executive Director of the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center.

He will be teaching and preaching in two conference sessions.

Lois Tupyi is the Executive D i re c t o r o f Lo v e I N C o f Treasure Valley. Lois is an inspiring speaker and educator for the Biblical call to wholistic help. She will be sharing at conference on how to build resources in people, not just give resources to people.

Dr. Jim Harriman has been a m e m b e r o f Th e Fra n c i s Asbury Society since 1997 and currently serves as Director of Latin American Ministries. He is an ordained elder in the EMC and will be preaching in two conference worship services.

Jonathan and Lisa Moore serve together in both music and youth ministry. They are currently planting a brandn e w m i n i s t r y, C i t y S c a p e Church in Columbus, GA. They will be leading worship during one of the evening services and serving throughout the conference as youth ministers. Their plans for the youth include outdoor activities, great music, teaching and more.

DEEP Ministries - Kid’s Kamp Shan and Dan Rose, along with their DEEP Ministry team, will be leading and teaching “Kid’s Kamp” for infants through 5th grade children during General Conference 2022.

Since 2003, DEEP Ministries has been used by God to come alongside missionaries and Christian organizations to offer helping hands, prayer, and encouragement. The Roses and their team of servants have conducted camps for all ages, are familiar with the facilities at Ridgecrest and came highly recommended by the Ridgecrest conference center staff. At the heart of everything they do is evangelism, building the Kingdom of God, ful lling the Great Commission and God’s plan for our lives.

Kid’s Kamp will be open during each business session and worship service during General Conference.

*Openings in Nursery and Kid’s Kamp are Limited.

GBWM is Preparing for GC2022 Submitted by, Bill Walker, General Board of World Missions, Chairman

Tracking and Anticipating: We are getting down to the final stages of preparation for the 2022 EMC General Conference! The GC has grown increasingly international in flavor over the last two decades. During each conference, we have delegates from our sister conferences around the world: Mexico, Myanmar, Christ for All Nations, and our youngest conference, Asia Pacific. We look forward to this, and hope to add even more conferences in the years to come, as God leads.

Delegates from Global Conferences: The reason the General Conference is wonderfully international is because the EMC is not just an American denomination anymore. There are more EMC congregations outside the USA than inside. God has given us a truly global spiritual family, and we know you will make our EMC brothers and sisters from around the world feel welcome when they visit here in the United States.

Please be sure to take advantage of the opportunities to visit with our international delegates. Learn about their families, cultures, ministries, joys, and hardships. Chat between sessions, invite them to coffee or tea at Clouds Coffee Shop (a real happy place at Ridgecrest Conference Center), and sit with them at mealtimes. Be proactive! General Conference covers four days, but those moments will flee away.

Several factors can hamper our delegates this time around. While the Discipline permits 10 delegates per affiliated conference, we must limit the number of delegates that EMC USA can financially sponsor.

Additionally, the leaders from at least two of our sister conferences need to obtain VISAs to enter the U.S. Please pray with us that these may be approved!

GBWM Session: We are excited about the opportunity that the Board of World Missions has at this General Conference to highlight the international nature of the EMC and celebrate our cultural and ethnic diversity.

You won’t want to miss this special 2-hour segment on Wednesday afternoon of the Conference. Be sure to register for General Conference 2022 and reserve your Ridgecrest lodging (separate items).
