The Kerusso – March | 2020 Kerusso (Greek): “To publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done.”

Worshipping with our Partners in Myanmar This year’s trip to our Myanmar Conference was so exciting! Three ministers made the trip who had never been to Myanmar before. Along with Bill and Lisa Walker, and Max and Judy Edwards, who returned for another visit, USA Conference Superintendent Kevin Brouillette, and pastors Donna Lucas and Rick Sharpless filled out this year’s delegation. The group spent the first few days in the international city of Yangon, worshipping with the local church there on Sunday, February 2nd. The church leaders host two Sunday worship services, the first being conducted in one of the native languages of Chin State, and the second service (designed as more targeted outreach) uses the national language of Burmese. Both were wonderful experiences connecting with amazing men, women, and young people. Bill and Max shared the Word of God in the two services. The first few days on the other side of the globe found us attempting to acclimate to the massive time change. Sunday was followed by two full days spent on the road visiting villages and missional outreaches of the Yangon church and/or the Myanmar Conference. One of our stops was at a house church in Kungyangon, pictured to the right. The believers there have suffered through governmental and spiritual opposition, and are persevering for the sake of Christ and the gospel. Pray for protection, and for divine favor among those in authority in the province, so that the church can continue to meet, grow, and witness to others about the love and truth found in Jesus Christ. On Wednesday, the delegation flew from Yangon to near Chin State (where most of our churches in Myanmar are located) - into the city of Kalaymyo. We spent time on Thursday in nearby villages, meeting local churches and leaders. Then Friday and Saturday were full days of teaching and training in separate men’s and women’s seminars. Judy, Lisa, & Donna spent the seminar days teaching, investing in, and relating to the women of Myanmar, deeply enjoying fellowship with these special ladies, built around an exploration of the truths found in the Word. Kevin, Bill, & Max shared extensively with the men of the conference, teaching theology, holiness, and sold-out devotion to God. Lisa Walker presented the Sunday school lesson on Sunday morning to about 110 children, and the Ordination service that afternoon was a powerful time of worship and dedication. Our partners in Myanmar are standing for Christ in a spiritually dark place, and need our prayers. We must come along side them, holding up their hands as they fight to bring light and life to their country.
