Mexican Evangelistic Mission (MEM) Conference Session 2019 The EMC has been in partnership with the “Mexican Evangelistic Mission” (MEM) from its very beginnings. The MEM was founded in 1926 and has been a lighthouse for the gospel in Mexico for nearly 100 years. Dr. Ezequiel B. Vargas was present in Kansas City in November of 1946 when Dr. J. H. Hamblen was elected as the first General Superintendent of the EMC. During the first decade of its existence the EMC recognized MEM as a District, and then in 1957 the MEM was officially recognized as the first “Mission Conference” of the EMC, with Dr .Vargas as its first elected Superintendent. The MEM meets annually for fellowship, vision casting, and any necessary business. The most recent conference was held in Hildago de Parral, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, from July 1-5, 2019. A 6-person USA delegation attended this year, made up of Dr. Leroy and Kay Lindsey, Revs. Bill and Lisa Walker, and Rev. Max and Judy Edwards. We were most warmly welcomed by our Mexican brothers and sisters, and by General Superintendent, Prbo. Isaias Flores Cardenas and his wife Elva. The sessions which spanned five days provided many delightful opportunities for interaction and encouragement. Delegates and pastors from all over the MEM came together to report on their activities, and to make decisions for the future. The conference continues to address what it can do to revitalize involvement in the Life and Truth Bible Institute in Torreon. There are new efforts being employed to broaden the scope of the Institute to involve some distance-learning opportunities for people who cannot come to a residency-based program. Superintendent Flores was a capable moderator and chairman. This was his first time in that role, having been elected to the Superintendency just last year. Dr. Leroy Lindsey was the featured speaker, presenting hours of solid teaching in daily workshops on the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit, as well as preaching in two of the four evening services. EMC International General Superintendent Max Edwards preached in the other two evening services, assisted by Rev. Bill Walker who did a great job translating. Both Rev. Walker, who serves as chairman of the EMC’s General Board of World Missions, and Superintendent Edwards were asked to share a report of their activities and vision with the conference during one of the daytime business sessions. Rev. Lisa Walker was an amazing guide, assistant, and translator as well, having served in Mexico for years with her husband Bill as EMC Missionaries. Judy Edwards, and the EMC Prayer Department would ask that you please be in continuing prayer for the MEM Conference, its leaders, and for their witness for Christ as the only hope for the world!

2020 Myanmar MEDS Trip - January 31st - February 11th The EMC General Board of World Missions in cooperation with the EMC Asia Pacific Conference, is planning a Medical Evangelistic Dental Surgical (MEDS) missions trip to Myanmar for February of 2020. They are planning to serve the people of Tahan located near the EMC Myanmar headquarters. They will be supplying blood sugar and blood pressure testing, dental extractions, minor surgeries, stitches, and pharmacy type needs. Medical professionals are needed as well as non-medical helpers to provide support. The GBWM is praying for at least 6 servants from the USA EMC. The proposed itinerary includes a departure date of Friday, January 31st, attending the worship service on February 2nd at the Yangon church, 3-4 days MEDS in Tahan, joining the worship service in Tahan on February 9th, and departing for home on Tuesday, February 11th. The cost of the trip is $4000 and you will need a valid passport that does not expire until after August 11, 2020. Please contact Rev. HOPE 61 Special Offering - Sunday, August 11, 2019 Hope 61 is to help free people from the bondage of human trafficking. No one should have to live as a slave under someone else. We need to help these men, women and children escape to live a life with hope and freedom. But helping comes with a price. The EMW has had the 11th of every month designated as WEAR BLUE DAY for several years in an effort to bring awareness about human trafficking. In August 2019, the 11th falls on a Sunday. We are asking that a special offering be received on August 11th, designated toward the EMW’s Hope 61 project. Please join us in the fight against human trafficking. Family Camp @ Big Lake, Arizona Submitted by Rev. Debra Miller Camping at Big Lake, AZ this year was a bit different. The Southwest Camp decided to try a new experience for our Family Camp. For the thirty-seven in attendance the cool mountain air at 7500 feet in elevation was quite a break from our usual church camp. But Did You Die? was the theme for the week, taken from Romans 6:7, “For he who has died has been freed from sin.” This year we added mountain biking and unicycling led by Phil and Debbie Mumme. We had fishing at the lake and the stream, where lots of crawdads were caught but no fish. There was also swimming in the creek, and campfires in the evening after chapel.
USA Conference Superintendent Wes Mackey brought 3 nights of wonderful messages on giving our lives completely to God and living for Him. The 4th night the Holy Spirit fell and God moved in our hearts. There was an hour at the altar with the first song, before we even began the message through the Word. The fifth night began with a love and joy that we have not seen in our young people for a long time. May the love of God continue throughout the years.
Jr. Camp @ Indian Cave Youth Camp, Danville, VA

Kevin Brouillette This year’s Junior Camp was a wonderful time of sharing the love of Christ with some beautiful children and connecting with sister EMC churches. James and Melissa Burks, along with a team of Crosslink EMC youth, led in worship and teaching. Lesson topics were, I Am Created, I Am Chosen, I Am His, I Belong to Christ, and I Am Called, using the Biblical examples of David, Ruth, Boaz, and John. God clearly worked through the worship and teaching of His word as there were more than 20 new converts to Jesus this week. Praise the Lord! One of our teens testified that she had attended church for a long time but never really committed her life to Christ. What a powerful testimony of God’s working during camp this week!

Indian Cave Senior Camp, Danville, VA Submitted by, USA Conference Superintendent, Rev. Kevin Brouillette The theme for Senior Camp 2019 was ‘Identity” based on the book by Pastor Eric Mason. The week’s lessons centered on our relationship with God. We discovered that we are never invisible to Him and because of Jesus we are never disqualified. Then we talked about being called into ministry, by serving the Lord and serving others. As Jesus followers, we are called to be faithful and courageous in sharing God’s love with those around us. Pastor Russ VanNest gave a daily challenge for missions. Professor Ben Williamson taught and encouraged us by using Biblical examples of Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Peter. God moved in many hearts. What a privilege to pray with several young people who were feeling called into full time Christian ministry. Praise God for the EMC and Indian Cave Youth Camp for continuing to provide a place for young people to find Christ and seek His call upon their lives. A heart-felt thank you to all of the parents, leaders, pastors and lay people who invested in making both the Junior and Senior camps a success.
