January 16, 2024 (Part 3 of 3) This week's Tuesday Brief concludes the 3-part celebration of the EMC’s founder - Dr J.H. Hamblen. In reading his autobiography, I have been inspired and thankful for his sacrificial commitment to Biblical truth that led him to exit the “Old” Methodist Church in the mid-1940s. I’ve been encouraging everyone to purchase a copy of his informational and inspirational book. You can acquire the paperback edition from our office at a discount of 50% off, making it only $7.50. We have a few hardbacks left for $20 each as well. Reach out to the office by email at publications@emchurch.org or by phone at 317-780-8017, and we will get copies on their way to you promptly.

Here are excerpts from Dr. Hamblen himself, found on pp. 122-125 “Evangelicals everywhere believe that sin is deadly and brings eternal retribution and punishment, unless repented of, turned from, and blotted out by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The Evangelical Methodists join their brethren in affirming that by faith and faith alone are men saved from their sins and rescued from the terrors of an eternal hell. “… Evangelical Methodists oppose evil wherever they find it. They believe in justice as between management and labor and stand vigorously for human freedom, for the rights of men, for racial fairness together with racial integrity, and against every enslaving, debauching, and besmirching instrumentality that aims its vicious poison at the bodies, the minds, or the souls of men. “The Evangelical Methodists refuse to desert such Christ-taught and heavenly-sent doctrines as Holiness and the second coming of Jesus, simply because fanaticism and Pharisaical bigotry have claimed them as their own. So long as they are Bible doctrines, the Evangelicals stubbornly claim them … On the subject of stewardship – “If we study this theme from all the angles, both in the Old and New Testaments, we will find that God unquestionably teaches that the tithe, as a minimum, should be given by each Christian for the support of God’s work. … Too many people think of stewardship and tithing as simply a method to raise money to pay church bills, pay the pastor’s salary, support missions, and so on … [yet the real motive is] to establish a life principle … of putting God FIRST.” Amen, Dr. Hamblen. Amen. Thank you for your service and for following Christ in true heart holiness.
