North Place Design Project, Cheltenham

North place is a topographically flat car park located in central Cheltenham. The site has great potential as it is in close proximity to the newly developed Brewery Quarter and the town centre. However, the site is currently divided by a road and is overlooked by residential buildings to the north of the site.

The project requirements for the site were extensive and deliberately changed our design skills to incorporate all the many different elements. We had to keep the same volume of carpark spaces (not exceeding two floors below ground). We had to add an additional 200 bicycle store spaces, as well as extensive office/ work/apartment square meters.
I used first created my design on sketchup to work out the correct square meters for the different elements. I then put the sketch up document into Twinmotion to add all the vegetation and people for my final visulisations.

This project was about designing two retention ponds to hold the sites water run-off. We also had to specify the shape and size of the resulting mounds from the cut and fill method we used. The site is relitavly flat but has a gentle gradient we had to work into our pond and mound contors.
