Welcome to our Cornwall Playhouse stage programme. It’s fitting to open with that wordwelcome - following news that Hall for Cornwall has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre’ award.

T he award is shining recognition of our staff, most especially our Welcome Team and volunteers, who bring more than 300,000 people through our building each year - smoothing your experience with warmth, smiles, encouraging words and helping hands.

T his accolade also serves as a reminder that we’re not quite like all the rest: as the only Cornish large-scale indoor theatre, we’re here for everyone in our region - one and all - and our stage programme reflects that.

In these pages you’ll read about the homegrown triumph of our Christmas pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk , with Edward Rowe ticking off a bucket list role as The Dame amongst a diverse cast and crew studded with talent from Cornwall, the West End and beyond. It’s festive fun for all the family, oh yes it is.

Looking ahead, we prepare for top flight dance to circus theatre with appearances from Ockham’s Razor, Jasmin Vardimon and Matthew Bourne. Meanwhile Strictly star Johannes Radebe swaps dance shoes for thigh-highs with a new musical production of Kinky Boots from ROYO, with whom we co-produced Fisherman’s Friends The Musical

We’re also presenting work from English Touring Opera and Welsh National Opera, a cornucopia of Comedy talent and a growing range of live music. Truly something for everyone - dig in, enjoy the shows, we can’t wait to welcome you in soon.

WHAT’S ON – DARVOSOW

CHICAGO, the “sexiest musical ever” (Metro) is back in Cornwall in 2025.

“Murder, greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery and treachery... all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts” So begins the international multi-award-winning musical, CHICAGO

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.
