principles, whilst welcoming children of all faiths (and none). 2. To enable each child to reach their potential in academic, cultural and sporting areas whilst providing them with a foundation to develop a love of learning and curiosity about the world around them.

Our Vision Our vision is to be the Prep School of choice in Birmingham (3 months to 16 years) whilst maintaining academic excellence and broadening pupils’ social, emotional, technological, cultural and sporting experiences. We are ambitious for our future because we are ambitious for our children – and we want to always provide both the environment and outcomes for them and their parents. We have a firm focus on both the present and the future.

3. To enable each child to develop socially and emotionally into resilient citizens, displaying courtesy and compassion to each other as members of a community. Our Objectives are supported by our 3 strategic pillars: 1. Pupils’ achievement To enable each child to reach their potential in academic, cultural and sporting areas and to develop both a love of learning and a curiosity about their world. 2. Pupils’ personal development To enable each child to develop socially and

Our ethos At Hallfield we believe that a child’s academic potential and their individual best can only be reached within a community that promotes a strong sense of self-worth, wellbeing and happiness, and

learning experiences and developing attributes that will help them to succeed, such as being creative, collaborative, organised and resilient. To this end, we regularly review and develop our curricular and co-curricular offering to provide the very best to our pupils. We believe our diversity is a strength and promote respect and understanding amongst all those in our community.

Arrival and Departure Saying goodbye to your child can, initially, be distressing for both parent and child. During your child’s induction to Nursery with their key person, a plan will be agreed regarding how you feel happiest to leave your child with a member of staff

Hallfield First (THE NURSERY)

“At Hallfield we nurture the whole child to reach their full potential”

When leaving your child in the morning please pass on any relevant information to the staff team, this can be verbally or shared via the diary. A member of staff will sign your child in on the register. On collection, staff are always available to give feedback on your child’s day; how they have been and the activities they have taken part in. In addition to this, further information about your child’s day can be found in the diary. Seesaw is used to share pictures and observations of the children, across the week you will receive one long observation and at least one memory from your child’s week, however, we do always endeavour to share as much as possible with you.

Children will only be released to parents or authorised family members or friends. We will require either a photograph or password in advance, if there are changes to collection. This forms part of our safeguarding procedures. Before entry to Hallfield First parents will meet with the Hallfield First management and key person to discuss and record the needs of your child. A plan for settling the child into the Hallfield First setting will then be decided. Parents are welcome to stay with their child for a short period on a first visit and take part in activities. This gives both the child and parent the opportunity to speak with and get to know the staff who will be involved with their child’s care. A visit where the child is left for a short period is then recommended, allowing the child time without their main carer, while giving them an opportunity to get involved in activities and spend time with their key person. When leaving your child for a full session we advise you give a kiss and a cuddle and tell them that Mummy or Daddy will come and collect them later. Leaving an upset child can be unsettling for both child and parent but the settling in period will be successful if consistent methods are used and the child is given time to get used to their new environment, with an understanding that their parent will return shortly. Hallfield First welcomes parents to telephone at any time to check that their child has settled. If at any time the nursery staff are concerned about your child, they will contact you promptly.
