In The Gallery: Michael Mills

In my mind life has been a series of bullet points. I see things in stages. I don’t have a cookie cutter system, my paintings never quite start the same, I may tint, sketch, under paint… who knows?

That’s what makes art fun for me!

I grew up on Navy Bases located in both the West and East Coasts and a few points in between. I have always loved the ocean, it’s home for me.

When I was younger I wanted to be an Architect. I believe this comes out in my lighthouse paintings.

Years ago, I was a sports artist specializing in Golf Courses, basically landscapes. I took a break from Art.

I’m a proud member of Oil Painters of America, I am an oil painter. I bounce from Studio to Plein Air Painting, I get lost in both!

As the MGM Movie Studio logo reads behind the lion, “Ars Gratia Artis”, (“Art for art’s sake”), is my motto, (Thank you Captain Gator). I paint for pure joy and happiness… I’m grateful and blessed!!
