YOUR GUIDE TO GENEALOGY

Tracing your family’s roots back through generations will help you learn where your relatives came from, who they were, and the accomplishments they achieved. By coming into any of our five library branches you will have access to Ancestry Library Edition, the most popular online genealogy resource available to those working on their family research. This database provides billions of records in census data, vital records, directories, photos, and much more information from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Germany, and many other countries. Your Hall County Library card is the key that provides you with remote access to the two online databases HeritageQuest and MyHeritage Library Edition. HeritageQuest also provides access to U.S. Census Records, U.S. Indian Census Rolls, and a wide variety of local histories, historic maps, plus many more international resources. The MyHeritage database delivers billions of international historical documents from over 48 countries, millions of historical photos, public records, and other additional resources.

Additional resources are available at the Sybil Wood McRay Genealogy & Local History Collection located at the Gainesville Library Branch. Here you will find over 13,000 books featuring historical records and indexes for records of births, marriages, wills, cemeteries, and county histories. The collection follows our immigrant ancestors as they arrived on the U.S.’s eastern shore and accompanies them along the migration paths in their new homeland.

In The Gallery:

Brittany + Morgan

In our collaborative exploration, we embarked on a journey fueled by boundless creativity and mutual curiosity As artists with distinctly different styles, we sought not to impose an end goal Our divergent techniques and perspectives converged into play The resulting creative exchange was not defined by constraints but by a shared passion for discovery. We played until we were content, allowing our individual strengths and idiosyncrasies to intermingle and transform.

Divine Grind Collaborative (Brittany + Stacey)

As artists, we draw inspiration from our shared experiences and the beauty we discover in the natural world. Our creative journey is a melding of Brittany's extensive career as an art educator and Stacey's newfound expression through visual arts Our art is a reflection of the profound connection we share Each piece we create is a dialogue between our individual styles and inspirations, resulting in a fusion that captures the essence of our collective experiences and the natural beauty that stirs our souls Through our collaboration, we aim to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world, inviting viewers to join us in discovering the beauty that surrounds us and the limitless possibilities of artistic expression We transition fluidly between styles, with works ranging from the abstract to the narrative Our process is simultaneously exploratory, interpretive, and spontaneous

Morgan Auten

As an artist I have chosen a language of light, color, edges, weight and shape All of these come together to create a dialog that is arresting to the viewer The construction of different layers creates color fields of expressive geometric abstraction that are both powerful and delicate There is always something under the surface in my paintings, something that makes the viewer pause over the subtleties and consider what has been sacrificed. My work expresses the choices made when struggling between the artistic self and the self that exists outside of the studio as a woman, mother, wife, and teacher.
