Your safety on the mountain is extremely important to us at Yellowstone Club. In order for us to keep you safe, it is important to adhere to the boundaries and guidelines created by Ski Patrol based on what we gauge as safe. This Presidents' Day Weekend, there were Members and/or guests skiing in Closed Areas. Two types of closures exist: Avalanche SKI PATROL Closures and Ski Area Boundaries. Both of these areas are closed for important mountain safety reasons and Yellowstone Club has a zero-tolerance policy for these violations. Any violation will result in the loss of skier privileges for the season.

THURSDAYS WITH HANK & NASTAR RACE UPDATES: Train with Olympian and former World Champion, Hank Kashiwa. Join Hank for these weekly group clinics, open to all ages and abilities! Build friendships and improve your technique, while developing skills and race tactics that could shave valuable seconds from individual Member Series results.

Avalanche closures are in place to keep skiers and riders out of hazardous unpatrolled terrain, including avalanche terrain. YC Ski Patrol monitors the snowpack to ensure the safety of skiers and riders.

Our avalanche terrain is controlled with explosives to reduce the risk of avalanches; however, there are areas that remain closed for safety.

Certain closures remain throughout the season until the conditions warrant opening them. Other areas of the mountain are considered permanently closed avalanche terrain.

The self-timing NASTAR course will be set up from Thursday through Sunday each week. The NASTAR Ski Race will be held on Family Tree on Pioneer Mountain. Join Hank Kashiwa on Thursdays from 11:00am - 1:00pm to improve your ski racing technique.

Ski Area Boundaries are another type of permanent closure that exists around the mountain to safeguard skiers and riders. Ski Area Boundary signs mark the terrain managed by Ski Patrol. Areas outside the boundary are not swept or patrolled and are considered backcountry terrain and are only accessible through backcountry gates (e.g. Cedar access gate at the bottom of Namaste). Uncontrolled avalanche conditions and many unmarked hazards exist outside of the ski area boundary.

Ducking ropes and skiing closed areas are major violations of the Skier Responsibility Code. Avalanche safety is a top priority of YC Ski Patrol and countless hours are spent working hard to ensure the mountain is safe for everyone to enjoy. Violating closures not only puts oneself at risk but also poses potential risk for other skiers as well as ski patrol. Please respect our closed areas as it is of the utmost importance in keeping our mountain safe. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
