OHA Annual Report
President’s Report

It’s been another energising and impactful year at the OHA, marked by momentum, innovation, and meaningful progress. As we reflect on the past 12 months, I’m proud of the way our community continues to evolve and give back, guided by a shared commitment to supporting one another and staying connected across generations, geographies, and life stages.
At the heart of our efforts has been the implementation of the OHA Strategy (2023–2025), which has shaped our objectives and sharpened our focus. You’ll find the full strategy published on page 13 of this report. It reflects our vision of a connected, inclusive alumni community and has guided the delivery of both established programs and new initiatives that bring that vision to life.
We continue to deliver value to our members through our established suite of programs and events, while also introducing new opportunities that reflect the evolving needs of our alumni. The upcoming establishment of the Young Alumni Sub-Committee will bring together a dedicated think-tank of recent graduates to help shape initiatives that reflect their interests and aspirations, ensuring the OHA remains dynamic, inclusive and relevant. This initiative will also offer our emerging Young Alumni valuable opportunities for professional development and a pathway into future leadership roles within the OHA Council.
We’re also thrilled to launch OHA Ignite, our new entrepreneurship program designed to empower bold ideas and early-stage alumni ventures. With seed funding, mentorship, and the support of our global network, OHA Ignite is a powerful example of how we’re investing in the future of our community.
Our events calendar continues to thrive, with highlights including the Young Professionals Networking Event, the Haileybury Rendall School Dinner in Melbourne, and our upcoming Signature Events series featuring the Sursum Corda Business Leaders event, Mornington Peninsula Luncheon, and OHA Golf Day. These moments of connection are a testament to the enduring bonds that unite our alumni community.
As we look ahead, I’m excited about the continued growth of our programs and the opportunities they create for our members. Whether through professional development, community grants, or leadership pathways, the OHA remains committed to supporting you wherever life takes you.
On a personal note, I will be relocating to London to pursue an exciting new chapter in my career. While this means stepping back from my role as President of the OHA, I remain incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together as a passionate, purpose-driven team committed to our OHA community.
I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to outgoing Councillors Melissa Allen and Zara Scammell, whose leadership in establishing the Hearts on Fire program and championing the voices of our Young Alumni will leave a lasting legacy. To all our Councillors and our hard-working OHA Office team, thank you for your dedication, creativity, and care. And to our incoming Councillors, welcome! We’re excited to have you join us and look forward to the fresh perspectives you’ll bring.
As always, we encourage you to reach out, share your story, and Stay Connected—I know I will be!
Ms. Millie Hogben (OH 2013) President
Treasurer’s Report

The Old Haileyburians Association derives the majority of its revenue from membership fees paid by families enrolling their children into Haileybury. The payment of a membership fee on enrolment provides the student with ongoing life membership of the OHA.
Income is also derived from the following sources;
• Events (including reunions, business events, sporting events etc)
• Sponsorship
• Dividends from investments
• Membership sales
The OHA aims to significantly subsidise the price of events for its members. Investment in our members is at the forefront of the Council’s decision making and this investment is inclusive of but not limited to;
• Website development
• Brand awareness
• OHA week
• Programs and initiatives such as Relocation Bursary, Community Grants, Entrepreneurship programs etc.
• OHA Clubs.
In 2024/25, the OHA recorded a surplus of $16,000, with the major increase in expenses being OHA Clubs, Relocation Bursary payments and OHA week.

Why We Exist
The vision for the Old Haileyburians Association is to foster a deeply connected and inclusive community— one where every member feels valued, supported, and engaged.
We exist to create meaningful pathways that provide opportunity, facilitate connection, and strengthen the lifelong bonds between Haileyburians, no matter where in the world they may be. Our mission is to be recognised as one of the leading school alumni organisations in the country, achieved through a rich offering of services, events, and initiatives that keep our members connected.
Our values—collaboration, support, innovation, and respect—are rooted in the principle of inclusivity and guide everything we do as we continue to nurture and grow our vibrant community.
Once a Haileyburian, always a Haileyburian.
OUR VISION
To foster a deeply connected and inclusive community - one where every member feels valued, supported, and engaged.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
2024/25 was an extremely exciting period for the OHA, with achievements across every aspect of our organisation. The following are the highlights of a landmark period;
• The OHA Medal was awarded for the 17th time to former Academy Award winner and 2025 nominee, Adam Elliot (OH 1984). It was a wonderful occasion having Adam address a packed Aikman Hall assembly on Founders Day.
• We established a formalised Community Grants program that aims to support Old Haileyburians in times of need.
• We conducted our third extremely successful OHA Week in Melbourne and launched our inaugural event in Darwin.
• The OHA Award was presented for the first time to two students in Melbourne and two at Haileybury Rendall School in Darwin.
• The Old Haileybury Amateur Football Club won the Premier B premiership in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).
• An event for all OHA Club representatives was hosted by the OHA at Keysborough.
• Attendances at signature events (Mornington Peninsula event, Generations Breakfasts, OHA Golf Day, Sursum Corda, Clark Club) for 2024 were at an all time high.
• Investment in our Council members who throughout the period had opportunities to attend the London Oxford Summit in Melbourne as well as engage in Board training activities.
• Continuing success with Hearts on Fire – an event established in order to engage with our young female graduates.
• The establishment of an OHA Rewards program, designed to support members who own their own small businesses and to support members through the discounting of products and services.
• The Old Haileybury Cricket Club won two premierships in the MCC Club X1.
• The OHA Aerobics Club proudly brought home one gold medal, one bronze and two fifth place rankings at the National Championships held on the Gold Coast
• Over 2000 members and guests attended OHA events in 2024/25. Events included class reunions, interstate and regional Chapter gatherings, business and networking, sporting reunions and interest group activities.

CLUBS
The OHA is indebted to those who work behind the scenes to ensure that our clubs are functioning at the standard required to exist in their various competitions and environments. As society sees a rapid decline in volunteerism, we thank our dedicated club volunteers who go over and above in support of our School and Association to deliver a worthwhile and positive environment for our many alumni who form part of our Club network. As of March 31, 2025, the OHA was fortunate to have the following clubs represent the organisation:
AIKMAN (ROWING CLUB)
ATHLETICS/CROSS COUNTRY CLUB
BOWLS CLUB
COMPETITION AEROBICS
CRICKET CLUB
FOOTBALL CLUB
GOLF CLUB
HOCKEY CLUB
WATER POLO CLUB

EVENTS
The OHA ran an exciting, engaging and brilliantly attended series of events in the months between April 2024 and March 2025.
Our Signature events continue to create huge demand and hence a wonderful atmosphere.
It was particularly pleasing to see a strong response to Chapter events held throughout the country in 2024. We are particularly thankful to Giles Boten (OH 1985) and his wife, Nicole for their generosity in opening their home for the OHA Sydney event in October.
Class reunions continue to create strong engagement and we were thrilled to host our Melbourne based Haileybury Rendall School alumni for a dinner in the cold Melbourne climate.
As our membership grows and the number of alumni coming from diverse backgrounds expands, so too will the number of events. Our aim is to provide relevant and engaging events for not only our Melbourne based alumni, but also those from the Darwin, Beijing and Pangea campuses of Haileybury to ensure we continue on with the theme of One Haileybury.

OHA AWARDS
OHA MEDAL
The Old Haileyburians Association Medal is awarded annually to an Old Haileyburian in recognition and appreciation of exceptional achievement to the community beyond expectation in their field of endeavour. Given that there are now in excess of 20,000 members of the Old Haileyburians Association, to be awarded this medal is a significant achievement.
In 2024, the OHA Council were unanimous in their decision to award the OHA Medal to Adam Elliot (OH 1984).
Adam is an Academy Award winning animation writer and director who has always based himself in his hometown of Melbourne. His animated films are what he calls, Clayographies which are clay animated biographies based on the bittersweet lives of his family and friends.
After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1996, Adam has created seven animated films that have been voiced by some of the world’s leading actors. His breakthrough came with his film Harvie Krumpet, which won the 2004 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, cementing Adam’s place on the international stage.
Adam’s contributions to animation continue to be recognized globally. In 2025, he received his second Academy Award nomination, for his feature film, Memoir of a Snail. The film centres on Grace Pudel, a lonely hoarder of ornamental snails who lives in Canberra and stars Sarah Snook, Jacki Weaver, Eric Bana and Kodi Smit-McPhee as the main characters. The Academy Award nomination further solidifies Adam’s legacy in the industry. His dedication to handcrafted storytelling and unique visual style has made him a pioneer in stop-motion animation, inspiring filmmakers worldwide. Today, Adam remains a passionate advocate for independent cinema, championing stories that celebrate life’s imperfections with heart and humour.
Congratulations Adam!

The Old Haileyburians Association is once again indebted to our major sponsor, Mercedes – Benz Berwick for their support. Sponsorship from Mercedes-Benz Berwick allows the OHA the opportunity to provide its members with a high level of support along with subsidised prices to events and activities within the network.
Mercedes-Benz Berwick is an outstanding brand and we encourage all members of the Haileybury community who are in the market for a prestige vehicle to contact the dealership.
