Mastering the Sand Playing out of a sand trap is many of golfer’s worst nightmare. The secret is to aim for the sand in front of the ball, to open the clubface and accelerate through the shot. Don’t stop your swing! The idea is not only to get distance, but to pop the ball up in the air and let it fall softly on the green.

QUIET HANDS One of the biggest mistakes made on the volley is to use the hands too much. Try to keep your hands "quiet." That is, don't use your hands too much. The power on the volley should be from the feet. Make sure when you hit your volley you are stepping in or at least leaning into the volley. When you move for a volley, take your feet with you.

Equestrian A

s we look forward towards cooler temperatures for our equine companions, the Equestrian Staff would like to remind everyone of a few upcoming events and important information regarding riding availability and scheduling. First, we are happy to be hosting a Fall Pig Roast on November 23rd starting at 3 PM at the Haig Point Equestrian Center. Kids will enjoy hayrides and pony rides. Everyone will enjoy lawn games, stall tours and live music. Chef Taylor will be cooking up cold weather fare and we will enjoy the cooler temps with fire pits, s'mores and warm-you-up type cocktails! Music, mingling and fall fun are the goals for the event! Also, please keep in mind our modified services and hours for the month of November. Currently, lessons are offered by Alexa Clark, Tuesday afternoons through Saturdays, no lessons Sundays or Mondays. Call the Equestrian Center

or contact aclark@haigpoint.com for scheduling. Please remember that the Haig Point lesson horses are shared by any and every member that utilizes the Equestrian Center. Therefore, there are a limited number of lessons any given horse can do in a week/day. Please be aware that you may not be able to take as many lessons as you would like as horses' time and physical energy has to be shared among riders. If you are interested in purchasing and boarding a horse to use as you like, please speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members! Lastly, trail rides are currently being offered Tuesday through Saturdays as well. If you are a Haig Point Member, please call the Equestrian Center or contact Claire Sistek at csistek@haigpoint.com for a reservation. The Equestrian Center Staff
