What’s on in Sudbury this September As the days get cooler and a little bit shorter, there is still plenty to do in Sudbury. South Suffolk Leisure offer a wide range of activities for both children and adults at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre. Their supportive team can create personalised plans for individuals and their studio provides a great blend of group fitness classes whether you want to burn calories, tone and strengthen or holistic classes such as yoga. Gainsborough’s House are putting on Gardeners’ Question Evening on September 4 with Prof. Stefen Buczacki. Stefan is best known for previously being the Chairman on BBC Radio 4’s “Gardeners’ Question Time”. Tickets are available at Gainsborough House or telephone 01787 372958. Heritage Open Day Print Workshop Demonstrations on September 11 at Gainsborough’s House with regular demonstrations showing different techniques of printmaking, free entry to the garden and demonstrations. Also on September 11 there is a lecture on the former Prime Minister; Robert Walpole which starts at 11am and is only £7.50 per ticket.

The Quay building is over 300 years old and has been operating as a theatre since the 1970’s, ring to book your tickets or go online for the shows such as Lady Windermere’s Fan by Oscar Wilde performed by Sudbury Dramatic Society from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th September. The Town Hall and Heritage Centre will be open on Saturday, September 12 from 10am to 4pm as part of the national Heritage Open Weekend. Visitors will be able to view the Mayor’s Parlour and Assembly Room as well the newly extended Heritage Centre and Museum. All types of events are held at St Peter’s, how many towns can boast such a beautiful church in the centre of their town which is regularly open for visitors to look around, as well as providing a venue for community events such as the very successful farmers market held on the last Friday of each month. There are Boat Trips by the River Stour Trust every Sunday and Sudbury to the Sea takes place on September 12 & 13. Participants navigate the 37km of the River Stour from Sudbury to the Cattawade Barrier. More information can be found at www.riverstourtrust.org.
