A much loved town charity, which recently appealed for young people to come forward to form a junior committee, has recruited its first members. Helping Hands, which raises money for and campaigns on behalf of adults with learning disabilities which attend the Sudbury Community Hub (formerly the Sudbury Resource Centre) wants to develop a junior committee from which younger people can eventually evolve to the charity’s main committee. Jess Crago, 15, of Long Melford, was the first young person to come forward. She said: “I saw the appeal for young people in the local newspapers and just felt it would be a fantastic thing to get involved with. I like the idea of helping people and supporting the community and hopefully I can learn some new skills as well. I am really looking forward to being involved.” Jess has now been joined by Luke Cresswell, 25, of Sudbury, Chloe Lock, 19, of Great Cornard and Sian Lawson, 15, of Acton and the group has already assisted Helping Hands at the recent Party in the Park event in Sudbury, as well as being shown around the Sudbury Community Hub.
