Hang on to your Handlebars! through the town. To join the family cycle ride call 01473 826656 or visit: www.babergh.gov.uk/leisure Sue Longhurst, Babergh District Council’s Community Development Officer (Sport), who is organising the events with Hadleigh Town Council, said: "This is a great chance to see a real showpiece cycle race and enjoy some free activities in the High Street.” And Town Clerk of Hadleigh Town Council Carol Bailey added: "This will be a fantastic occasion for the town with lots of local activity and a unique opportunity to see some of the world's top cyclists."

The Tour of Britain Cycle race is nearly here and Hadleigh residents will be able to see the race pass through the town and join in activities in the High Street. Saturday, September 17 is the big day with free events taking place in the High Street near the junction with Angel Street. Kicking off at 10am, Babergh Council's mobile skate park will be there as well as the chance to try Kangoo Jumps and join in a family cycle ride. There will also be the opportunity to have a free bike check and also find out more about what you can do at the town's swimming pool, leisure centre and new community facility. There will be street entertainers and local traders will ensure there is plenty to eat and drink. Just after 10.45am the lead cars will arrive followed by the 16 teams of cyclists on the penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain Race which culminates in London the next day. The teams come from Britain, Ireland, France, USA, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium and their day will have begun in Bury St Edmunds. And after going through Cockfield, Lavenham, Monks Eleigh and Hadleigh the race will go onto Ipswich, through Mid Suffolk and into Norfolk where this stage will finish at Sandringham House. Fancy your own cycle ride? Then why not join in the family ride taking place before the main race, which will finish in good time at Babergh council's car park in Bridge Street so that riders can watch the main race as it passes
