THE STREETWATCH SCHEME HAS BEEN LAUNCHED! A police and community partnership initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of life in Hadleigh was launched on Monday 8th October. The 'Streetwatch' scheme will be run by local residents who want to promote good citizenship and support a stronger neighbourhood, while empowering the community to take ownership of their public spaces through high-visibility patrols. Babergh Crime Reduction Officer Verity Line said: "We now have ten fully signed up volunteers for the Hadleigh scheme which is brilliant. Thank you to everyone who is volunteering and offering your time." Volunteers will be walking around Hadleigh during both day and night hours in pairs and wearing a high visibility jacket with the Streetwatch crest on. The scheme is regulated through operating guidance, codes of conduct and all members have undergone local police checks. They will be reporting any

issues to the Police and the District Council such as litter, graffiti, anti social behaviour, highways concerns and criminal activity. Hadleigh Safer Neighbourhood Team PCSO Julia Bignell will be the Police link for the scheme and is looking forward to seeing the volunteers out and about in the town aiding a safer community and environment for all. If you see a vounteer out on patrol please take the time to stop and say hello to them. Anyone who is interested in joining the Hadleigh Streetwatch scheme or obtaining further information should contact Crime Reduction Officer Verity Line on 101 or verity.line@suffolk.pnn.police.uk
