JUBILEE BUNTING FLIES HIGH! something from the local food outlets in the town. Sam from the Jolly Meat Company organised a delicious hog roast and the Royal Bengal were also doing take away food on the street, we thank all the food outlets and shops who stayed open for this event. The weather was very unsettled but that didn't stop the people coming down and enjoying the atmosphere. The event finished at 3pm when the bunting, tables and chairs were all packed away again. I would like to thank Linda and Wayne Kerridge, Sarah and Brian Loftus, Elaine and Glen Root and Sarah Egglestone and everybody else for helping out with the events including all the members of the public who come down and braved the weather. On the 4th June the Town beacon was lit at 10:15pm at Beaumont school, Hadleigh's beacon was hand made and was lit at the same time as about 4500 other beacons around the UK. Yet again I would like to thank all the people involved with making the beacon and also all the members of the public who turned out on such a cold night. I would like to thank all the people who helped, took part and even advertised this event for us, these events cannot happen with out everyones help and also you the public for attending these events which are put on for your benefit. See page 28 for all the photos!

On the 3rd June the High Street was transformed into a large dining area for The BIG Jubilee Lunch. The Hadleigh cadets set out 75 tables and 300 chairs which lined the High Street from the Kings Head pub to Lloyds Bank. Handmade Jubilee bunting hung across the street, thanks to the efforts of the Hadleigh Guides, Brownies and also a local craft group. The bunting looked fantastic but unfortunately due to the low anchorage of the buildings could not be put up until that morning, due to high lorries and buses using the High Street. Not only that but we didn't want the weather spoiling these wonderful handmade creations! The Kings Head, Crabtrees and The George all put on music for the afternoons entertainment, while bouncy castles and a face painter kept the kids happy. The Big Lunch started 4 years ago, the idea being to get the community together and bring your own lunch with you or buy
