Can you imagine having to peel 30 kilos of potatoes, 10 kilos of parsnips and 5 each of carrots and sprouts? That is exactly what our incredible team of volunteers got stuck into on Christmas Day to cater for 85 people at the Christmas Present Trust meal in the Ansell Centre. The atmosphere was lovely, no Christmas Day arguments over what to watch on television, no overly large portions making anyone ill, no squabbling over present size or cost, just a wonderful collection of guests and volunteers enjoying a scrumptious meal courtesy of the catering team, and some glorious music thanks to Graham Holmes. The event felt even more like a community effort this time. We could not have done it without support from the following people, to whom we say a sincere and warmest thank you for your contribution. Our reliable and hard-working volunteers, who gave up time over Christmas to make the event so special, we were particularly delighted that the Mayor of Hadleigh rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in on Christmas Day, Hadleigh TSB, Bryan Goodwin at BGA Print, The Co-op, The George, Adnams, Morrisons, The Emporium, Hadleigh Town Council, The Thrift Shop, Franey and Rand Charities, EADT, Pacari Chocolates, chef Mark David, BBC Radio Suffolk, Supreme Pet foods, Hadleigh Walkers, The Ram, The Ansell Centre Charity, Hadleigh Ipswich Building Society who look after the money the generosity of the people of Hadleigh for their continuing support of The Christmas Present Trust, and not forgetting Kelvin, Matt and the incredible team at Hadeligh Community News for expert media coverage. We would like to invite all our volunteers to a ‘thank you’ catch up social get together at The George pub, (upstairs room – nibbles provided) on Wednesday 21st February starting at 7pm.
