Mobile Phone Usage

Pupils are not allowed to have any mobile phones or headphones out on school premises from when they arrive on campus until they leave school. Pupils travelling on the school coaches must have a charged mobile phone with them for the journey – this then must be left in the Junior School office during the school day. The school strongly encourages parents to provide their children with non-smart phones.

Should there be an exceptional circumstance, where a student needs to speak with a parent during the school day, they should go to the Junior School office where they will be allowed to use the office telephone.

Each pupil from Year 1 is issued with a school iPad and it is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that they look after these devices and use them responsibly. Please see the Acceptable Use Policy on our website.

In line with our school Code of Conduct, we aim to teach your child how to use their phone safely and we encourage parents to be very firm about their usage at home, we highly recommend parents of younger students make regular checks of your child’s device to ensure they are using social media sensibly and appropriately. As a school, we do not endorse the use of WhatsApp, which has a minimum age of use of 16, neither do we endorse the use of Snapchat or TikTok, which both have a minimum age of use of 13.
