Head of Prep School’s Message

Ms Kate Umpleby

I hope you have all had a fantastic week, we have certainly been busy and having a lot of fun at the Prep School.

On Wednesday, the Years 3 to 6 students showcased their sporting talents through a variety of events during Sports Day. Throwing to jumping, sprinting to hurdles, it was a magnificent display of our school values, courage and ambition. It was also wonderful to see so many of our school community, parents, grandparents and loved ones turning out to cheer on and support the students. Despite a short period of rain over lunch, not ideal in the sense that it spoilt the opportunity to picnic on the field, it did at least mean that we managed to complete all of the events. My favourite part of the day was the house shuffle (relay) with every student in each house, Years 3 to 6, coming together to race against the other houses.

The atmosphere was electric with each house cheering on their runners. It is an amazing feeling to be part of something so special. A very big thank you to Mr Williams for his fantastic organisation of the event, and all the Prep School staff who came together and displayed so much energy and enthusiasm to support the students and run the events.

This afternoon was another wonderful example of coming together as a community to celebrate the ambition and courage of our youngest Habs students, the Pre-Prep Summer Production. There was singing, dancing and some fantastic dramatic performances. The fact that the Reception and Year 1 students have only been with us for a year, and have moved schools as well within that time, makes the confidence and flair of their performances even more impressive. Again, an enormous thank you and well done to everyone involved, students and staff. It was a truly magnificent performance and performances like that don’t just happen overnight.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Summer Fair tomorrow, and the Summer Concert next Wednesday.

Have a great weekend!
