SLOW IS SMOOTH, SMOOTH IS FAST

As we come into the busiest time of the summer, do not forget to slow down, stay hydrated, and move through a standard diagnostic process. When we rush through diagnostics It is human nature to cut corners. Cutting corners will cause us to miss important information, misdiagnose the system, cause frustration for the customer, and increase our workload the next day/week. In these times, I am reminded of a saying I learned from Military personnel. Slow is smooth, Smooth is fast.

Slow Down

When we are Tired, Dehydrated, Overheated, and feeling rushed it is most important to slow down to give our already stressed brain a chance to process information. All of the situations described will slow down our cognitive abilities. We are more likely to “spiral” or go over the same things hoping for a different result. In these times the BEST thing we can do is go to our van. Make a phone call. Cool off. Grab a light snack or anything to take our brain off the job just for a few minutes so we can approach the situation with a fresh mind. Don’t forget that it is ok to call someone to go-over the issue, and get a fresh perspective on it.

Stay Hydrated

Aside from the obvious dangers of dehydration, People forget how it affects our brain. Dehydration (even mild dehydration) will slow down our cognitive function, impair fine motor skills, impair memory, and subjective state assessment (how we view our own health). In other words, it will make doing our jobs correctly much more difficult. The most dangerous to me is the cognitive impairment. If we aren’t thinking, it can make our jobs and actions extremely dangerous. Not realizing when we are acting in an unsafe manner can put us and those around us in danger. Also, it will cause us not necessarily to cut corners on purpose but to miss steps and in that process miss the “smoking gun” in our diagnostics. We may not realize how bad off we are until big mistakes are made or we go from mild to severe dehydration.

Move through a standard diagnostic process

Having a Diagnostic process will help you diagnose issues more effectively even when stressed, tired, and dehydrated. You develop a muscle memory and when all the data you are to gather is written down you can move through the diagnostics with ease. Even if you cannot think straight, you can answer the questions someone else would have if you need to call for assistance. Having a plan will almost always guarantee success in diagnostics. All of this is to say, be careful out there. Pay attention to yourself. Always have a plan and process. It will speed up your diagnostics and will help keep you safe!

HABEGGER IS 454B READY

Heating and Cooling Products

PRESERVING OUR FUTURE AND YOUR COMFORT WITH R-454B

Energy-efficient heating and cooling with greater respect for our environment.

Less than three decades ago, worldwide concerns about ozone layer depletion led to a major shift in refrigerants used for heating, cooling and refrigeration. Meetings were held, laws were changed, and in the early 2000’s, Tempstar transitioned to R-410A refrigerant, as one of the first HVAC manufacturers to go all-in on a non-ozone depleting refrigerant. Today, as worldwide concern over global warming continues to rise, most nations, including the United States, are adopting stricter controls over the global warming potential (GWP) of refrigerants. That’s why, for all ducted and ductless residential and light commercial products, we are going all-in on a new refrigerant designed to keep you comfortable while dramatically lowering its global warming potential (GWP) – and that is R-454B.

THIS DEVELOPMENT DIDN’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT

We anticipated the need to reduce the GWP of refrigerants more than a decade ago. Now, after years of research, development, and fieldtesting, we are more than ready to meet the new requirements. We plan to transition the majority of our product line to R-454B ahead of the EPA’s expected 2025 deadline.

Committed to Sustainability

With R-454B, Tempstar proudly displays our commitment to environmental stewardship. It’s a refrigerant that delivers a 75% decrease in global warming potential while maintaining original R-410A’s non-ozone depleting properties. It makes for a pretty darn good air conditioning or heat pump system, too.

Putting it in Perspective

To provide a little perspective, switching all of our residential and light commercials systems to R-454B would be roughly the equivalent of avoiding the greenhouse gas emissions from over 5 million gas-powered passenger vehicles for one year.* That’s a big impact!
