In June 2021, the EPA approved A2L refrigerants for use in residential AC applications and the phase out of A1 refrigerants.
The switch to A2Ls won’t require fundamental changes to the way technicians operate.
A2Ls are considerably less flammable than Class II and III refrigerants, but they will require more attention to basic service principles.
