We are sending you a very special Glass Ticket as our invitation to the VIP Weekend of the largest and oldest annual studio glass exhibition in the world The 47th Annual International Glass Invitational Award Exhibition. Whether your interest in glass art is just beginning or if you have been collecting for decades, this VIP Weekend event will be the highlight of your year. Those attending will travel using this Glass Ticket to numerous new glass experiences over this unbelievable three-day weekend.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday: May 2nd, 3rd & 4th* of 2019.

All attendees will exchange their Glass Ticket for Habatat’s G.E.M. (Glass Exhibition Manual) that will act as both your guidebook and instrument for the events, missions and activities throughout your time at Habatat. The GEM will offer details and instructions covering the International Glass Events.

The 47th International experiences include the Habatat Invitational Exhibition, World Renowned MasterWorks Auction, Home Tours, a demonstration by Joseph Ivacic, Artist’s Talks, Toledo Museum Tour, the brand new POP & LOCK art experience, Glass Scavenger Hunt, tour of the Michigan Regional Glass Exhibition at the Janice Charach Gallery featuring local artists, U of M Dearborn tour of Global Glass: Survey of Form & Function, a new Silent Auction, Glass Selfie Studio starring Don Chihulie, lunches, dinners, John Miller’s Truck Gallery and more! The International Glass Party with the attending artists will be, for the first time in three years, an exclusive Habatat attendee event.

New for 2019 we have opened a portal into the life of the participating artists.

Each artist will be providing an insight into their life as an artist. The thoughts provided will be posted on the website celebrating this extraordinary event at www.Glass47.com. Visit this site as well to see an exciting preview of the masterworks on display during the Glass International.

Once again, we hope you honor us by participating in the public’s choice of best in show by voting for your favorite artist. This event happens Saturday night when the general public will have a chance to experience the 47th. The artist chosen during the event will be included in a collection of work that will be on display for the Summer of Glass at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 25 artists in total will be chosen for this exhibition.

ITINERARY AND EVENTS Thursday, May 2nd Preview the 47th Glass Invitational at Habatat Galleries, Evening Strolling Dinner & Auction Arrive at Detroit Metropolitan Airport – DTW (30 Minutes from Habatat Galleries Complex) 47th Annual International Glass Preview at Habatat Galleries: 11:00 am – 5:30 pm ( First View ) Pick up of GEM (Glass Exhibition Manual and receive first instructions).

Dinner & Silent Auction with a Preview of the Masterworks Auction: 6:30 – 7:30 pm Masterworks Glass Auction: 7:30 – 9:00 pm – Auction catalogue with details will be available.

Friday, May 3rd Artist’s presentations, 47th Glass International Preview, Pop & Lock, Demo,Truck Expo, Tapas Party 47h Annual International Glass Preview at Habatat Galleries: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Artist Presentations at the Somerset Inn: 10:00 am – 12:00 Lunch at Habatat Galleries: 12:00 pm Meet the artists and see the Glass International!

Grand Opening of the Pop & Lock Art Experience & John Millers "Food-O-Rama": 1:15 pm Home Tour & local JCC for a tour of the Michigan Regional Glass Exhibition: 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm Tapas party for artists and collectors at the home of Corey and Regena Hampson: 6:30pm – 10:00 pm Saturday, May 4th Bus and Home Tours, Demonstration, 47th Glass Preview and Grand Opening 47th Annual International Glass Preview at Habatat Galleries: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm A deluxe bus will leave the Somerset Inn at 9:30 am to see a private collection.

We then travel to U of M Dearborn for lunch and to experience the Global Glass: Survey of Form & Function Touring exhibition. Our next stop is to the Toldeo Museum of Art to see their new acquisitions, including a new Amber Cowan, a demo by Joseph Ivacic and the recently restored display of 30 works along with the 3500 year chronology of glass.

We next will visit the collection of a local Toledo collector on our way back to the hotel.

At 8:00 pm you will experience the Grand Opening of the 47th International Glass Invitational and vote for your favorite artist.The public’s choice winner will be part of a museum exhibition.

The Weekend Package ( Thursday, Friday and Saturday* ) reserves your personal GEM, space on all bus tours, all lectures and demos, two cocktail dinners, the JCC, U of M, & Toledo Museum tours, demo, home tour, as well as two lunches, the Pop & Lock and Truck Exhibitions - plus the most enjoyable glass extravaganza possible! *$300 per couple excluding airfare, hotel and car rental. This amount will be pro-rated for a single person or for fewer or more days.

The Flint Institute of Art opened an immense glass art installation in 2018 that is one of the best ever seen. www.flintarts.org Also, the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation opened two displays over the last two years exhibiting the collection of Bruce and Ann Bachmann. The display in the museum offers a history of glass making and the one in Greenfield Village shares the story of glass making in America.
