DEAD MILKMEN, OCTOBER 4, BARRYMORE, MADISON The Barrynore is a great place for a concert. ft was full of Milkmen fans tonight.

The opening band wasn't too bad, but f wouldn,t go see them alone.

Fhen the Milkmen started, everyone was pushed and shoved around the slam pit, rhich great.

They played for about. 1 and Il2-washours.

The lest part rras the st.uff before "Bitchin' Camaro',, which was about Michael Hutchins and Sinead 0,Connor talking about rainforests.

When f first got there., f wasn't rea11y expecting much, but it turned out to be a really great show.

park, SKINNY PUPPY, Central Halloween The show started about 4S minutes late but not many people real1y noticed because they were stilI trying to figure out how the opening band could call what they were doing rnus ic .

When Skinny Puppy finally came out, ev_ eryone started pushing to get as close to the front as possible. . . which wasn't very close because of the heavy security that held everybody back.

So, the only way to really see was to get passed.

The stage set up was perfect with four video screens that flashed some gruesome pictures of animal (vivisection) tortures and other surreal things to the sounds of most of their older stuff .

A1so, 0gre had some real1y st,range makeup_s1ime stuff on him that made hin look like somet hing from or'.the "A1ien" B1ob,'.

Although it r.ras a pretty short show ( an hour, possibLy), it was definitely the best

To this date the Birth Defects have done 13 shows in the Montreal region and three shows in Quebec.

They have played with the fnfanous Bastards, S. C. U. M. M. D. C. (of San Francisco), Northern Vultures, Groovy Aardvark , Hazy (of Azure, Fail-Safe, Soothsayer Alternative Inuit, 7 Seconds Quebec), (ot Reno) and several others

Their first appearance on cassette was on the }lontreal compilation put together "Kitsh'en Sguatt" which about ten 1oca1 groups.

The project consisted of using a studio for free for several hours in order to tape four to five minutes of music.

0ne will find songs two of their on this tape, Fear" The compilation and "The Birth Defects".

"Unwanted brought a certain amount of success by selling 1500 copies.
