ichele Henderson, Dominica’s premier female vocalist who is known for her versatility and extreme talent will be the headlining act at this year’s Tribute to Father called “Jazz, Wine and Words” slated for the Theatre Guild, this Saturday evening. Whether it’s in English, French or Creole; Zouk, R&B, Jazz, Reggae or Retro Soul, the accolades are consistent. No stranger to the entertainment scene in her native land of Dominica, Michele’s status as an all rounder – writer, flautist and vocalist, is growing by leaps and bounds throughout the Caribbean and further afield with every performance. She has been featured in Caribbean magazines such as “She”, “Home Companion”, “Maco”, “Caribbean Beat” and “The Beat” and on regional television programmes such as Caribscope and E-zone. She was also featured in the international media including BET Jazz. The host of the event, the Rotary Club of Stabroek will use the evening to honour fathers for their role in society. The importance of fatherhood in the nurturing and development of the child and by extension, the community will be highlighted at the event. involvement of the father in every facet of community development will be honoured. The event will be an all-inclusive affair where patrons will be treated to excellent music by top regional artistes supported by the best local talent. An offering of a selection of fine wines will set the mood for what will be a splendid evening of “Jazz, Wine and Words”. The evening commences at 18:30h with the welcoming “wine hour” where by patrons will have the pleasure of viewing and sampling an array of wines served from specially erected kiosks tended by the major distributors of wines and liqueurs in Guyana. Offerings of selected cheeses and grapes will complement the evening’s fare of wines. The entertainment begins at 19:30h featuring the best of local talent interspersed with the extraordinary poetic styling of the group “WORDSMITHS” which includes Yaphet Jackman, Latoni Beaton and Randolph Critchlow. Patrons will then enjoy more cocktails and fine wines during the intermission. The entertainment resumes with a grand performance by the sensational Michele Henderson who recently blazed the trail to win the Caricom Anthem competition out of over 50 regional participants.
