CAR BODY EQUIPMENT GUIDE

Complete Commissioning and Support Service

Once a delivery date has been agreed, the product will normally be shipped direct to the customers’ site (for large equipment).

A factory trained GYS Engineer will arrive on the agreed date to commission the equipment.

The detailed commissioning process will comprise of:

• Installation and set-up of the machine

• Explain its operation to nominated bodyshop technicians

• Answer any questions or queries

• Explain service and maintenance requirements

• Provide a maintenance schedule

• Issue a calibration certificate (for spot welders)

• Issue a signed commissioning certificate, which may be required by some approval bodies

GLOSSARY OF COMMONLY USED TERMS

SPOT WELDING

Inverter High power and compactness: Inverter technology allows high available currents with reduced machine dimensions. Inverter technology makes it possible to achieve strict control of all welding parameters.

Automatic mode: Machine can determine type of metal, thickness and correct settings to exact a perfect spot weld.

Arms: The type of clamping arm which can be positioned around vehicle structure to perform a spot weld.

C Clamp: C shaped arm can be positioned around area such as vehicle sill or structural area to perform a spot weld.

X Clamp: X Shaped arm for all other areas.

DENT PULLING

2600A / 3800A: Measurement of maximum current output /power in Amps.

Inertia hammer: Main dent pulling tool that will weld a star or stud on to bare metal.

Welding Stars: Small star shaped copper metal piece which can be spot welded onto bare metal.

Pulling keys: Small key shaped metal which are welded on to bare metal in a line to enable a steel rod to be slid in and pulled.

Wavy wire / Wiggly wire: Flexible copper wire in wavy shape which can be welded to wheel arch or shaped dent to perform a dent pull.

Gripping hook : Hook with claws which grips onto steel rod inserted through a series or line of pulling keys or wavy wire.

MIG WELDING

15-160A: Measurement of current output /power in Amps. For Car Body Brazing it is necessary to be able to weld at low current 15-20A, maximum current is less important as of course they are welding thin metal.

Synergic control: Important time saving feature that automatically controls the wire speed, making the set-up of the welder quicker and easier.

Spool Gun: External spool fed gun for welding aluminium.

Single torch system: Mig welder with one welding torch connected.

Welding current: The level of power measured in Amps which determines the spot weld. 12,000 Amps is now the minimum level of amps required to perform a spot weld to insurance approved repair standards.

daN: Abbreviation of Deca newtons. The clamping force measurement used to measure force and pressure applied.

Bodyprotect: Unique electro magnetic field protection system by GYS, to protect the user.

Tracability: Method of recording each spot weld done using the machine, in this case a removable SD card or via wifi on the latest models.

Levelling bar: Pulling bar which provides leverage when pulling the gripping hook.

Magnetic earth: Earth strap which is welded to bare metal.

Dent box: Accessories pack including stars, keys and wavy wire.

Ringmatic: ‘Rapid Fire’ System for dispensing and applying multiple metal pulling keys in a line at speed.

Manuliner: System for hand manipulating and manually pulling single point of dent via a temporarily welded point.

Triple torch system: Time saving configuration , a Mig welder with three torches connected eliminating 15minute changeover time from Steel to Aluminium or Brazing.

CuSi Mig Wire: Copper silicone welding wire for Mig Brazing.

AlSi Mig Wire: Aluminium Mig Wire.

Euro Torch: Universal detachable torch (easy to replace).
