GUYOIL – Why people not charged?
Given what has occurred at GUYOIL, why are some peoplestillwalkingaroundfree? Wewanttoknowwhythe now terminated employees of GUYOIL have not been charged, andhavenoteitherbeenplacedbeforethecourt,or areinjail? Itbogglesthemindthataftertheslewoffindings and many exposures of all that took place at GUYOIL that peoplearestillfloatingaround, andlittlehasbeendone. Who isprotectingwhom, andwhyisthisevennecessary, sinceso much corruption was unearthed at the State entity? (“AG report flags lack of contract and quotation in botched deal…Director’s friend had recommended unlicensed fuel company”-KNOctober7).
It is more alleged corruptions than one can imagine occurring under one roof and involving a small set of GUYOIL employees, and entangling also, if this could be believed, adirectorofthecompany Directorsareselectedto overseecleanoperationsandcleanbusiness, notbeapartof corruptionschemes, asalleged.
According to the Auditor General’s report, the perpetrators fingered so far appeared to have thought of everything, covered all the bases. But like all situations involving corruption and breaches of trust occurring since time immemorial, there are always those stray strands that comebacktohauntinthefingersthattheypoint, andtowhose doorstheylead. Procurementprotocolsignoredandviolated, self-serving, made-up procedures followed, friends of friends, acompanynotauthorizedtoengageincertaintypes of fuel business, no price quotation and no contract, among other damning exposures, thanks to the work of the Audit Office.

The problem is that to this day, almostayearandahalflater, nooneofthepersonsnamedin theAG’sreporthasbeenchargedbytheGPF
Why is this so? Clearly, as could be gathered from the AG’smultiplefindings, allinterrelatedandalltrackingback tothefourofficersofGUYOIL,thereweresomeseriousand costlyactivities. Notthroughincompetenceorignorance,as we remind citizens, but with what were undoubtedly a long string of corrupt practices that reflected much cunning thought employed, much crooked energies expended, and much cash in the mix. No COVID-19 vaccine card needed to enter country - as 7 new cases recorded
As of Friday persons travelling to Guyana will no longer have to produce a COVID-19 vaccination card to enter the country. This is according to a notice posted by Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill on his Facebook page.

However, persons are encouraged to continue observing the public health measures set out by the Health Ministry to guard against the virus.
Back in 2020, the year that the pandemic hit the country, several restrictions were put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

But following a reduction in COVID-19 cases and hospitalisation in the country, the Government earlier this year lifted almost all of the COVID-19 restrictions that were outlined in the Official Gazette.

The Government back in June had also lifted the testing restrictions on international travel and this had come one week after the United States Government lifted theirs. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry via its daily dashboard reported on Friday that within the last 24 hours, seven
new COVID-19 cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 71,368.
The new cases were found in Region 4 – five cases and Region 6 – two cases.

The dashboard shows that one person is in institutional isolation, 69 are in home isolation and two are quarantined institutionally.
To date, a total of 70,017 persons have recovered.
Guyana set for FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup in Miami
By Rawle ToneyAll systems are in place for Guyana’s participation at the second edition of the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup tournament in Miami.
This is according to the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) General Secretary, Patrick Haynes, who told Kaieteur News that the final team selection will be announced following an upcoming technical meeting.
The tournament, which is set for November 4 – 6 at BayFront Park, will see the country’s male and female teams facing the USA in
Group A. The men’s side will also play Guatemala, while the women are down to squareoff against Colombia.
A total of 17 teams will compete in the men’s category, while Twelve teams will participate in the women’s championship and will start directly from the main draw.
As compared to the event last year, which was also hosted in Miami at Bayfront Park, both sides have automatically qualified for the tournament’s Main Draw.
Former AEK Athens ‘big
man’ Delroy James and Deylon Bovell, the former Berkeley College stand-out point guard, are expected to form part of the four-member team that will also feature Stanton Rose Jr and Nikkoloi Smith.
Haynes pointed out that the GABF’s only concern is the availability of professional player Joy Brown.
At the inaugural tournament last year, Brown, along with Kesann Charles and Jada Mohan, made up Guyana’s female team.
Brown did the bulk of the lifting for the women and be-
came an instant favourite for fans at the tournament.
She propelled Guyana to the top of Group C in the qualification round, which saw them moving on to face Chile and Mexico in the Main Draw.
Brown put up 31 points in the qualifying round alone, including 18 in one game. She scored another 20 points in the pool stage for a Guyana team that didn’t make it to the bracket.
“Well, Charles is already in Miami since she migrated. We also have Kenesha Leacock (from Linden) and we’re working on sorting out Mariam McKenzie’s Guyanese passport issue,” Haynes said.

ARIES (Mar. 21–Apr. 19)
This is one of those days when you will be walking along and all of a sudden hear a street performer playing music. Suddenly your feet start to move and soon you're dancing.
TAURUS(Apr.20–May20)
Don't take things that don't belong to you, Taurus. Your penetrating eyes are apt to spot things that are easily pocketed, even though you know deep down that those things aren't meant for you to keep.
GEMINI (May 21–June 20)
Try not to think too much about what is "supposed" to happen next, Gemini. The truth of the matter is that things don't necessarily work out the way they're planned,
CANCER (June 21–July 22)
Water your plants today and make sure they're getting enough light, Cancer. If you don't have any plants, take this opportunity to go to the nursery and pick up a couple for your home or office
LEO (July 23–Aug. 22)
You're on a roll today, Leo. Don't let other people's insecurities or shallow understanding about an issue get in the way of your progress. There's a distinct advantage.
VIRGO (Aug. 23–Se pt. 22)

You may be wondering whose shoulder you should cry on, Virgo. Usually yours is the shoulder that everyone else likes to use. The collar of your shirt is probably soaking wet by no.
LIBRA (Sept. 23–Oct. 22)
Your coals have been smoldering for a while, and there is a great deal of smoke pouring from your blackened embers, Libra. The good news is that there's apt to be a great.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23–Nov. 21)
Be wary of big promises today, Scorpio. This could be one of those days when people are more likely to take a gamble because they're unrealistic about how things are going to work out.
SAGIT(Nov.22–Dec.21)
Feel free to go shopping online for yourself, Sagittarius. While you're at it, you might as well pick out some things for others, too. You're apt to be in tune with the pleasant spirit of the people around you.
CAPRI (Dec. 22–Jan. 19)
You're likely to gravitate toward those who can put on a show and carry your imagination to a far-off land today, Capricorn. Look for this quality in others instead of turning to the TV to satisfy this need.
AQUARIUS(Jan.20–Feb.18)
Connect with those who carry you upward and encourage your fantasies today instead of those who try to bring you down to reality, Aquarius. There's a need for you to shine.
PISCES (Feb. 19–Mar. 20)
You're likely now on the brink of completing a major move of some sort. Your first reaction may be to sit in solitary deliberation as you wrestle with the pros and cons of each piece of the situation.
Tamara Hunter will be listed as their standby player, as Haynes reminded of the Kwakwani player’s uniform woes at last year’s tournament that kept her from not competing. Nonetheless, Haynes said this time around, that will be sorted.
McKenzie currently plays with Clube Amigos do Basquete, also known as CAB Madeira in the Portugal Professional league.
With regards to sponsorship, Haynes said a commitment was made by KFC and the GTT to once again be on board.
At the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup, Guyana’s female team came from Joy Brown, Jada Mohan and Jesanna Charles, while Ryan Stephney, Tyron Hamid, Travis Burnett, and Timothy Thompson made-up the men’s team.

The men and women representing the ‘592’ at the firstof-its- kind event turned in some impressive performances, but when the dust settled at Bayfront Park, it was the women who found more success.
From page 22 contest and it would be a shame if a large crowd is not at Bourda to watch Monday’s match.
Berbice team: Veerasammy Permaul (Capt), Kevlon Anderson, Shimron Hetmyer, Rampertab Ramnauth, Jonathon Foo, Anthony Bramble, Jason Sinclair, Junior Sinclair, Romario Shepherd, Clinton Pestano, Kevin Sinclair, Gudakesh Motie, Nial Smith, Demetri Cameron.
Reserves: Kevin Umroe, Seon Glasgow, Nigel Deodat, Eon Hooper, Sylus Tyndall
The BCB said that players from the list of reserves will fill the breach for those players who will be unavailable for the first round.
