PGA/LIV golf merger could benefit Guyana in the future says GGA president

Following the global reveal that long-time rivals Professional Golf Tours (PGA) and Saudi-backed rival group, LIV Golf merger to createoneunifiedworldgolfentity, president of the Guyana Golf Association(GGA)AleemHussain believes the move could one day helpboostthefraternitylocally

According to Hussain, the GGA/Nexgen Golf has been actively involved in discussions to create a specialized partnership with several world golf organizations that will place Guyana on the map when it comes togolftourism.

"Over the past few months, we have been engaged in serious talks with these groups that are designed tobringworld-classgolfeventsand massive influx of tourism revenue to Guyana. We are very excited about thisAgreement that emerged todayandhopefullywillbemaking a s i m i l a r l y s i g n i f i c a n t announcement in the near future," saidGGAhead.

Guyana has risen to capture attention in the world of golf with theamazinggrowthofthesportina very short time due to the GGA's partnership with the Ministry of Education /Unit of Allied Arts, especially in the area of developing youthsandwomen.

Education elective, citing Hussain to say that an international merger ofsuchmagnitudecouldeventually create a ripple-effect which will benefit all golf-playing nations in the future, with Guyana being one ofthehubsforthesportregionally He also believed that should Guyanahappentobenefitfromany major external entity, the sport will reach unimaginable heights, with regardtodevelopment,specifically the opening of golf courses across the country while more access to overseas competitions and invitationalwillbecomesabitmore feasible with Guyanese golfers gettingtheopportunitytoshowcase skillsabroad.

Another huge plus according to Hussain, who is also one of Guyana'stopgolfers,isthemassive influx of talent which will be floodingthelocalscene, s h o u l d i n t e r n a t i o n a l relationships be forged following thisgroundbreakingmove.

He wrapped up by saying that the country has already been used to hosting hundreds of golfers as part of the annual Guyana Open Cup Tournament and any outside impetus will only allow the fraternity to further grow, as Guyana has been a major hub for golfers from around the globe, for morethanadecade.
