GCB announces strong under-19 team for CWI Rising Star Regional under-19 in St. Vincent

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced a strong National under-19 team to participate in this year's Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Regional under-19 tournament to be played in St Vincent and the GrenadinesfromJuly2,2023.

The Junior Selection Panel led by Chairman Andre Percival, has named a 14-man squad with ten (10) players returning from last year's regional tournament where Guyana finished in third place in thethree-daytournament.

Last year's tournament did not featureaSuper50format.

The regional tournament this year welcomes the return of the Super50 format which gives players an extended opportunity to showcasetheirtalent.

Outstanding performances during the tournament can ensure players stake a claim for selection in the West Indies under-19 team thatwillbeselectedtoparticipatein nextyear'sYouthWorldCup.

Talented batsman Mavindra Dindyalhasbeenappointedcaptain of the team this year with Jonathan Rampersaudashisdeputy

The squad also includes gifted o p e n i n g b a t s m a n R a m p e r t abRamnauthwhohas already scored centuries for Guyana at the under-15, under-17, andunder-19levels.

Inter-County four-day century earlierthisyear Yearwoodwasalso theleadingrunscorerforGuyanaat lastyear'sRegional.

The four (4) newcomers are wicketkeeper batsman Sahid Vieira, fast-bowler Joash Charles, left-armspinnerAryanPersaudand batting all-rounder Thaddeus Lovell.

Percival will return as the Head Coach as well as Budhesh Chatterpaul returning as the Manager.The team will commence encampmentshortly
