Govt. looking for axle load control consultant for US$190M Linden to Mabura road

The Government of Guyana (GOG) is seeking consultancy services for the strengthening of axleloadcontrolfortheUS$190M LindentoMaburaroad.

According to an advertisement inKaieteurNewsJuly30thedition, the Ministry of Public Works, Works Services Group, the Executing Agency, wishes to procure Consultancy Services for Strengthening of Axle Load Control.

Thesodwasturnedfortheroad project in May 2022, after a contract was awarded to Brazilian firm, Construtora Queiroz Galvao S.A.fortheconstructionofthe121 kilometresroad.

In 2020, the Government of Guyana secured a loan for this project. The US$190 million road project comprises a US$112million loan from the Caribbean DevelopmentBank(CDB),agrant of £50 million (US$66 million) fromtheGovernmentoftheUnited Kingdom via the CDBadministered United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Fund, alongwithUS$12millionprovided byGovernment.

A c c o r d i n g t o t h e advertisement, the Government intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of the financing to make eligible payments under a contract for consultancy services. It was stated that the objective of the assignment is to develop and initiate the implementation of a realistic program of axle load controlinGuyana.Thedurationof theassignmentisexpectedtobefor aperiodof12months.

Interested consulting firms are asked to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the provision of these consultancy services, if they reach the following eligibility criteria.

Consultants shall be eligible to participate if in the case of a body corporate,itislegallyincorporated or otherwise organized in an eligible country, has its principal place of business in an eligible countryandismorethan50percent beneficially owned by citizen(s) and/or bona fide residents) of an eligible country (ies) or by a body (ies) corporate meeting these requirements.

Further, in the case of unincorporated firms, the persons are citizens or bona fide residents of an eligible country and in all iFEED™ activity that often convertstodirectaward.”
