failed state
At a press conference yesterday, Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo, said that he and President David Granger want stability in the country. He said that President Granger expressed to him that he does not want to see Guyana become a failed state. Jagdeo said the PPP does not want this either. But if the 90-day deadline for holding General and Regional Elections is not upheld, Jagdeo said that this is exactly where the country would be heading. A promised joint statement from the two leaders did not arrive up to press time.
