W. Rambaran Services Inc supports GBF National Women’s 3x3 c/chip Rambaran …tournamentsetfortoday

Prominent local transportation, liftingandlogistic services provider W RambaranServicesInccame to the aid of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) ahead of today’s inauguralNationalWomen’s 3x3tournament.

TheBurnhamBasketball will play host to the roundrobin format tournament, featuring the University of GuyanaTrojans(twoteams), President’s College (two teams), Kwakwani (two teams),andLinden.

Rebecca Ganesh, the company’s Executive Assistant, made the presentation to GBF Vice President Rawle Toney and pointed out that they’re always happy to support basketball, but this time around, it’s even more special since it’s a tournament that will see participationfromfemales acrossthecountry

Toney thanked the company on the GBF’s behalf while pointing out the importance of corporate support towards thedevelopmentofthesport ofbasketballinGuyana. The GBF Vice

President said the women are all eager to play and is promising an action-pack day, starting from 10:00 am

WithGuyana’swomen’s sidequalifyingtocompeteat the June 23 - July 8, Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador, the tournament is being held as part of team selectionandpreparation.

The tournament was slated for last weekend in Linden, but the event was rained out, forcing the GBF toreschedule.

Cricket icons Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar have been honored with gates at the Sydney Cricket Ground. All visiting cricket teams will enter the playing arena through the Lara-Tendulkar gates in the future at the iconic Australian venue, CricketAustraliaannounced earlierthisweek.

Lara played 131 Test matches forWest Indies and his 400 not out against Englandin2004remainsthe highestindividualscoreever inTesthistory

“I’m deeply honored to be recognized at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as I’m sure Sachin is. The ground holds many special memories for me and my family,” Lara saidinastatement.

His daughter was named Sydney following his maiden Test century. Lara’s 277 at the SCG in 1993, his fifthTest was the first of his 34 Test centuries. The lefthander averaged of 54.85 in fourTestsattheSCG.

The gates were unveiled on 24 April to mark Tendulkar’s 50th birthday Tendulkar averaged 157 in the five Test matches he played at the SCG and said it’s his favorite ground outsideofIndia.

“I have had some great memories at the SCG right from my first tour of Australia in 1991-92. It is a greathonortohavethegates named after me and my good friend Brian, ” Tendulkar said in a statement.

Tendulkar played 200 Tests, scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53 78, including three of his 51 centuriesattheSCG.
