The Organisers of this Show have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the Health & Safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take equal care to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards.

The President will award a prize to the Exhibitor in the Livestock Classes gaining most points. Only ONE entry per Exhibitor is to count in each class. In the event of a tie the prize will be awarded to the Competitor who has gained most points relative to the number of entries. The prize will be presented in the Savery Ring during the Grand Parade.

Mole Valley Farmers are proud to confirm that they will be supporting the Young Handlers Series again for 2026. This exciting league will be open to young stock handlers aged 12 and under on the 1st of January 2026. Featuring sheep, beef and dairy categories - nurturing the next generation of young farmers. We are also happy to continue once again with two sheep classes U8 and U12’s. Children placed first, second or third at participating shows in the Young Handlers Series will be allotted points throughout the season, which culminates at the Holsworthy and Stratton Show on Thursday 27th August. At Holsworthy and Stratton Show, there will be a special presentation to the children with the top three scores from each category. The overall series winner in each category will receive a cup and a sash, plus a £60 Mole Valley Farmers Gift Card, £40 for second place, and £20 for third place.
All competing children in this series (aged 12 and under on the 1st of January 2026) must be supervised by a suitable adult when leading an animal in this competition. This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No. 24-106. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 20th – 22nd August. Shows held on or after the Postal Entry closing date of Championship Show will count as 2027 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers - Classes 38 - 41. PONY SOCIETY - Devon & Cornwall Area Show, Held at The North Devon Show (kindly supported by ExieFest.co.uk)
This section of the show will be run as a standalone section and will not be incorporated into the North Devon Show Results.
Open to all ponies registered in Section 1 of the EPS Studbook Ridden ponies must be 4 years old and over. This show is a qualifier for the Exmoor Pony of the Year to be held at the Midlands Area Show in September at the Rugby Riding Club, Warwickshire.
This show will be run in accordance with the rules of the Exmoor Pony Society. Full details can be found on EPS website: www.exmoorponysociety.org.uk and a copy will also be available in the show secretary’s office on the day of the show. VETERAN HORSE
EQUINE INFLUENZA
All equines attending the North Devon Show must be vaccinated against Equine Influenza in accordance with the rules below. Horses must have received two primary vaccinations at the intervals shown in the table, based on the date their course commenced. A third vaccination must then be administered within the stated interval, with subsequent boosters given at intervals of no more than twelve months.

Horses may compete having received the primary course (1st and 2nd vaccinations) and before the first booster, but not within 7 days of receiving any vaccine dose. For this Show, the final permissible vaccination date is Wednesday 29th July.
Foals: Foals should begin their primary course at 6 months of age. All owners are urged to maintain strict biosecurity protocols. Vaccination compliance is subject to local risk assessment by the attending veterinarians.
PASSPORT CHECKS – Passports must accompany equines to the show and be available for inspection at any time. Horses with missing, incorrect or non-compliant vaccination records will not be permitted on the showground. The show reserves the right to carry out random or full passport checks and to refuse entry where vaccination requirements are not met.

CLASS 17 Tattersalls RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier 2027
Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2026. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The Series is open to AMATEUR riders only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration. The Judge will not ride in the qualifiers but will ride in the Final. Competitors/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. The first three go forward to the final at the Hickstead Derby Meeting, June 2027

Amateur definition:
The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition, a person classed as an amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as a brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage(d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer’s/Trainer’s yard from January 1st, 2025. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

Rules
1. Exhibitors may make any number of entries for the classes listed below but may only actually exhibit two entries per class. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to ensure they enter the correct class.
2. All fleeces should be neatly rolled
3. All fleeces should be labelled with the class entered, the breed or cross and the name and address of the exhibitor.
4. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to ensure delivery of their fleeces to the Fleece Competition Marquee near the Sheep lines by 9.00am on 5th August 2026. The fleeces may be removed at 4.30pm that afternoon.
5. Fleeces that are artificially stained or coloured or fastened with twine will be eliminated.
6. The Fleece Competition will be judged on a points system and the judge’s decision will be final.
7. The Society’s Rule 7 will apply to the Fleece Competition.
8. Winners will be awarded points towards the President’s Prize
The Champion Fleece and Reserve Champion will receive rosettes and a cash prize.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL
1 All Cattle Exhibitors are to be in the show field by 8.30 a.m. Sheep Exhibitors are to be in the show field by 8.00 a.m. No exhibit is to be removed from the field before 4.00 p.m. without written permission having been first obtained from the Secretary. Horses and Ponies are to be in the field by 8.00 a.m. or 1 hour before their class is due in the ring. All prize winners to parade in the Grand Parade unless written permission is first obtained from the Secretary.
2 The Committee disclaims any responsibility for accidents or loss to any person or animal attending the Show and no claims can be entertained for anything that may happen to Exhibitors, Competitors, Onlookers, their property, servants, exhibits or goods in connection with anything arising out of the Show. It shall be considered a Condition of Entry that each Entrant shall agree to indemnify the promoters and/or any Official against any legal action arising from any accident and/or occurrence whatsoever.
3 All the Exhibitors of livestock will receive a Free Exhibitors Vehicle Pass and the appropriate number of Individual Passes.
4 The Committee will adhere as closely as possible to the published Schedule and Programme. However, it reserves the right in its absolute discretion to put forward or alter any Class without notice if expedient to do so and the right to refuse an Entry. Furthermore, it reserves the right to cancel any Class through lack of entries or otherwise without necessarily giving a reason.
5 Other than Competitors for that particular competition only Officials appointed by the Committee shall be permitted to enter the Show Ring.
6 It is a condition of entry that all stock handlers and especially children should only handle animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with the said animal. Children must always be under the direct supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult. No child under the age of 11 may lead an animal in the Grand Parade – except entrants in the Junior Handler Classes who must be under the supervision of an adult.
7 Every animal entered for competition shall be entered or accepted for entry in the Herd Book, Grading Register, Flock Book or their Breed or other official register of its breed in this country under conditions as laid down in each breed section/society in the prize list.
PRIZE MONEY
8 Prize Money may be withheld, or having been awarded, shall be refunded if an Exhibit is found subsequently not to be represented. Prize Money will be awarded according to the following scales of forward entries:-
1, 2 or 3 entries 1, 2 or 3 prizes
6 catalogued entries 4 prizes
10 catalogued entries 5 prizes
15 catalogued entries 6 prizes
The judge may withhold a prize if not satisfied with the quality of the entry. Show Jumping, Junior Cattle Showman, Junior Sheep Showman, YFC are excluded from the general conditions of Rule 7. In awarding the Breed Champions only the 1st place animal in each class shall initially be paraded. When the judge has decided on the Breed Champion he/she shall then call for the 2nd place animal from the Breed Champions Class to stand forward so that it may be considered with the other 1st place animals for the Reserve Breed Champion. This rule will NOT apply to the Inter Breed Championships. For the Inter Breed Championships only the Breed Champion in each section shall parade from which the Champion and Reserve Champion Awards will be made. The Commercial Beef Champion shall NOT be eligible to go forward to the Inter Breed Championship.
9 In the Horse Championships only the Champion in the Hand Hunter, Sport Horse, Champion Ridden Hunter, Champion in Hand Horse & Pony, Champion Veteran, Champion Children’s Ridden & Show Hunter Pony, Champion Mountain and Moorland, Champion Coloured Horse, Champion Hack or Riding Horse and Champion Heavy Horse shall contest the Championship.
10 It should be noted that Cup Winners are responsible for having trophies engraved and if this is not done by them the Committee cannot undertake to keep the cups up to date.
11 All Ponies are to be measured before being shown unless a Veterinary’s Certificate is produced; if not, the Ponies will be measured with shoes, and the half inch will not be allowed for.
PROTESTS AND DISPUTES
12 All protests must be made in writing. The protest must state the grounds of objection and must be lodged with the Secretary within one hour from the time the Award is made together with the deposit of £25.00, this will be forfeited to the Funds of the Society unless the protest is upheld.
13 All disputes shall be settled by any FIVE Members of the Committee or by any Referee whom they may appoint and such decisions will be final.
HORSE AND PONY CLASSES (INCLUDING JUMPING)
14 (a) NOMINATIONS will not be accepted.
(b) SUBSTITUTIONS will only be allowed where occasioned by sickness or injury of or to the animal entered and only then if evidenced from a Qualified Veterinary Surgeon. Any substitutions in the jumping classes must comply with the BSJA rules.
(c) ALL riders must wear appropriate dress.
(d) HORSE PASSPORTS must be available for inspection on Show day.
SPECIAL RULES
16. Anyone on a horse at the show must wear a hard hat.
17. All Riders must wear protective headgear, according to the current standards as listed: All PAS 015, VG1, (BS) EN1384 2017, ASTM F1163 04a onwards, SNELL E2001, SNELL E2016, AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards.
Skullcaps must be of, or worn with, a dark coloured plain peaked cover. Refer to your Society/ Association Rule Book for further clarification. Correctly secured Skull Caps / Riding Hats that meet one of the following current Safety Standards / Specifications MUST be worn by all Riders between the ages of 15 to 17 inclusive. All PAS 015, VG1, (BS) EN1384 2017, ASTM F1163 04a onwards, SNELL E2001, SNELL E2016, AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards. The most recent updates to the list are the additions of SNELL E2016 and EN1384 (2017); the newest version of the SNELL Standard could have begun to appear in 2017 and is accepted to the list; the newest version of the EN1384 Standard will begin to appear during 2018 and is also accepted to the list.
18. No late entries can be accepted in the Horse Classes
CATTLE
19. All animals entered for special prizes or cups must be entered in their appropriate class.
20. Cows must not appear in the Ring in an overstocked condition.
21. Should any Contrivance or Device of any description be found on, or proved to have been used on a Cow or Heifer at any time during the Show either for preventing or influencing abnormally the flow of milk, blistering, bandaging, and/or boarding of udders, the sucking teats, or any other purposes the Committee at their absolute discretion shall have the power to disqualify the cow or heifer so concerned from any Award or Trophy at the Show.
22. The Society reserves the right to remove from the ring or Grand Parade any exhibitor or stockman who is deemed incompetent.
23. The champion of the Commercial Beef classes is not eligible for the Interbreed classes.
