EIF – Events Industry Forum – Far More than a Talking Shop
ALYSHA SARGENT – Event Director, Barnstorm Global Ltd. Having primarily worked at historic properties throughout my career, I am aware of how important events are within them. I am keen to focus on these events and the development of them, in particular during the current situation. And how heritage attractions can diversify and continue to hold events to ensure audience engagement. I’m delighted to have been re-elected for another two years on the NOEA General Council. NOEA has worked tireless throughout the current situation we are all facing within our industry. It has kept members fully updated with the changing landscape and has been vocal at government level on the issues our industry and its people are facing. I am proud to be part of NOEA and look forward to continuing to support it.
ROB WALLEY – Controlled Events Ltd. I am delighted to join the NOEA Council in order to support members and the industry in these unprecedented times for the events sector. Since 2016 I have supported panel support to sessions during the NOEA conference, promoted membership opportunities to potential members and students in the events sector. NOEA’s organisation and the passion during the response to coronavirus has inspired me to want to contribute directly to the organisation and support to members in the coming year. There is no more relevant time to be supporting colleagues as organisers, suppliers and authorities plan for a challenging 2021.
THE EVENTS INDUSTRY FORUM – EIF
FAR MORE THAN A TALKING SHOP
The Events Industry Forum is made up of 29 associations all of whom have direct connections into the outdoor events industry, many of whom are also members of NOEA. See EIF website www.eventsindustryforum.co.uk
Under normal circumstances the Forum come together for face to face meetings two or three times a year. However, throughout this Covid crisis the Forum has met online and its board of directors, who also look after The Purple Guide, have met to work behind the scenes to advise, inform and support members of our industry throughout this most difficult year.
The Events Industry Forum is also responsible for the writing and updating of The Purple Guide and The Purple Guide Lite (taken over from Health and Safety Executive many years ago). We would welcome amendments, additions, and general entries for The Purple Guide at any time in order to keep it completely up to date and of best value to event organisers throughout the UK. EIF has been in close consultation with DCMS, Her Majesty’s Treasury Department and the Home Office throughout the Covid crisis where chairman and secretary have been fighting the corner for grants, funding, loans, and general recognition of our industry. We have also been responsible for the writing of Covid-Safe Guidance and worked closely with festival organisers on the Festival Covid-Safe Supplement. Our members have also written supplements for agricultural shows. All of these Covid Guidance papers are now free of charge on The Purple Guide website www. thepurpleguide.co.uk
Membership of the Events Industry Forum is welcome from any association with direct contacts and links into the outdoor events industry, and enquiries should be forwarded to Jim Winship, Secretary, jim@tesa.org.uk
