Together with Special Prizes presented by the President and other Ladies and Gentlemen, open for General Competition, but with certain prizes reserved for Exhibitors residing within the Unions of Holsworthy or Stratton.

Subject to the following BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS of the Executive Committee
1 All stock Exhibited for competition in class 1 must be bona-fide the property of the exhibitor & shall have been kept on the Exhibitor’s premises for the specified period of 3 months (see condition 6) previous to the day of the Show.
2. For Horses and Ponies exhibited in Ridden Classes, Exhibitors are requested to provide saddles and bridles for that purpose.
3. All persons intending to exhibit must forward to the Secretaries at the Society’s Office the necessary particulars as to Class and age of Stock to be exhibited, with the names of Sires and where applicable, Herd Book Numbers on or before the 1st August 2026. The amount of Entrance Fees must be in all cases paid at the time of making the entry. Owing to the cost of Postage, entries will not be acknowledged but Numbers and Instructions will be sent out 2 weeks before the Show.
4. Every Exhibitor shall prove the correctness of his Certificate to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee if and when called upon by them to do so or, failing to furnish the required proof, may be prohibited from exhibiting and any prize, if awarded may be withheld and the award cancelled.
5. The Judges will be specially cautioned not to award a prize to any unsound animal and to pay special attention to freedom from hereditary disease. Lameness or other unsoundness from accidental injury shall not necessarily disqualify, and in every case where the Judges have a doubt as to the soundness or correct age of any animal exhibited, they shall consult the Veterinary Surgeon of the Association.
6. All animals shall be bona fide the property of the Exhibitor on the day of the Exhibition, and in respect of the District Prizes shall have been bona fide the property of the Exhibitor for three months prior to the day of the Show
7. Every Exhibitor of Livestock shall forfeit and pay to the Society the sum of £1000 as and for liquidated damages if any animal which he Exhibits is to his knowledge suffering from any contagious or infectious disease and for each and every animal if more than one.
8. The age and height of stock exhibited to be ascertained by the Honorary Veterinary Surgeon to the Society on the morning of the Show. In the event of an objection to the horse’s height, this matter shall be decided by the British Horse Society under the joint measurement scheme.
9. All Male equine Exhibited 3 years old and over to be gelded. (Unless otherwise specified).
10. Any persons making a protest must make the same before the close of the Exhibition and must make a deposit of £10 with the Secretaries immediately on making the protest, and should the protest be considered frivolous the deposit will be forfeited and go to the funds of the Society.
11. All cattle to be haltered and paraded in the ring to be judged and if not so haltered will be disqualified. Every Bull over 12 Months Old must be led by a clamp or ring in his nose.
12. All Livestock shall be on the field on the morning of Exhibition by 8.30am except by special permission from the Secretary (After that hour the gates will be closed) Horses and Ponies may arrive during the day, but we would advise you to come at least 1 hour before classes are due to start as start times may be subject to change and no allowance or delay to classes can be made for traffic congestion.
13. All prize winners must parade, otherwise the Society will with-hold the Prize Money Awarded.
14. Exhibitors or their servants must see that Stock under their care is properly placed and cared for. The Committee or the Secretaries will not be responsible for errors, mistakes or accidents that may occur.
15. Trade Exhibitors are desired to make known to the Secretaries the quantity and descriptions of the Equipment they intend to Exhibit on or before the 1st August 2026. Such Equipment must be in the ShowYard on the day previous to the Exhibition before 6 p.m. and all paint upon such Equipment must be thoroughly dry or they will not be allowed to enter the Yard, and the Exhibitors shall on request by the Secretaries remove their Equipment to such spaces as may be allowed to them. If their Equipment shall prove an annoyance to the general public they must be required and compelled to desist working the same. Stands to be open to the public at 9 a.m. and not be closed/dismantled until 5.30 p.m. on day of the Show. All trade Exhibits to be removed from the Show Ground by Friday 28th August 2026.
16. ENTRANCE FEES will be charged on each lot of stock and equipment entered for competition and for persons competing for other prizes.
17. All persons except Exhibitors and persons holding authority from the Executive Committee signed by the Secretaries will be Prohibited from advertising, selling or offering for sale any articles within the Show Yard.
18. Any intending Exhibitor entering a certain animal for the competition shall have his entry cancelled if it is found another animal has been substituted.
19. The Society will not be responsible for accidents of whatsoever nature or kind in the showfield or elsewhere.
20. RESPONSIBILITY neither the Association, or any of its Officers or Servants, shall be in any way responsible or accountable for anything that may happen from any infectious or contagious disease, or any other cause, or circumstance whatever to Exhibitor or their Servants, or to any animal or article exhibited or property brought into the Showyard, or otherwise for anything else in connection with, or arising out of or attributable to, the Association’s Show, or these or any conditions or regulations prescribed by the Association in relation thereto: each Exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury, or damage done to, or occasioned by, or arising from, any animal or article exhibited by him, including any infectious or contagious disease and shall indemnify the Association against all legal or other proceedings regard hereto.
21. CHALLENGE CUPS. Winners of Trophies offered by the Association may retain these until end April 2026 when the Trophies must be returned to the Secretaries in good condition and engraved at winners’ expense.
22. The Society reserves to itself, by its Executive Committee the sole and absolute right to interpret these conditions and regulation and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions or differences relating thereto; or otherwise arising out of, or connected with, or incident to the Show. Also, to refuse and to cancel any entries, disqualify Exhibitors, prevent exhibition of entries, and cancel awards or prizes as the Society may deem expedient.
23. Exhibitors passes will be issued in the following quantities, additional passes may be purchased from the secretary prior to show day at the reduced rate of £16.00 per adult and £5 per child. Horses – 1 vehicle and driver pass for first horse entered. 1 additional adult pass for every further horse entered 1 adult and 1 child pass for every junior entered. Cattle – 1 vehicle and driver pass plus a handler pass for each exhibitor up to 3 cattle, when over 3 are exhibited then 1 extra handler pass per 3 cattle. Extra vehicle passes by request if more than one animal transport vehicle is required for larger exhibitor entries. 1 young handler pass for each junior entered. Handler passes will be issued appropriately to allow 2 adults to handle a bull for showing. Sheep – 1 vehicle and driver pass for entries up to 5, if over 5 entries, then 1 extra handler pass will be issued plus 1 young handler pass per young handler per entrant. Goats – 2 entries qualify for vehicle and driver pass, additional handler pass for every 5 animals entered, 1 Young Handler pass per Young Handler entrant.
24. In the event of the show or classes being cancelled entry fees including trade fees may be repaid at the discretion of the show committee.
25. For the purpose of competition ‘local’ in classes shall be defined by those exhibits and exhibitors residing in the parishes of the Holsworthy and Stratton Unions. These are as follows. Abbots Bickington &West Putford, Ashwater, Black Torrington, Bradford, Bradworthy, Bridgerule, Clawton, Cookbury, Halwill, Hollacombe, Holsworthy, Luffincott, Milton Dameral, North Tanerton, Pancrasweek, Pyworthy, Shebbear, Sutcombe, Tetcott, Thornbury, Bude, Kilkhampton, Launcells, Marhamchurch, Morwenstow, Poundstock, Poughill, St Gennys & Jacobstow, Stratton, Week St Mary and Whitstone. This MUST be stated on entry form, if it is not, you will not qualify on the show day.
26. Information from entry forms will be stored on computer. Information about results may also be published and/or provided to the Press and Breed Societies for publication. Information about exhibitors may also be passed to any regulatory authority, such as Trading Standards or DEFRA, as well as the Association’s Veterinary Advisers. The making of an entry is irrevocable consent for the storage and disclosure of information in this way.
27. Spurs are not permitted to be worn by children.
28. All Exhibitors are required to hold current public liability insurance cover at the date of the Show with a minimum sum insured of £ 2 million per incident, with the number of incidents in any one year to be unlimited. The Association reserves the right to require each Exhibitor to produce documentary evidence of such insurance cover upon request.
29. Any tents, gazebos, awnings and any other temporary structure erected by or on behalf of an Exhibitor must be appropriately secured for reasons of stability and safety.
EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE:
SHEEP Exhibitors of Maedia Visna Accredited Sheep MUST hand to the Show Officials a valid SAC Certificate of Status before unloading. If not, the Sheep will be accommodated in the Non-Attested Section and no claim may be made against the Association for retesting, please make sure certificate is in date M.V. Status MUST be noted on Entry Forms. GOAT Exhibitors must be NON-CAE tested only.

N.B. HEALTH & SAFETY The Organisers of this Show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers, Officials and Stewards.
There will be NO Declaration Office at this Show. It is up to the Exhibitors to arrive at the appropriate ring in time for Judging.

ALL EXHIBITORS ARE REQUESTED TO READ THE ASSOCIATIONS RULES ESPECIALLY RULE 20.
All livestock are to be accompanied with the appropriate movement forms, passports and all vehicles and trailers are to be clean or this may result in exhibitors being turned away at the gate.
HORSES: ALL PRIZEWINNERS (First, second and third) MUST parade in the Horse Grand Parade (otherwise prize money will be withheld), in the Main Ring on completion of all horse classes, excluding jumping during the afternoon. Prize money may not be collected until after the parade.
CATTLE and SHEEP: ALL PRIZEWINNERS must parade in the Grand Parade
All Trophies to be engraved at winners expense and returned to the Secretaries by end April 2027. Cups and trophies may only be collected from the secretaries tent in the Showground after each of the prize winning parades.
NO STOCK MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE SHOWGROUND UNTILAFTER THE GRAND PARADE AND NO VEHICLE MOVEMENTS TO FACILITATE LOADING INCLUDING RE-ENTRY TO THE SHOW GROUND UNTILAFTER THE GRAND PARADE HAS FINISHED WILL BE ALLOWED. THIS TO PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS ATTENDING THE SHOW.
EQUINE INFLUENZA
It is recommended that Horses have had a vaccination within 6 months of the Show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show BUT entries will be accepted if horses have had an annual vaccination within 12 months of the Show date.
FOALS: In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born.
Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.
We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW OFFICE PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER, RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW.
Photos will be taken on show day by the show’s official photographers and may be published on the show’s social media platforms and in future shows publications. All traders, exhibitors and the general public who have entered the show by ticket may be included within these photos. The show does not accept any liability of any photos published.

16 Private Driving Turnouts, open to Single, Pairs or Tandems driven to a suitable vehicle. Ponies or Horses of any height, 4 years and over. Commercial Vehicles and Hackney Wagons are not eligible. To be eligible for Class 14 the Concours D’Elegance, you must be eligible for this class, 12, and entered in both (Concours will be judged separately but concurrently with all classes). Ineligible vehicles will not qualify for the appearance money even in apparently entered.
17 Pleasure Driving. Open to any type of vehicle to be judged 15% vehicle suitability, fit and cleanliness, 15% harness suitability, fit and cleanliness, 70% Driver and Groom, horse/pony way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal.
18 Concours D’Elegance. To be judged alongside Private Driving. The essence of this Class is the word “elegance” and the winner will be the turnout which, in the opinion of the judge, presents the most elegant effect. Attention may well be paid to the Driver and passenger’s costumes, but fancy dress or period costume is definitely barred. The whole object of this Class is to establish which turnout presents the most pleasing picture and normal judging criteria do not apply. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are not closely inspected. ONLY ENTRIES IN CLASS 16 ARE ELIGIBLE. Class 18 offers a £25 appearance prize for each eligible exhibitor and is free to enter. There will only be one £20 prize winner for the best entry.

RULES OF ENTRY
1. Exhibitors must made entries on the enclosed Entry Form by 14th August.
2. Exhibitors can make up to TWO entries per class in Floral Art section, unlimited in others.
3. Exhibits may be staged from 8am to NO LATER THAN 7PM ON Wed 26th August.
4. Exhibits must NOT be dismantled until 4:30pm on Show Day. Cars CANNOT come onto the showground earlier that 5:30pm to load up because of one-way traffic system.
5. The Committee will not be responsible for loss or damage to exhibits or personal property.
6. Judging will be according to the NAFAS Competitions Manual 4th Edition 2023.
7. The Perpetual Cups shall be held for one year and returned in good condition prior to the next show – suitably engraved. (A contribution towards some engraving may be given).
8. All exhibits staged on tabling 78cm height unless otherwise stated.
9. Our novice class is named as amateur, for exhibitors who are not florists or professional flower arrangers
10. Exhibits may be brought fully or partially completed in classes 6, 7, 9 & 12. In all other classes pre-assembled work may be included but should not predominate
11. All floral Art classes (Excl. 6, 7, 9 & 12) are eligible for BEST IN SHOW. The judge’s decision is FINAL.
12. Prize money must be collected from a committee member on show day in marquee by 4:30pm
13. Free entry tickets to show for anyone entering 2 or more classes in Section 1, or 3 entries or more in Section 2.
STAGING
Class titles may be interpreted in any way, providing natural plant material (fresh or dried) predominates. Artificial plant material is NOT PERMITTED. Accessories may be used in all classes unless otherwise stated. Staging materials provided by Show Committee for all classes will be cream or grey base & backing. ALL sizes are approximate.

Only 1 entry per person per class. All entries to be brought to the Showfield on WEDNESDAY 26th AUGUST 2026 12 NOON – 5pm. Judging will commence 5.30pm (the night before Show). Each exhibit must be labelled by the exhibitor on arrival.
Entries can be collected on Show Day after the Main Parade from approx. 4.30pm. Any uncollected items will not be returned. No liability is held by the Association for any damage or losses. By entering the Hidden Talents Competition, you understand that you are giving permission for the name of the exhibitor to be displayed adjacent to the exhibit (no ages will be displayed).
