IMPORTANT NOTES

CLASSES - If sufficient entries are present classes will be split further by age or breed, young stock classes may also be added. Dorchester Agricultural Society reserve the right to remove or merge classes. ADMISSION TICKETS - All persons over the age of 16 years wishing to enter the Showground must be in possession of a valid ticket/wristband or purchase one on the entry gate. Exhibitors are provided with an allowance of tickets with their entries: 2 X tickets will be issued for the first horse/pony entered, 1 X additional ticket for each subsequent horse/pony entered Additional tickets can be ordered on the entry form or at www.dorsetcountyshow.co.uk. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free and may be asked for proof of age. EQUINE PASSPORTS - Exhibitors are reminded that horses/ponies should travel with their current equine passport. DEFRA officials will be on site and inspections may be made. EQUINE INFLUENZA - Horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 - 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 - 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose. Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show. Foals: In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course. We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians. PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW OFFICE PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER, RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR - Any person riding a horse or pony (whether as a competitor or judge) anywhere on the showground must wear a hard hat of a standard approved by their appropriate governing body. Headgear must be worn with the chin strap

correctly and securely fastened at all times.

VETERINARY, FARRIER & FIRST AID - Vet in attendance: Dorset Equine, Whitcombe Racing Stables, Dorchester 01305 262295. A Farrier will be in attendance. GWP Medical and an Honorary Doctor will be in attendance from 07:00 on Show day. STABLING - Limited on site stabling is available at £42 per box/night or £80 for 2 nights. It is available from 5pm Friday 4th September and must be vacated by 11am on Monday 7th September. Stables booked may be occupied from 5pm on the day booked until 4pm the following day. Straw bedding is provided free of charge but no feed/fodder will be provided. Stabling fees for entries in the Coaching Marathon, Scurry, Private Driving and Heavy Horses will be refunded following the Show if entries are forward. Supreme Pony Championship will be judged on Saturday and Supreme Horse Championship will be judged on Sunday. Champion £150, Reserve Champion £50. These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider’s/handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the

judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner’s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in 2020.

NPS Qualifying Rounds

These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible (other than Open Part Bred Ridden & Open Part Bred in Hand). Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show in 2021. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. The Owner’s Membership cards must be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit.

The British Show Horse Association

Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Owners, Riders, In_Hand Handlers & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. DAY TICKETS Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form, or apply online on the BSHA website. Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes.

BSHA RISING STAR QUALIFIERS & FINAL AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS AGED 15 YEARS AND OVER

The two highest placed eligible Horses, not already qualified in the Rising Star qualifying classes (168 & 170), will qualify for the Rising Star Finals, to be held at The BSHA National Championship Show in September 2022. The Judges will not ride the exhibits in qualifiers but the judge will ride at the finals.

RULES

1. Open to Non-Members and Amateur BSHA members 15 years and over. Owners, Riders and Horses, are not required to be Members of the British Show Horse Association in-order to compete in the BSHA Rising Star qualifying classes, but the Rising Star Finals will require a day ticket. 2. These classes are specifically aimed at those Horses and Riders who are not regularly qualifying for the major Championship Shows and wish to improve. 3. Open to Horses which are stabled at home or in a DIY or non-show yard. 4. Horses to be ridden by an amateur, please see the current BSHA Rule Book. 5. No Professional is allowed to ride, to work-in (in any form), compete, or enter the Ring to groom/strip the Horse. 6. Failure to abide by the Rules may result in ineligibility to compete at the BSHA National Championship Show in any class. 7. The Judge will ride ALL the exhibits in the final. 8. To register for the Supreme Final at the BSHA National Championships Show on the 10th September you must upload your details on our website using the details on the back of the qualifying rosette.

Equifest

This Show is affiliated to Equifest, taking place at the East of England Showground in August 2023. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify.

Coloured Horse & Pony Society (CHAPS)

This Show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK) Both owner and rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS(UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS(UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the Judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS(UK) for the appropriate qualifier card. This Show is a Qualifier for the 2023 CHAPS (UK) Championship Show - date TBC. Please ensure you have your Qualifier Card with you. Applications for this available from early August. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members’ Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. All stallions four years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK) and must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception. Senior Showing And Dressage League (SSADL) SSADL Home Produced Qualifiers are OPEN to both Members and Non-Members of SSADL No Spurs, No Galloping, No Wearing of Face/Body Jewelry. Foals are NOT permitted SSADL Classes For In-Hand Classes- Minimum age of handler = 10 years old. First Ridden ponies/riders will be asked after the initial walk round to come into the centre of the ring. First Ridden Competitors will only canter in their individual shows. Lead Rein Riders: If a strip section is required a lead rein rider MUST stay mounted. STALLIONS- Either for In Hand or Ridden classes,

Competitors Must be 16 years of age or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot has been given. The same rider/handler/pony/ horse combination must stay the same from qualifier to Grand Finals, unless special circumstances should arise, then it will be left to the discretion of the directors and advisory committee to oversee this rule if required. New Qualification System:

This year all members will receive their own qualification card. This is to be signed in the at time of judging/presentation. This is the members responsibility to ensure the right qualifier is signed for. 1. The 1st to 2nd from each AGE section will qualify for the SSADL Members Open Challenge. ( If a competitor has already qualified the qualification can be passed down no lower the 5th place). 2. The two highest placed Mountain and Moorland ponies within a class will qualify for Members Mountain and Moorland Challenge. 3. The two highest placed Lead Rein/First Ridden ponies within a class will qualify for the Members Lead Rein/First Ridden Challenge. 4. NEW FOR 2022 5. The two highest placed Foreign Breeds animals within a class will qualify for the Members Foreign Breeds Challenge. 6. The winner from each class with qualify for the Senior of Year Championship Once a member has filled their qualification card to the relevant classes then said card must be sent in to the Office by normal post no later than the30th August 2022. REMEBER TO PHOTOCOPY YOUR CARD. Non - Members Qualification cards will be handed out in the ring to the two highest placed competitors in each section these are for Non-Members ONLY Qualification cards MUST be returned to SSADL Head Office within the 10-day period of date of show along with a 2022 Membership form completed and payment made. Once a qualification card/membership is sent in correctly along with payment only then will Members be eligible for the Members Challenge Preliminary rounds and Challenge Finals to the held at the SSADL National Championship Show on the 9th, 10th 11th September 2
