「광주국제인턴프로그램」은 광주국제교류센터가 해외청년인재 양성을 위해 광주시 소재 대학 유학생과 해외 거주 외국 국적의 학생 중 지역 문화교류 및 국제교류 분야의 직무 연수에 관심 있는 학생들을 대상으로 운영하는 인턴십 프로그 램입니다. 인턴십은 4개월 과정으로 운영되며, 각 기관으로 파견되어 3개월의 인턴십 실무를 시작하기 전에 1개월 동안 지역과 한 국을 보다 더 잘 이해하며, 한국 기관에서 한국인 직원들과 함께 근무하며 교류하고 소통하는데 도움이 되도록 ‘한국어집 중강좌’, ‘한국역사교실’, ‘한국문화체험’, ‘광주지역탐방’, ‘남도문화탐방’ 등의 오리엔테이션을 제공합니다.

2016년 광주국제인턴프로그램 1기에 참여한 4개국 총 7명의 인턴들은 ‘전남대학교 국제협력과’, ‘광주디자인센터’, ‘광 주관광컨벤션뷰로’, 그리고 ‘청소년활동진흥센터’ 로 파견되어 인턴십 활동을 수행했습니다. 이 인턴십 프로그램을 통해 인턴들은 문화교류·국제교류 기관의 실무 경험을 쌓고, 개개인의 역량을 개발함과 동시에 한 국의 기업 문화에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있으며, 지역 기관은 외국인 인턴을 통해 기관의 국제화는 물론 다국적 네트워크 를 확장하는 계기가 될 것입니다.

The Gwangju International Internship Program (GIIP) is a short-term internship program for training international youth by giving them a chance to work in cultural and international exchange organizations.

The internship is a four-month program, preceded by a one-month orientation program, including an intensive Korean language class, Korean history and cultural understanding lectures, a Korean culture experience program and a tour around Gwangju and Jeolla-do for a better understanding of working with Koreans in Korean organizations.

Seven interns from four countries participated in the GIIP 2016, working at ‘Chonnam National University International Affairs’, ‘Gwangju Design Center’, ‘Gwangju Convention and Visitors Bureau’ and ‘Gwangju Youth Service Center’.

Through this internship program, international students can train themselves in practical tasks, strengthen their abilities, and understand more about the social experiences of working in Korean organizations. Also, by providing the internships, organizations can globalize their members’ experiences and expand their own networks. [ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ] ● Undergraduate or graduate international students studying at universities in Gwangju. ● Undergraduate or graduate international students who are interested in Korean culture and currently staying in their home country. ● Students from Gwangu City’s sister cities or friendship cities are preferred. ● TOPIK Level 3 will be preferred. (Ability to communicate in Korean) ● Those who are available to participate in the entire orientation program. ● Those who are available to participate in monthly workshops. ● Those who are available to follow the internship organization’s working schedule. 인턴십 기관 GIIP Organizations 광주국제교류센터 광주국제교류센터는 ‘비영리민간단체(Non-Profit Organization)’로 전국 최초의 국제교류센터이다. 광주광역시 및 전 라남도 지역민과 외국인들이 어울려 소통하고 교류하는 장을 제공함으로써 상호 문화이해 증진 및 민간교류 활성화를 기하고 문화도시 광주의 국제적 위상을 높이는 데 앞장서고 있다. 지구촌 시민들이 어울려 사는 광주, 문화로 소통하는 국제교류, 청년이 꿈을 키워가는 세계, 협력을 통한 지역 국제화의 기여를 목표로 하며 이를 위해 외국인 생활상담, 광 주뉴스 발행, GIC 도서실, GIC 토크, GIC 투어, 홈스테이, 글로벌 문화교실, 자원활동가 양성, 인턴십, 세계인권도시포 럼 주관 등 많은 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 광주국제교류센터는 광주·전남에 거주하거나 방문하는 내·외국인들을 위 한 서비스를 확대하고 내외국인간의 네트워크를 확충하는 등 지역의 국제화를 위하여 그 활동영역을 지속적으로 넓혀 나가는 중이다.

GWANGJU INTERNATIONAL CENTER Gwangju International Center is a non-profit organization and the first international center in Korea. This center helps foreigners communicate with Gwangju·Jeonnam residents, so people can understand each

others’ cultures well and it leads to raising Gwangju’s position in the international society. The center has four missions. First, providing services to international residents and visitors to Gwangju. Second, promoting cultural exchanges between diverse groups of people. Third, training young people through interactive activities. Finally, contributing to regional internationalization through cooperation. To achieve these goals, this center operates many programs like GIC Counseling, Gwangju News, GIC Library, GIC Talk, GIC Tour, Homestay, Global Culture Class, volunteer and internship programs, World Human Rights Cities Forum, and many others. GIC is the only network between local residents and foreigners, and is working hard on making various services for them.

광주의 디자인산업의 선진화를 주도하는 광주디자인센터는 디자인 시장의 국제화에 대비하고 디자인 산업을 육성하기 위하여 지역전통산업 및 특화산업을 연계하여 지역산업의 경쟁력을 강화하고 지역 경제의 활성화에 기여함을 목적으로 한다. 또한 디자인 융합산업 육성기반을 확립하고 디자인 비즈니스 시장을 확대하며 디자인국제교류 및 디자인 진흥, 성 장 지향적 혁신조직 구현을 목표로 하고 있다. 주로 SNS 운영 등 온라인 홍보 추진과 내외국인 대상으로 한 홍보 추진 등을 통한 제7회 광주디자인비엔날레 행사 해외 홍보를 하고 있으며, 해외 참여 작가 관리 및 자료정리 등 네트워크를 관리하고 있다.

GWANGJU DESIGN CENTER Gwangju Design Center, leading the design industry, has a goal of realizing a locally specified design business complex and design hub of the southwest region of Korea. Also, there are five promotion strategies.

First, construction and implementation of an R&D system. Second, construction of equipment suitable for locally specified industries. Third, development execution of professional training programs. Fourth, promotion of joint projects and joint cooperation. Finally, creation of continuous and self-supporting profit models.

Also, there are some main business projects like online promotion by SNS, overseas advertisement of the 7th Gwangju Biennale, administrating networks by managing foreign artists, organizing materials, and others.

광주청소년활동진흥센터는 광주광역시 청소년활동을 총괄, 지원하는 기관이다. 현재 센터에서는 청소년들을 위해 다양한 프로그램들을 진행 중에 있는데, 대표적으로 청소년수련활동인증제, 국제청 소년성취포상제, 청소년활동정보제공, 창의적 체험활동 등이 있다. 이러한 활동들의 공통점은 청소년의 균형 있는 성 장을 위해 필요한 활동(수련활동, 교류활동, 문화활동 등)을 하게끔 도와주고 기록으로 남겨 청소년의 미래에도 도움이 되게 하는 것이다. 주로 국내자원봉사, 해외봉사활동, 청소년직업체험활동 등을 운영하고 있다.

GWANGJU YOUTH SERVICE CENTER Gwangju Youth Center is an organization that handles and supports youth activities in Gwangju.

This center operates various programs for the youth such as certification for youth activities, award for internatonal youth achievement offering information about many programs, creative experiential activities, and others. Common aspects of these programs are helping teenagers to do necessary activities (youth training, exchange activities, cultural activities) for their improvement, and also it is recorded through the internet, so it will help their careers in the future.

This center mainly operates domestic volunteering, global volunteering and job experiences for youth.

전남대학교 국제협력본부는 대학의 국제화를 위해 2008년 신설되어 해외대학과의 협정체결, 학생 초청 및 파견 등 국 제교류 관련 업무와 외국인 유학생 입시를 포함하여 교내 외국인 유학생의 전반적인 생활을 지원하고 있다. 전 세계 40여 개국 300여 대학과 글로벌 네트워크를 구축하고 교환학생 파견 프로그램 등을 통하여 많은 전남대 학생 들의 글로벌 역량 강화를 실현하고 있다. 국제교류 관련 정보를 총망라한 국제교류박람회, 해외 자매대학의 우수한 교수 진이 영어로 진행하는 하계 계절학기 강좌(국제여름학교), 외국인 유학생과 함께하는 국제교류의 날 행사 등을 통하여 국외 파견뿐만 아니라 교내 국제화의 질적인 향상을 도모함으로써 큰 호응을 얻고 있다.

CHONNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS Chonnam National University International Affairs was established on September 18th, 2008 in order to support the relationship between foreign universities, international exchange tasks, and foreign students’ lives, including entrance exams.

By making a global network with 300 universities in 40 countries, and an exchange student program, many Chonnam National University students are strengthening their skills in the international field. Main programs include an international exchange exhibition that involves international exchange information, a summer session (International Summer School) with intelligent professors from affiliated universities lecturing in English, and International Exchange Day with foreign students.

광주관광컨벤션뷰로 광주관광컨벤션뷰로는 광주를 국제회의장소와 관광장소로 홍보하는 일을 하고 있다. 주로 컨벤션마케팅사업과 관광마 케팅사업을 진행한다. 컨벤션마케팅사업은 다목적 컨벤션시설과 최첨단 서비스를 모두 갖추고 소규모 국제회의부터 대규모 국제회의 까지 부 족함 없는 완벽한 행사를 위해 항상 준비되어 있는 장소인 광주 컨벤션시설을 홍보한다. 또한 다양한 국제행사 경험으 로 준비된 컨벤션마케팅팀의 전문적인 컨설팅 및 적극적인 행·재정 지원 서비스가 하나된 파트너로서 끝까지 함께 최고 의 행사가 될 수 있도록 맞춤형 국제회의를 제공한다. 그리고 국제회의의 유치를 활성화시키고, 국제회의 개최지원을 하 며, 국제회의를 홍보한다. 관광마케팅팀은 해외관광객 유치를 위한 통역, 인센티브 관광, 해외청소년 문화 교류활동, 한중 대학생SNS서포터즈 등 광주·전남의 관광 및 문화 인프라를 홍보하여 아시아문화중심의 도시 광주를 세계 속의 광주로 한걸음 더 도약 하여 국 제관광중심의 산업 도시가 될 수 있도록 다양한 아이템으로 지원하고 있다.

GWANGJU TOURISM CONVENTION BUREAU Gwangju Tourism Convention Bureau is an organization that promotes Gwangju City as an international conference place and tourist site. This center mainly operates a Convention Marketing Business, and a Tour Marketing Business.

First, the Convention Marketing Business promotes Gwangju convention facilities with cutting-edge services and international meeting places. Also, convention marketing workers with various experiences in the international event field offer professional consulting and services to make the best conference. Furthermore, they support and promote international conventions held in Gwangju.

Second, the Tour Marketing Team promotes Gwangju·Jeolla cultural infrastructure such as translation for inviting foreign visitors, an incentive tour, cultural exchange activity for international youth, and SNS supporters between Korean and Chinese university students. Also, this team offers various items to lead Gwangju City in becoming a center of the international tour industry.

광주청소년들과 교류했던 소중한 4개월 수티라 (태국, 광주청소년활동진흥센터) 저는 한국에서 할 수 있는 인턴십 기회를 찾아보던 중, 우연히 2016 광주국제인턴프로그램(GIIP 2016)을 찾게 되었습 니다. 그러나 제가 조금 늦게 이 프로그램을 발견하게 되어 기간 내에 지원하지 못했는데, 다행히 프로그램 담당자인 이 보람 팀장님이 지원서를 받아주시고 면접도 보게 해 주셨습니다. 저는 최근에 영어 석사학위를 땄고 제 고향으로 돌아 가 경력으로 인정받을 수 있는 아시아 내의 다양한 국제사회에서 업무 경험을 쌓아보고 싶었습니다. 저에게 한국은 굉 장히 발전되어 있고, 전문적인 분야에서 특수성을 보이며 충분한 문화적 배경을 가지고 있는 나라이었기에, 저에게 있 어서 최고의 선택이었습니다. 이 인턴십 프로그램은 8월 한 달간의 오리엔테이션으로 시작되었고, 저는 7명의 인턴들과 함께 지내며 한국의 문화와 한국어를 배울 수 있었습니다. 처음에는 다른 인턴들이 저보다 한참 어렸기 때문에 적응하는 데에 시간이 필요했지만, 다양한 활동들을 함께 하면서 굉장히 빨리 적응하고 친해질 수 있었습니다. 또한 한 달간 저희와 함께 해주었던 이정민

2016 인턴십 참여 후기 Reviews of the GIIP 2016

오리엔테이션 기간이 끝나고 각자 일을 하게 될 기관이 정해졌을 때, 저는 시간이 굉장히 빨리 지나간 것에 대해 놀랐고, 제게 여동생들과 같았던 인턴 친구들을 자주 만나지 못한다는 게 아쉬웠습니다. 또 한편으로는 광주청소년활동진흥센터 (GYSC)에서 일하게 된다는 것이 너무 기대되었습니다. 센터에서 일하게 된 첫날부터 지금까지, 이성훈 담당자님과 모 든 직원분들은 항상 친절하게 대해주셨고 한국에서는 어떤 방식으로 일을 해야 하는지를 보여주셨으며, 인내심을 가지 고 천천히 일을 가르쳐주셨습니다. 그 분들은 저를 직장에서 뿐만 아니라, 제가 이곳에서 사는 데에 어려움을 겪거나 궁 금한 점이 있으면 언제든 도와주셨습니다. 이제 한국에서 5개월간의 인턴십이 곧 끝난다는 게 믿기지가 않습니다. 바로 어제 시작한 것 같은데 말이죠. 제겐 아직 하고 싶은 일, 가고 싶은 곳, 먹고 싶은 음식, 만나고 싶은 사람들이 많습니다. 2016 광주국제인턴프로그램은 과거에는 생각지도 못했던 저의 모습을 발견하게 해주었습니다. 또한 전문성을 높이고 더욱 성숙해지는 계기가 되었으며, 친구 혹 은 가족과 같은 새로운 사람들을 만나고 새로운 경험을 할 수 있는 계기가 되었습니다. 광주에서의 제 생활은 광주국제교류센터 직원 분들과 청소년활동진흥센터 직원 분들, 그리고 2016 광주인턴프로그램 에 참여한 다른 인턴들 덕분에 정말 행복했습니다. 또한 이번 인턴십 프로그램에 참여할 수 있게 되어 정말 다행으로 생 각합니다. 이곳에서 더 오래 머물고 싶지만, 제 고향으로 돌아가야 한다는 것이 너무 아쉽습니다. 고향으로 돌아가서도 광주에서 보낸 시간과 모든 기억들을 소중히 여기겠습니다. 그리고 저는 이 인턴십 프로그램을 통해 제가 얻은 경험이 태 국에서 제가 취직할 때 제 자신을 더 강하고 능력 있는 사람으로 어필하는데 큰 도움이 될 것이라 믿습니다. 감사합니다.

Those Four Precious Months of Youth Exchange Suttira Kaewthep (Thailand, Gwangju Youth Service Center)

I stumbled upon the Gwangju International Internship Program 2016 (GIIP 2016) announcement by chance while searching for an internship opportunity in South Korea. Although I found the news a little too late, Boram Lee, intership program manager, was so kind to let me apply and arranged an interview for me. I have recently graduated with a Master’s degree in English and I would like to earn more working experience in a global scope, yet still within the Asian culture context where I could adapt it into a career in my home country. In addition, South Korea serves as a great selection for me since the country is very well developed, encloses uniqueness in the professional area, and has a rich cultural background.

Our internship program started with a month long orientation in August where all the seven participants would spend time living together and learning about Korean culture and Korean language. I would say I needed to adjust myself a lot at first, since the rest of the participants are a lot younger than me, but we started to get along in a very short time thanks to a number of diverse activities that GIIP had arranged for us. Our coordinator, Jeongmin Lee, was also one of the big factors that drew us together by virtue of her friendliness and dedication.

When orientation period came to an end, I felt surprised how fast the time passed by and felt reluctant to

be apart from all the participants who have become like sisters to me, since we had to start working. At the same time, I also felt excited to begin my internship with Gwangju Youth Service Center (GYSC). From the first day at GYSC and until now, all of the staff and director Seonghoon Lee, have been very friendly and patient in teaching and showing me the Korean way in a working field. Their support does not only occur at work, but they also take care of all my troubles and curiosity about living in Korea.

It is hard to believe that my five -month long internship program in South Korea is coming to an end soon.

It feels like we just started yesterday. To me, there are still a great number of things I want to do, places I want to go, food I want to eat, and people I want to meet. GIIP 2016 has brought me to discover myself in a way that I have never thought before. I have become more professional and mature and, at the same time, I have embraced so many new experiences and people who have become both friends and family to me.

Apart from the cold winter, it can be said that my life in Gwangju is almost 100% problem-free because of a great support from the Gwangju International Center staff, Gwangju Youth Service Center team, and all the participants of GIIP 2016. I feel very grateful to have had a chance to join this internship program. Even though I wish I could stay longer, I know it is time to return to my country. I will forever cherish the memories and time I have spent in Gwangju and I believe that, with the experiences I have earned from this internship program, I will become a strong and successful candidate for my chosen career path in Thailand.

10월, 특별한 것 없이 우리는 계속 일하고, 인연을 이어갔다. 시간은 쏜살같이 지나가고, 이별이 다가온다. 그러나 슬퍼하지 마라, 나의 친구여 우리는 계속 만날 것이니. 앞으로도, 우리 꿈속에서도.

어느 순간 벌써 12월이 와버렸습니다. 돌아보니, 이번 학기는 정말 색다르고 훌륭한 시간이었습니다. 제가 앞에 시 로 적은 것처럼, 모든 이야기는 8월부터 시작합니다. 저는 아직도 인턴 친구들을 처음 만났던 날이 기억납니다. 저와 위레이는 처음 본 사람들과 함께 지내야 한다는 사 실에 무척 걱정하고 있었고, 심지어 위레이와 같은 방을 쓰면 좋겠다고 담당자께 말씀도 드릴만큼 큰 걱정을 하고 있 었습니다. 저희 둘이 함께 방을 써도 좋다는 허락을 받고나서 행복했지만 다른 사람들과 같이 생활해야 한다는 사실 에 약간은 실망도 했었습니다. 그렇게 처음 게스트하우스에 도착했을 때, 문이 열리고 저희와 함께 한 달간 지낼 담 당자인 귀여운 얼굴의 여성분이 나와 저희를 반겨주었던 것이 기억납니다.

8월 한 달간, 많은 것들을 하게 되었는데 그 모든 것들이 ‘함께’라는 단어로 정의된다고 해도 과언이 아닐 만큼 인턴 친구들과 저는 공부, 여행, 식사, 대화, 영화감상, 여가 즐기기 등 다양한 활동들을 함께 했습니다. 이렇게 모든 활동 을 같이 했기 때문에 시간이 지나고 저희끼리만 알 수 있는 농담도 할 만큼 돈독해졌습니다. 지금 이렇게 글을 쓰고 있는 도중에도 저희가 함께한 시간들이 생각나 웃음이 나오네요. 하지만 이렇게 다함께 즐기는 시간은 저희 모두가 다른 곳으로 근무를 배정 받았기 때문에 8월을 끝으로 거의 못하 게 되었습니다. 그래도 매달 정기적으로 워크숍을 열어 각자의 인턴십 기관에 대해 발표하고 저녁 식사하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이렇게 워크숍을 진행하면서 매달 친구들을 만날 수 있다는 것이 너무 좋았습니다. 9월 말, 처음으로 워 크숍을 하고 나서 헤어질 때 서로에게 “다음 달에 보자”고 했던 말이 기억납니다. 물론 저희 모두는 이 말을 농담으로 했지만, 친구들을 매일 보고 싶은 저에게는 여전히 슬픈 말입니다. 하지만 매달 진행되었던 워크숍은 저희의 우정을 더욱 깊게 만들어준다는 것을 느꼈습니다. 이런 느낌을 더 절실히 느끼게 한 것은 11월 워크숍이었는데, 발표 후에 함께하는 저녁식사에 저와 솜(수티라)은 청소년센터에 처리해야할 일이 생겨 참석하지 못할 것이라는 말을 전해들은 후에 저는 굉장히 실망했습니다. 그리고 워크숍 당일, 발표를 마

구들이 아닌 보물 같은 존재들이라는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그러나 이 인턴 프로그램에 있어서 가장 중요한 것은 우정 이 아니라 9월부터 12월까지 광주청소년활동진흥센터에서 진행한 인턴 근무였습니다. 사실 저는 사무실에서 일해 본 경험도 처음이었고, 한국인들과 함께 일한 것 또한 처음이었습니다. 그러나 다른 문화와 다른 관습을 가진 기관이 었지만 적응하는 데 오랜 시간이 걸리지 않았고 많은 것들을 배울 수 있었습니다. 광주청소년활동진흥센터의 직원 분들은 굉장히 친절하고 인내심이 깊은 분들입니다. 대부분의 한국인들과 조금이라 도 회사에서 일 해본 경험이 있는 사람들은 알만한 규칙들이 그런 경험이 없는 저에게는 생소했습니다. 다행스럽게도 저희 담당자와 다른 분들이 쉽고 부드럽게 설명해주셔서 이해하기 쉬웠습니다. 어떤 하루는 개인 사정으로 반차를 쓰 려고 팀장님께만 말씀드렸더니 제게 친절히 담당자에게 먼저 말해야 한다고 알려주셨습니다. 일하는 동안 저는 이것 말고도 많은 실수를 했는데 만약 다른 회사였다면 저는 이유도 모르고 따돌림 받았을지도 모릅니다. 그렇기 때문에 모 든 것을 가르쳐주는 이 센터에서 일하게 된 것을 정말 다행으로 생각합니다. 개인적으로 인턴 근무를 하면서 가장 중요하게 배운 것은 한 단체, 혹은 회사에서 다른 사람들과 잘 어울리는 방법이 었습니다. 공유하고, 친절하게 대하고, 이타심을 기르고 불평을 줄이는 것들이 그 방법이었습니다. 또한 갈등이 생기 면 대화로 풀어내는 것이 가장 효과적이라는 것도 알게 되었습니다. 광주청소년활동진흥센터에서의 경험은 미래에 저의 직장생활에서 뿐만 아니라, 일상 생활하는 데에도 많은 도움을 주리라 확신합니다. 저에게 색다른 삶을 경험해 볼 수 있는 기회를 준 광주국제교류센터에 진심으로 감사드리며, 끝은 또 다른 시작이라는 말로 끝맺고 싶습니다. 감

Suddenly I realized that, December has already arrived.

To look back, this semester was so different, and so splendid.

Just like what I wrote in the beginning, all stories have begun from this August...

Still, I remember that before meeting each other, we - I mean Yulei and I - were so worried about living together with other strangers , we even tried to connect with the responsible person and hope that Yulei and I could live in the same room.

I also remember that after we got the answer that the two of us could stay together but also must live with others at the same time, we felt happy but still a little disappointed. .

I even remember the situation of the first day that the two of us arrived at the guesthouse. We knocked, the door opened, we saw a cute face first and then she came out and welcomed us. Later we understood that she is the person responsible.

From August, I remember many things, but then I found that all the things are related with the same word: together. We do almost everything together. Studying, traveling, eating, talking, watching movies, enjoying entertainment... So much that we even share a lot of joking that only we can understand because of the same experiences between us. For example, Jeongmin’s “why why why” , my “peach” and Dongxue’s “enough”. Even now I as I am writing this article, I still begin to smile because of these things.

All the “together” memories almost stopped at the end of August, because then we began to work at different places. Monthly, we have had a workshop to have a presentation and then have a meeting party. That means we can meet each other only once a month. Still, I remember that after the first workshop in Septem-

sentence with laughing, for me, still, I felt a kind of deep sadness.

One month’s group living made a deep friendship between us, much deeper than I thought it would be at first. What made me realize this, was the workshop in November, because we had a program and we had to go to work for that after the personal presentation, so — Som and I couldn’t ’ join the after-workshop party. In fact, at the moment that I got the information about it, around the middle of November, I began to feel annoyed and anxious. And then, on that day, we finished the presentation, went to a restaurant together, began talking and waiting for the food as before. And then, we got the message that our center’s responsible person has already been waiting for us outside, and that time was five minutes earlier than our appointed time. Suddenly, I felt so much despair and hopelessness and tears just started running down out of control. At that moment I began to know that we are not only friends, or, in other words, for me, the other members of our group, are not only normal friends, but they are important to me and I treasure every opportunity that we can meet.

However, friendship is not the most important part of the whole program, as the main part is still the later internship life , from September to December.

To tell the truth, I have had no other experience of working in an office and this is the first time working with Koreans. Although every corporation has a different culture and different habits, and I did spend some time adapting to our center, I learned a lot from our time at the Youth Service Center.

ber, before we separated, we said “see you next month” to each other. Although all of us were saying this

Koreans, or whoever just has a little bit of experience in company life, will know them, but for me, I knew nothing. Luckly, our responsible person, and also others, used a more easy and soft way to teach me. One thing was that, one day I wanted to have a half day free to deal with some personal things. So I just told it to our team leader and skipped my responsible person, and this made both of them feel startled and maybe a little shocked. Then my leader told me personally that for this kind of thing, I should tell her first and then she would tell our team leader later. And this is just one example. In fact, I made a lot of mistakes like this.

I think if I was in a company maybe I would have already become a 왕따 without knowing the reason. So I felt really thankful for it.

Personally, what I think the most important thing that I’ve learned during this period of internship life, is how to get along with others in an organization, or maybe also similar as in a company. To share, to be friendly, less selfish, and complain less. Then, when there is a conflict, communication will be more effective. The experience at GYC will help me a lot in the future, not only for work, but also for daily life.

Anyway, thanks for GIC to offer me such a chance to get a different life course.

오리엔테이션을 시작한 것이 어제의 일처럼 아직도 생생한데 어느새 저의 인턴 생활이벌써 끝나가네요. 편입생이기 때 문에 평소에 수강해야 할 전공 수업이 너무 많아서 이러한 인턴 프로그램에 참여하는 것은 처음이었습니다. 처음에는 오 리엔테이션을 왜 한 달씩이나 하는지 잘 이해하지 못했지만 그 시간을 통해 인턴 생활에 도움이 되는 평소에 잘 안 쓰이 는 사무용어(비지니스 한국어)를 배우고 다른 인턴들과 광주탐방, 문화체험 등을 하며 광주와 한국문화의 아름다움을 함께 느끼고 더욱 친해질 수 있었던 것 같습니다. 한 달 동안의 오리엔테이션이 끝난 후 9월부터 전남대학교 국제협력과 행정팀에서 인턴 생활을 시작했습니다. 지난 학 기에 국제협력과에서 사무보조로 일한 덕분에 아마도 다른 인턴들에 비해 인턴십 업무에 익숙한 편일 것 같습니다. 저 희 팀은 유학생 지원업무를 담당하고 있어 많은 유학생들이 사무실을 방문하는데, 그들의 어려움을 도와주는 것이 제 업 무 중 하나입니다. 수시로 이메일을 확인하고, 통역, 번역, 정산서 만들기, 보험 가입여부 확인 등 컴퓨터로 수행하는 업 무도 하고 있습니다. 또한 비자 연장 기간이나 입시 기간에는 서류 확인하는 업무도 하는데 서류가 부족하거나 확인해 야 할 사항이 있으면 학생들에게 전화를 걸어 서류를 챙기는 일도 있습니다. 그 외에 국제협력과에서 운영하는 다양한 행사에 운영보조로 참여하기도 합니다. 하루에 8시간 동안 일하다 보니 직장생활이 정말 힘들다는 것을 알게 되었습니 다. 국제협력과의 인턴 생활이 바쁘지만 오히려 더 많은 것을 배웠습니다. 공부를 많이 할수록 성적이 오르는 것처럼 일 도 할수록 능률이 오르는 것 같습니다.

활에 단체의식(공동체의식)이 얼마나 중요한 일인지를 깨닫게 되었습니다. 저는 원래 소심한 편인데, 인턴 생활을 하며

다양한 사람들과 교류하며 점점 활발해진 것 같습니다. 많은 유학생 친구들을 알게 되었고 우정도 쌓을 수 있었습니다. 광주국제인턴프로그램에 함께 참여한 태국에서 온 솜, 칠레에서 온 가비, 프랑스에서 온 쏠렌과 만나게 된 것도 정말 좋 습니다. 이 프로그램이 아니었으면 제가 언제 중국인, 한국인이 아닌 다른 국적의 외국인 친구들과 친해질 수 있었을지 모르겠습니다. 인턴십 동기로 시작했지만 우리들은 어느새 친한 친구들이 되어버렸습니다. 이 프로그램을 통해 학교에서 배운 지식을 생활 속에서 응용할 수 있는 기회를 얻었을 뿐 아니라 수업 중에 배울 수 없 는 지식도 많이 얻게 되었습니다. 정말 좋은 경험을 쌓았고 앞으로 제 꿈을 이루는데 많은 도움이 될 것이라고 생각합니 다. 평소에 이 프로그램에 관심을 가지고 있는 제 후배들에게 공부에만 집중하지 말고 유학생활 중 인턴십도 하며 더 의 미 있게 보내라는 조언도 했습니다. 마지막으로 프로그램 담당자 이보람 팀장님과 활동 중에 도와주신 광주국제교류센터 직원 여러분에게 고맙다는 마음을 전하고 이 글을 마치도록 하겠습니다. 그동안 정말 감사했습니다. 어디를 가든 잊지 않을게용.^^

I still remember my first day of the orientation like yesterday and now my internship is almost finished. This opportunity has been my first time applying for an internship, because back at home I usually took a lot of classes for my major. At first, I couldn’t understand why we had to do an orientation for one month, but we learned helpful information for living in Korea and we experienced the beauty of Gwangju and got closer with other applicants by participating in the Gwangju Tour and culture experience.

After the month-long orientation, from September, I started my internship at the Administration Team in the International Affairs Office of Chonnam National University. I knew how to work in an office setting a little because I assisted with office work last semester. My team is in charge of international student support, so many students visited our office and part of my job was to assist them. Also, I did computer work like checking e-mail frequently, translating, interpreting, making a statement of accounts, checking their insurance, etc. During visa extension time, or the entrance examination, I usually checked the file, and checked it by phone with students. Also, when there have been many events held by my team, I joined as an assistant.

While working for over eight hours, I could learn that working is difficult and hard.

I also think it is important to be an active member of society, and Korea taught me that community spirit is also important. I was a little bit of an introvert before I worked here, but I changed to being more active while working and communicating with others. By doing the internship here, I could get closer with many international students, and thanks to the Gwangju International Internship program, I made friends from Thailand, Chile, and France. We first started as internship fellows , but we have now become friends.

Through this program, I could get a chance to apply my knowledge to work, and learn a lot of things that can’t be learned in school. I had a great experience here, and it will be helpful for reaching my goal. I also advise my friends at school to do an internship and have a meaningful time.

Lastly, I want say thank you to program manager Boram Lee, and also all the staff of the Gwangju International Center. I will always remember the time I spent here wherever I go. Thank you.

국제업무도 익히고 한국어 실력도 늘었어요 솔렌 (프랑스, 전남대학교 국제협력본부)

저는 프랑스에서 석사과정을 졸업한 후 광주에서 두 번의 인턴십을 하는 동안에, 한국에 더 머무르며 한국의 우수한 국 립대학인 전남대학교 국제협력본부에서 일하기로 결정했습니다. 사기업과 비영리단체, 이렇게 두 곳에서 인턴으로 근무하고 나니, 공공기관의 근무환경도 경험해보고 싶은 마음이 생겼 습니다. 공공기관에서의 인턴 근무는 정말 가치 있고 또 많이 배울 수 있었던 경험이었습니다. 조용한 아침의 나라 한국 에서 처음 인턴십을 끝냈을 때 저는 제가 한국의 근무 환경을 충분히 알게 되었다고 생각했습니다. 그런데 이번 전남대 학교 국제협력본부에서의 인턴경험은 제가 상상했던 것보다 많은 것을 알게 해주었습니다. 다양한 언어를 구사하는 한 국인 직원과 다양한 국적을 가진 외국인 인턴들과 함께 일하면서 대학의 국제사무가 어떻게 진행되고, 해외 파트너와 사 업을 할 때는 어떤 것들이 필요한지에 대해 이해할 수 있는 기회가 있었습니다. 또한 다양한 국적을 가진 사람들이 있는 이곳에서 다른 문화권 사람들과 일을 할 때는 겸손해야하고, 다른 사람이 먼저 요청할 필요 없이 본인 스스로 일을 해나 가야 한다는 것도 알게 되었습니다. 그리고 일을 할 때는 열정적이어야 하고 사람들의 기대를 넘어서야 한다는 것 또한 제가 배울 수 있는 점이었습니다. 한국은 계급적인 사회이지만 조직에서 무언가 의미 있는 일을 하고 인정받고 싶다면, 주도적인 사람이 되어야합니다. 이번 인턴십을 하면서 느낀 한국 사람들의 친절함은 잊지 못할 것입니다. 같은 언어를 사용하지 않더라도, 한국 사람들 은 당신에 대해 알아가려고 노력하고 최대한 당신을 도울 것입니다. 또한 저는 지난 4개월 간 한국어 실력이 많이 발전 했는데, 동료들이 저에게 이야기할 때 영어 대신 한국어를 사용하여 저의 한국어 공부를 도와주었기 때문이었습니다. 결국, 전남대학교 국제협력본부에서의 근무는 저의 한국어 실력을 향상시키는데 도움이 되었고, 저에게 주어진 프로젝 트를 빠르고 효율적으로 처리할 수 있는 능력도 쌓을 수 있었던 좋은 경험이었습니다.

While I just graduated with my Masters’ Degree in France, and after doing two internships in Gwangju, I decided to stay longer in Korea, and work at the Office of International Affairs of the first public university of South Korea, Chonnam National University (CNU).

After working as an intern in different private companies, family-owned businesses and at an NPO, I was eager to discover the working environment of a public institution. This first experience was highly enriching and I learned a lot from it. After having already completed an internship in the Land of the Morning Calm, I thought I knew the working environment of Korea. However, this experience at CNU taught me more than I had imagined. I had the chance to work alongside multi-lingual Korean officers as well as other foreign interns, to understand how the workings of the international office of a university, and the requirements for doing business with international partners. Every coordinator welcomed me and treated me as a normal student worker. I had the opportunity to assist several of my colleagues in their daily work, and to participate in larger projects such as CNU International Day or the International Exchange Students Farewell Party, for which I prepared all of the promotional material and contents. Working with people from a different culture and in a city where very few foreigners come from your country makes you humble and forces you to work in

a more autonomous way, as people will not necessarily ask you first to help them. You have to be passionate

Mastering Work and My Korean

and always do more than what is expected from you. Korea is a hierarchical country but if you want to be recognized and do meaningful work among a Korean team, you need to be proactive.

What I will remember from this internship is the kindness of Koreans. It doesn’t matter if you do not speak the same language, they will still try to know more about you and assist you as much as possible. This is also how my Korean skills improved a lot during these four months, as my colleagues preferred not using English as their prime way of addressing me.

Finally, working at the Office of International Affairs of Chonnam National University allowed me to improve my listening skills, and my ability to work fast and efficiently under pressure and on last-minute projects.

조동설 (중국, 광주관광컨벤션뷰로)

전남대학교 유학생활 마지막 학기를 어떻게 더 알차게 보내고 보다 다양한 경험을 할 수 있을까 고민하던 중 인턴십 프 로그램 홍보물을 접하게 되었다. 한국 기관에 취업하고 싶다고 막연히 생각만 하던 중 광주국제인턴프로그램이 좋은 기 회인 것 같아 바로 지원하게 되었다. 친한 친구들과 함께 지원했는데, 모두 합격해서 프로그램에 함께 참여하여 더 좋았 던 것 같다.

8월 한 달동안 우리는 모두 함께 광주국제교류센터에서 오리엔테이션을 받았다. 주로 비즈니스한국어와 한국문화, 관광 등을 교육을 받았는데, 오리엔테이션 기간 동안 칠레 동생과 태국 언니도 사귀고 친해질 수 있어서 정말 즐거웠다. 광주 국제교류센터 한국어 선생님들도 친절하게 가르쳐 주고 직원들도 가족처럼 많이 챙겨줘서 정말 감사드리고 싶다. 오리 엔테이션 기관탐방 때 광주관광컨벤션뷰로를 처음 방문했는데, 요즘 사람들이 여행을 많이 해서 관광산업이 인기가 많 기 때문에 나는 방문하기 전부터 뷰로에 대한 관심이 높았다. 감사하게도 광주관광컨벤션뷰로로 인턴 파견이 되어 관광마케팅팀에서 일하게 되었다. 인턴십을 시작하기 전에는 새로 운 도전에 대한 두려움이 있었지만, 막상 인턴십을 시작하고보니 ‘과거에는 내가 정말 사소한 걸로 고민했었구나’라는 생 각이 들었다. 관광마케팅팀으로 배치 받은 후 바로 업무를 시작하였다. 관광마케팅팀에서는 해외관광객 유치를 위한 통역, 인센티브 관광, 해외청소년 문화 교류활동, 한중 대학생 SNS서포터

여 국제관광중심의 산업 도시가 될 수 있도록 다양한 아이템으로 지원하고 있는데, 나는 주로 한·중 대학생 SNS서포터 즈단의 포스팅 수집 및 홍보주제 공지, 중국유학생 문화·관광 체험행사 및 체험보고서 번역 그리고 중국 여행 사이트를 통해 광주를 홍보하는 업무를 맡았다. 출근 첫째 주부터 전용 전화기를 설치해 주셨는데 나는 전화 받기가 두려웠다. 어 느 날은 다른 직원들이 다 외근이라 내가 전화를 받게 되었는데, 막상 받고 나니 전혀 두려운 일이 아니었다. 둘째 주에 는 내 명함을 만들어 주었는데, 인생에 첫 명함이라 정말 기뻤고 감회가 남달랐다. 팀 업무 외에도 다양한 회사 행사에도 참여하였는데, 2016 광주문화관광프럼을 위해 수많은 참가자들의 명찰도 만들고, 행사물품도 챙겼으며, 행사 당일에는 방문자 현장등록도 돕고 행사장 사진 촬영도 진행했다. 돌이켜 생각해보면 인턴십이 참 좋은 경험이 되었던 것 같다. 수많은 업무를 맡아 진행하며 실수가 없을 때에는 팀장님 께 칭찬도 받아 뿌듯했고, SNS 서포터즈 위촉식에서 나와 같은 많은 유학생들을 만나 친해질 수도 있었다. 중국유학생 문화·관광 체험행사로 양떼목장, 무등산 전통문화관, 광주 충장로, 5·18기념관, 여수, 순천, 화순, 목포, 나주 등 지역을 답사하며 많은 사람과 교류하한 경험 덕분에 생각도 바뀌고 안목도 키울 수 있었다. 덕분에 대학생활 때는 알지 못했던 광주·전남도 더 많이 알게 되었고, 친구와 가족들에게도 자신있게 가이드할 수 있는 자신감도 생겼다. 다시 한번 인턴십 기회를 마련해준 광주국제교류센터에 감사드리며, 회사생활에 필요한 실무 능력과 더불블어 업무, 생 활, 기술, 관계, 행사, 교육 등 모든 것을 배울 수 있었던 광주관광컨벤션뷰로에도 감사드린다. 모든 직원 분들이 잘 챙 겨주셨지만, 특히 우리 관광마케팅 팀원들 모두 정말 가족처럼 챙겨주셔서 짧지만 3달 반 동안 정이 많이 들었다. 덕분 에 정말 유익한 인턴생활을 보낼 수 있었다. 인턴십이 끝나가니 시원하기도 하지만 한편으로는 섭섭하고 아쉬운 마음 이 더 크게 느껴진다. 이번 인턴십을 통해 나의 마음가짐도 새로이 하고, 진로와 적성을 탐색하는 시간도 가질 수 있었 던 것 같다. 모두 감사합니다.

Goodbye, Memorable Times in Internship Zhao Dongxue (China, Gwangju Convention & Visitors Bureau)

As I was looking for something that could make my last semester in Chonnam university more valuable and challenging, I saw a brochure of the internship program. Since I dreamed of working in a Korean company, I thought the program would be a great opportunity for me so I decided to apply for it, along with some friends. . Finally, we all made it and I was so glad that I could join with my friends.

For the first whole month, we all had orientation at the Gwangju International Center. The topic was mainly about business Korean and Korean culture tourism. During the orientation, I was so happy that I could be friends with other interns. I really appreciate all the instructors and officers for being kind and taking care of all the participants. It was the first time for me to visit the Gwangju Convention & Visitors Bureau during the orientation, and I was so interested in it due to the fact that tourism has been popular as people travel a lot these days. Fortunately, I was in the tour marketing team here. Before I started this program, I was so afraid of new challenges. However, since I started to work, I realized that I used to worry about very tiny things that I don’t have to worry about. After I was placed in the team, I started to work right away.

The tour marketing team manages works like translation for attracting tourists, incentive tours, culture exchange activities for foreign youth, and SNS supporters to support Gwangju. Also, the team promotes tour and cultural infrastructures in Gwangju & Chonnam in order for Gwangju, the center of Asian culture, to lead all over the world, as well as becoming the central city of international tourism. My main job was collect-

ing SNS supporters’ posting and noticing the topic, holding culture and tourism experience event for Chinese students and translation and promoting Gwangju through Chinese tour websites. On the first day of work, I got my own phone but I was afraid of answering it. One day, I was the only person in the office so I had to get the phone, and it turned out to be nothing to be afraid of. On the second week, I got my own business card. It was the very first business card in my life so I was really happy. I also had the chance to participate in other companies ’ events. I made name cards for many participants of the 2016 Gwangju Culture Tourism Forum, and I helped registration for visitors on the day, as well as taking pictures during the forum.

Thinking back to those months here, It has been a great experience for me. I was proud of myself for getting compliments from the team leader when I‘ve done much work without any mistakes. Moreover, I could be close to other international students who I met in the ceremony for SNS supporters, and I could widen my perspectives thanks to the exchange experience with many people while visiting various places like a sheep farm, Mudeung Traditional Culture Center, Gwangju 5.18 Memorial Hall, Yeosu, Suncheon, Hwasun, Mokpo, and Naju. It was great to know more about Gwangju & Chonnam, and now I’m confident that I can guide my friends and family.

I really thank GIC for giving me the great opportunity and I also thank Gwangju Convention & Visitors Bureau for the great time to learn about practical abilities like communication, relationship, education, techniques.

It was only three months but I became so close with co-workers. All workers, especially my teammates, took care of me like my family. Thanks to them, I could spend an unforgettable time in the internship. I feel a little glad to finish the program but I feel more likely to be sad. Through this internship, I set my new attitude and goal, and I could have time to know about my interests and path. Thank you everyone!

광주디자인센터에서의 소중한 시간 천위레이 (중국, 광주디자인센터)

저는 전남대학교 4학년 천위레이라고 합니다. 내년 2월 졸업을 앞두고 마지막 학기는 인턴 경험을 쌓고 싶어 광주국제 인턴프로그램에 지원했습니다. 광주디자인센터에서 인턴십을 시작하기 전 한 달 동안에 오리엔테이션이 있었습니다. 한국어 수업과 광주문화탐방을 위 주로 진행하는데 한 달 동안 함께 공부하고 같은 숙소에서 생활하면서 7명 인턴들이 서로 친하게 되었습니다. 특히, 남 도문화탐방을 위해 2박 3일동안 청산도에서 보냈던 시간들이 가장 기억에 남습니다. 날씨가 덥지 않아 여행 가기 참 좋 은 시기였고, 투어 버스를 타고 멋진 풍경이 펼쳐진 청산도 섬도 구경하고, 야외에서 바비큐도 하며 즐거운 추억을 쌓을 수 있었습니다. 모두 다함께 여행한 것이 처음이자 마지막이라 저에게 아주 소중한 추억이 되었습니다. 오리엔테이션이 끝나고 드디어 인턴생활이 시작되었습니다. 칠레에서 온 가브리엘라와 함께 광주디자인센터에서 일하 게 되었는데, 출근 첫 날부터 전체 직원회의에 참여하였습니다. 우리 팀 팀장님께서 회사 전직원 앞에서 저와 가비를 소 개했을 때 긴장했던 것이 아직도 생각이 납니다. 저희는 전시기획팀에 속해서 내년에 개최될 2017광주디자인비엔날레와 관련된 업무를 맡았습니다. 올해는 준비하는

단계라서 많이 바쁘진 않았고 주로 각종 SNS(EG. FACKBOOK, WEIBO 등)를 이용해서 2017년 광주디자인비엔날레 홍보, 해외에서 디자인과 관련된 학교, 기관, 신문사나 집지사의 정보를 수집했으며, 서류 번역이 필요한 경우 번역을 했 습니다. 또한 지역 내 다양한 행사에 참가하여 광주디자인센터와 디자인 비엔날레를 홍보했는데, 광주국제교류센터에서 주최하는 광주국제교류의 날에 참여했고, 2016년 한중일 국제 디자인 학술대회에도 참여했습니다. 근무를 하면서 2017년 디자인비엔날레에 대한 홍보가 약간 부족하다고 생각하여 최근에는 저와 가브리엘라가 함께 홍 보 제안서를 만들고 있습니다. 저희 팀 선생님들이 모두 친절히 저와 가비를 잘 챙겨 주십니다. 늘 저희를 먼저 배려하고 환영식도 마련해 주셨습니다. 아침마다 저는 중국어, 가브리엘라는 영어를 직원들에게 가르쳐주며 더 빨리 친해질 수 있 었습니다. 매달 마지막 금요일 오후에는 직원들이 스트레스를 풀기 위해 여러 가지 클럽활동을 하는데, 저는 볼링클럽 하고 영화클럽에 참가했고 우리 팀 선생님뿐만 아니라 다른 팀의 선생님하고도 친하게 지낼 수 있는 계기가 되었습니다. 광주디자인센터에서 인턴을 하면서 예술적인 지식도 많이 배우게 되었고, 특히 비엔날레와 관련된 정보를 많이 알게 되 었습니다. 그리고 무엇보다도 직장생활을 통해 제 자신의 부족한 부분도 알게 되었고 직장 생활의 예절도 배우게 되었습 니다. 인턴십을 시작한 것이 바로 어제 같지만 이제 겨우 2주만 남습니다. 이별은 늘 슬픈 일인 것 같습니다. 모든 선생 님들께 감사드리며, 늘 건강하시기 바랍니다.

Chen Yulei (China, Gwangju Design Center)

My name is Chen Yulei, and I’m a senior at Chonnam National University. I applied to this internship program because I wanted to work as an intern before graduation.

I had a month-long orientation in August before I started to work at the Gwangju Design Center. In the orientation, many programs were introduced, like Korean class, Gwangju Tour, etc. Also, during the orientation, all the participants lived in the same house, so we had a chance to get closer with each other.

Especially, I remember the 2 night, 3 day Cheongsando Tour to explore Jeollanamdo culture. It was great weather to travel, so we could enjoy our tour. We took a tour bus and saw the beautiful scenery of Cheongsando, and we had a barbecue-style dinner. It was the first and the last tour where we had the opportunity to travel all together, so I remember that as a great time.

After the orientation, our internship began. I started working in the Gwangju Design Center with Gabriella who came from Chile. On the first day of our internship, we joined the general staff meeting. I still remember that moment because I was so nervous when our team leader introduced us to the whole staff.

the 2017 Gwangju Design Biennale through various SNS platforms (eg. Facebook, Weibo), collected information about design from overseas schools, organizations, newspapers and magazines, and we also did translations as the center needed them. Also, we joined many events like Gwangju International Community Day and the 2016 KCJ International Design Symposium, as well aspromoting our design center and the Design Biennale.

Recently, Gabriela and I are making a promotion proposal to increase promotion about the Biennale. Everyone is always kind and considerate and held a welcome party for us. Every morning, I taught Chinese and Gabriela taught English to the staff, so we could get closer with them. Every last Friday of the month, there were many club activities for the staff to get rid of stress, so I signed up for the bowling club and movie club and these activities helped me to get closer with the other teams’ staff. While doing internship in the Gwangju Design Center, I could learn a lot about the Gwangju Biennale and the arts. . Also, I realized my shortcomings and etiquette in the workplace. Time flew really fast, so we only have two weeks left of our internship. Saying goodbye is always sad. I want to say thank you to everyone, and I hope you always stay healthy and happy.

저는 광주디자인센터에서 인턴으로 근무했던 가브리엘라 페인버그입니다. 저는 제 동료 인턴과 함께 광주디자인비엔날 레 전시팀에서 일하게 되었고, 저희는 소셜미디어를 통해 광주디자인비엔날레를 홍보하는 업무와 팀 내에서 여러 가지 지원업무를 맡게 되었습니다. 저희가 하는 일 자체는 그렇게 힘들지 않았지만, 센터?에서 저희가 이 프로그램을 홍보하 는 데에 필요한 양의 정보를 주지 않았기 때문에 약간의 어려움을 겪기도 했습니다. 그래서 이런 점을 극복하고자, 저는 제 동료 위레이와 팀에게 현재 진행되고 있는 홍보 방식에 대해, 그리고 저희가 홍보에 필요한 자료를 받기 위한 홍보 제 안서를 만들기 시작했습니다. 그러나 이 제안서를 3주 전부터 작성하기 시작했기 때문에, 인턴십이 끝나기 전에 완성할 수 있을지는 미정이지만 저희 는 최대한 끝낼 수 있을 만큼 완성시켜보려고 합니다. 제게 있어서 이 인턴십 프로그램은 정말 좋은 경험이었습니다. 하지만 센터가 인턴들에게 더 많은 일과 도전해볼만한 일 을 주었으면 더욱 좋은 시간이 되었으리라 생각됩니다. 그랬다면 센터와 그들이 하는 일과 디자인 산업에 대해 더 많이 배워볼 수 있었을 것이고 더 다양한 일을 해볼 수 있었을 것입니다. 광주디자인센터에서의 인턴으로 근무했던 기간은 정말 좋은 경험이었고, 저희와 함께 일했던 모든 분들이 친절하게 대 해주셔서 더 좋은 시간을 보낼 수 있었습니다. 다만 인턴들에게 더 많은 일을 할 수 있는 기회를 주신다면 더욱 좋은 인 턴십이 될 것 같습니다.

Internship at the Gwangju Design Center Gabriela Fainberg (Chile, Internship at Gwangju Design Center) My name is Gabriela Fainberg and I did my internship at the Gwangju Design Center. My fellow intern and I have been part of the Gwangju Design Biennale exhibition team. Our job has been to support the team as much as possible and to help promote the Design Biennale through social media. Although the essence of our job is not hard, we have had a hard time since the center does not have a lot of means to promote the Design Biennale. This means that, while we have to promote, we have limited information and resources to help us promote. To improve this situation, Yulei and I started a promotion proposal. The purpose of this proposal is to help the team realize that something should be done about the way they promote and to increase the resources available to promote. However, because this proposal was started during the last three weeks, it will not be very complete but we will try to make it as good as possible.

In my opinion the internship is good, but it would be better if the center gave us interns more work and more challenging work. That way we could learn more about the center,what they do and about the industry they are part of, as well as giving us a chance to work more closely with the team and learn from them.

Still, I did like my internship period and I think that all the people we worked with have been very nice and have treated us very well. Having more work would be an improvement and I hope the future interns benefit from this.
