POOL FLICKS 2022 Pool Flicks are back, offering a fun way to beat the growing Southern Arizona heat! Join us this year at West Center for movies every other Thursday evening through June. No tickets or reservations are required—just your GVR or GVR Guest Card. We bend the rules for these events and encourage costumes and fun floatation toys. Just please, no glass containers!
New this year, GVR will be hosting a number of events for members and their guest. Starting immediately with a Mother’s Day brunch on Saturday, May 7 (visit gvrec.org for details), GVR’s new Member Engagement Specialist is also planning a Father’s Day poolside BBQ, Blues, & Beer event in June. We’ll throw this party at Abrego South where Dads and their pals can play a variety of sports or just float in the pool and enjoy the music. A food truck will be on hand to keep folks fed. Watch the eblast and bulletin boards for details and ticket information. Members can look forward to a wide variety of events large and small throughout the year. We plan to showcase member talent and we’ll need volunteers for a variety of tasks. If you are an
entertainer or have a willingness to volunteer and you’d like to be part of the talent pool, email Events@gvrec.org. Got a great event idea? Brandy would love to hear about that, too.

Immediately following the Special Meeting, a work session was convened to begin a discussion about the long-standing problems that have existed on GVR Boards. CEO Somers suggested that the Board engage a consultant to facilitate the establishment of clear roles and responsibilities for this and future boards. At the April 27 Regular Meeting of the Board the following motions were approved by unanimous vote: >

-Acceptance of the 2021 audit in which the independent auditor, HBL CPAs P.C. issued an unqualified opinion of the 2021 financial statements -Approved reverting to the term “transfer fee” vs. “disclosure fee” at the request of area realtors
