Current 2026 Board of Directors Candidates
Each year, member households in good standing elect peers to serve on the Board of Directors. Due to the 2024 bylaw change reducing the Board from twelve to nine members over three years, this year members will elect three Directors to replace Kathi Bachelor, Beth Dingman, Marge Garneau, and Bev Lawless who are completing their terms in March.
A member household in good standing is one with a paid-in-full account by the record date of January 28, 2026. Exceptions include households with finalized dues payment plans or those applying for 2026 dues relief through the Member Assistance Program (MAP).
In In mid-February, all members will receive the Annual Meeting announcement, and members in good standing will receive voter and paper ballot information along with voter codes via mail. Paper ballot requests will be available from February 18–22. Each household may cast one vote. Members owning multiple properties will have their vote multiplied by the number of properties owned. Look for election details in your mailbox around the middle of the month.

All candidates agreed to the following statements:
1. Understand Board of Directors is a three-year term.
2. Understand Board communications is handled through email and GVR website (Board Secured Site), and meetings can be via Zoom.

4. Agree to put the Corporation’s interest above any special interest group.

Question 1: Time commitment can vary significantly depending upon the business before the Board and a Director's committee participation. Typically, the Board and committees hold regular meetings once a month or quarterly, but additional meetings can be scheduled. Are you able to make this type of time commitment?
Marge Garneau: Yes, I can.
Dale Howard: Yes.
Chris McCrummen: Yes, I am able to commit to this important task.
Kristy McCue: Yes, I am fully able to make this time commitment. As a project manager in cybersecurity with a proven track record of managing complex schedules and deliverables, I excel at prioritizing responsibilities. My corporate career involved balancing high-stakes deadlines, team meetings, and strategic planning, often remotely via Zoom. I commit to attending all required meetings including the Candidate Orientation (Jan 22 14, 2026), Forums (March 4 & 11, 2026), Board Meeting (Feb 25, 2026), monthly Board sessions, and committee work as needed.

Question 2: What best describes your motivation for joining GVR Board of Directors?
Marge Garneau: Since I am currently finishing my three-year term on the board, I feel there are some things I would like to see completed. I love GVR and we have had a great retirement here.
Dale Howard: I want to see that GVR members are getting the best value for their money and to have a say in the direction that GVR goes in the future.
Chris McCrummen: Community is everything. We live in exciting and ever-changing times and I am committed to helping continue to grow the GVR Community.
GVR is, I believe, at a pivotal moment. We have an incredible healthy and vibrant community and with a shift in demographics, ever changing housing market.
Kristy McCue: My motivation stems from a deep commitment to community service and enhancing the recreational opportunities for Green Valley residents. It is also driven from a desire to continue to ensure complete health and well-being for the senior population! Having built a successful corporate career in project management and now thriving as a real estate professional in Southern Arizona, I see GVR as vital to our active adult lifestyle. I want to leverage my skills in strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure GVR facilities remain top-tier, financially sound, and responsive to member need. Putting the corporation's overall good as the first priority.
Barry Stock: My wife and I purchased a home in Green Valley four years ago. We now split our time between here and Minnesota. We truly love it here and the facilities and programs offered by GVR. I have always been community minded and believe that my background and skill set can be of assistance in ensuring the longterm sustainability of GVR.
Question 3: Please list any other boards, committees, task forces or volunteer activities in which you have participated in the last ten years.
Marge Garneau: Fiscal affairs committee; Tennis club board member; played pickleball; lapidary; glass arts; artisans shop; and ceramics clubs. I served on the board for six years when we first moved here and was chair of several committees, also served as Treasurer and President. I have been president of the GVR board for the last 2 two years. To my knowledge I never missed a board meeting in person or remotely, and as President I attended all committee meetings.
Dale Howard: I have served on the GVR Fiscal Affairs (FAC) and Investment Committees for the last two years. I have been a board member and the President of the Loretto Tower Condo Assn. in Alton, IL. I am a member of the Atonement Lutheran Men's Club in Florissant, MO. We hold monthly BBQs from April thru October and sell Christmas trees in November-December and raise a significant amount of money for various charitable causes each year.

Kristy McCue: Served on multiple healthcare boards as a project manager, overseeing compliance audits, process improvements, and cross-functional teams for strategic planning and process improvement. Coordinated community volunteer efforts, including event planning and resource allocation for local initiatives in Wisconsin. Active in the HOPE foundation in Tucson. Active in professional networks in project management and real estate.
Barry Stock: Former board member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Savage. Former board member and Vice Chair of the Scott County Community Development Agency. Current board member and Secretary of the Savage Historical Society. Current Committee member serving on the GVR Fiscal Affairs Committee. Current Committee member serving on the GVR Planning and Evaluation Committee.
Question 4: Briefly explain how your education and/or previous life experiences will be beneficial to you as a Director.
Marge Garneau: My husband, Norm, and I retired to Green Valley in 2006 from Colorado. Prior to retiring I was in business management and finance, spending the last six years of my career teaching business at a high school in Grand Junction. I have a Master of Business Administration and currently own a small company here in Green Valley called Dream Catcher Management LLC doing web design/maintenance, bookkeeping services, and small business/ HOA assistance. Stumbling on Green Valley on our way from Quail Creek to Saint George, Utah we played tennis, met some wonderful people and fell in love with this area. In less than three weeks we purchased our current home here and returned to Colorado to sell our mountain home. We moved here in March of 2006 permanently and are year-round residents.
Dale Howard: I spent 21 years in the Air Force and Missouri Air National Guard. Sixteen years were in accounting and finance and five years were in communications and resource management. I did significant work with payroll and budgeting. I have been a church and day school treasurer as well as a school board member. I also worked for Fox Associates, MetroTix, and Magellan Health Services in Information Technology. I was a high school sports official for over 30 years. I have been a member of the GVR FAC and Investment Committees for two years. My experiences give me a strong background in Finance and I have a strong knowledge in the way GVR functions and manages its fiscal affairs as well as learning how GVR operates. My years in IT and as a sports official have provided me with strong people skills and much experience in conflict resolution.
Chris McCrummen: As a career public school teacher, elementary, middle and high school building principal and Federal Way Public Schools Learning Improvement Officer I have had a wealth of opportunities to collaborate and lead individual schools and an entire school district through entire stages of change and initiatives. Further, I have had the opportunity to operate large building and district-based budgets, exceeding $250,000. I truly believe in collaboration through listening, shared leadership and a sense of collective efficacy.
Further, I have a wealth of experience in "Policy Governance." As a building Principal and Learning Improvement Officer I had numerous opportunities to operate under this guiding principle.
I have also been a small business owner of Cork! A Wine Bar in Tacoma, Washington. This incredible experience helped me understand the struggles and innovations of small businesses and the financial intricacies faced in our communities.
I hold a Bachelor Degree in History and Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology and a Certificate in Educational Organization Leadership. Additionally, I hold both a teaching and principal certificate in the State of Arizona.
Kristy McCue: My Bachelor's degree in Social Welfare with an emphasis on Gerontology, combined with my Master's Degree in Finance and 20+ years in corporate project management equips me to handle GVR's governance needs. In my corporate career, I lead multimillion-dollar projects, manage budgets, mitigate risks, and delivered projects on time; skills directly applicable to Board powers like adopting budgets, setting fees, and enforcing rules per the bylaws. My real estate experience adds expertise in property management, market analysis, and community relations, ensuring prudent financial decisions and facility standards that serve all members.
Barry Stock: I have had several full-time employment positions within municipal government spanning a 35-year period. The last thirteen years of which I served as the City Administrator in Savage, Minnesota, a Twin Cities suburb with a population of 32,000. In this role I was responsible for the management and supervision of 165 full-time and 100 part-time employees within the following departments: Administration, Police, Fire, Public Works, Utilities, Engineering, Community Development, Finance, Parks and Recreation, and Liquor. I also oversaw the management and development of the City's annual $17M General Fund Operating Budget and annual Enterprise Fund Budgets in excess $15M. I also directed the annual preparation of the City's ten-year Capital Improvement Plan. During my career I also led numerous construction and/or expansion projects for a variety of city facilities including: Savage Indoor sports dome, Environmental Learning Center, Fire Station, Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Projects, City Hall Expansion project, Public Works Facility Expansion Project and Shakopee Community Center.
Question 5: Describe your use of GVR facilities and participation in GVR activities in the past two years and how your GVR involvement has prepared you to serve on the Board of Directors.
Marge Garneau: Our retirement started with tennis but after injuring my shoulder I tried pickleball, but my shoulder did not like that either. I have now moved to lapidary, ceramics, and glass arts. We use the fitness center at Santa Rita Springs and when the weather warms you may find me at the Madera Vista pool. I have been on the Board for the last two-and-a-half years so feel this qualifies me to serve on the Board in the next three years.
Dale Howard: I use several of the pools, I am a Member of a Dance club with my wife and have served as a Member of the Fiscal Affairs and Investment Committees. I volunteer at several GVR events each
year and have gone to several GVR-sponsored events such as the NASCAR race and the Barrett-Jackson car auction. I attend or watch the videos of the Board and Committee meetings. My wife is active in line dancing, POP tennis, racquetball, pickleball, swimming, and exercise. I have been exposed to many clubs during the last two GVR elections and am able to have an unbiased opinion on many key decisions since t am not directly involved in those groups. I have a strong background in GVR's finances and how the Board operates. Chris McCrummen: My wife and I use the facilities relentlessly here. We live here full time and find ourselves at the pool, pickleball courts and fitness centers daily. We have a large garden plot in the Green Valley Gardners Club and are members as well. Additionally, I have attended GVR Board and Committee Meetings during this past year. We look forward to attending and possibly teaching classes in the future.
Kristy McCue: Over the past three years, I've actively used GVR facilities including fitness centers for wellness routines and attended numerous GVR events. This hands-on involvement has deepened my understanding of member priorities like health and wellness, event spaces, and program efficiency, preparing me to advocate for enhancements that align with GVR's recreational mission
Barry Stock: I am very fitness minded and you can typically find me utilizing the fitness equipment at several of the GVR centers. After a workout I generally enjoy a dip in the spa or pool. I also play pickleball several times a week. I also am looking forward to spending more time playing shuffleboard, billiards, and bocce ball in the future. My wife and I have also taken several classes offered by GVR. This past year I also assisted the GVR Pickleball Club by serving on their Facility Improvement Steering Committee. Additionally, this past year I have had the privilege to serve as a member on the GVR Fiscal Affairs Committee and Planning and Evaluation Committee. This experience has provided me with a solid understanding of the organization’s financial operations and policies presently in place. I have a solid understanding of the challenges that face GVR in the future with respect to maintaining the quality services and facilities that our members have become accustomed to.
Question 6: What would you like to accomplish in the three years as a Board Director?
Marge Garneau: I would like to finish the projects we started as a board. These include but are not limited to the Woodworkers expansion, lapidary consolidation, and South Abrego Pool. The main accomplishment for me is to represent the members and be an informed board member.
Dale Howard: GVR faces several significant challenges in the next few years. We have made many upgrades to our existing clubs and in the next two years we will complete some of the last remaining major club requests. We will be working on our next five-year strategic plan and working out ways to ensure that we have sufficient reserves for our facilities (including pools and spas} as costs continue to rise and our facilities get older. There will be challenges to keep our dues at a reasonable level as welt.
Chris McCrummen: First and perhaps foremost, I believe it is my job to listen, learn, and collaborate. I do not have an agenda, what I
have is an open and collaborative mind and spirit. I would like to see GVR membership continually grow in both members and activities. I believe we are changing and that change will require a team approach and a heavy lift. Further, I would like to see GVR maintain its focus on fiscal responsibility and as a Board member I would understand the importance of Policy Governance in decision making and guiding principles.
Ultimately, when GVR launches the five-year strategic plan, reaches those goals through collaboration and a team approach then I will have achieved my goal.
Kristy McCue: In three years, I aim to: Strengthen fiscal reserves through data-driven budgeting and cost efficiencies, drawing from my corporate financial oversight.
Help develop a long-term strategic plan that supports the organization financially and upholds the mission.
Enhance facility standards and member programs via strategic planning committees like Fiscal Affairs and Planning & Evaluation.
Improve governance transparency and member engagement by refining policies and digital communications, ensuring GVR remains a premier nonprofit serving our community's active lifestyle.
Support initiatives that improve and sustain member well-being.
Barry Stock: 1. Assist in the development and completion of the GVR strategic plan. This would include the development of public engagement process to obtain input from members on desired service levels and financial commitment to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
2. The establishment of performance measures that can be used to evaluate the continuation and/or modification of programs and services offered by GVR.
3. The adherence to the following core values: Customer Service, Teamwork, Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability.
4. Upon completion of membership survey, review of financial policies to ensure that they are in alignment with the member interests.
5. Continuance of quality program and facility service delivery.
BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
In a regular meeting on Wednesday, January 28, the Board of Directors took the following actions:
• Approved the BAC recommended 2026 Ballot and Bylaw amendment rationales
• Approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between GVR and the GVR Foundation on a capital campaign
• Approved a new dance club
• Temporarily adjusted the investment allocation strategy for the MRR B pool designated fund
• Approved Corporate Policy Manual 2.3.1 to 2.3.4 Board meeting and minutes
2026 ELECTION
Every year, households in good standing take part in electing trusted peers to serve the community on the Board of Directors. The slate of candidates running for the GVR Board of Directors includes Marge Garneau, Dale Howard, Chris McCrummen, Kristy McCue, and Barry Stock. These individuals are eager to bring their expertise and dedication to shaping GVR’s future.
IMPORTANT DATES
January 28: Record date—To be eligible to vote, members need to have paid all outstanding dues by this date or have submitted an application for MAP or for a monthly dues payment plan.
February 16–18: Notice of Annual Meeting; voting instructions are mailed to the member address on file with GVR
February 18–22: Paper ballots requested by phone
February 25: Candidate Meet & Greet in the West Center lobby (after the Board of Directors’ meeting)
March 4: Wine & Cheese Candidate Forum: Canoa Hills Palo Verde room, 5pm
