Each year, member households in good standing elect four of their peers to sit on the Board of Directors for a 3-year term. A member household in good standing is one whose membership account is up to date by the “record date” set as January 30, this year. The exceptions to this rule are: • households which have finalized arrangements for a monthly dues payment plan • households that have applied for 2024 dues relief through the Member Assistance Program (MAP) In mid-February, members will receive voter codes via traditional and electronic mail. Each eligible household may submit ONE vote. A member who owns more than one home will receive a single voter code unless they request a separate code for each property they own. Using a single voter code, their vote will be counted for each home they own. To request separate voter codes, email NanciM@gvrec.org. GVR’s elections are managed by a professional third party. Vote-Now.com manages elections for community associations in fifteen states. They offer GVR members two ways to vote: online and via requested paper ballot. Members without an email address and who requested a paper ballot last year will be mailed a ballot along with the election information. Find details on the election information notice arriving in your mailboxes in mid-February.

Application Responses from the 2024 GVR Board of Directors Candidates: Dave Barker, Carol Crothers, Candy English, Christine Gallegos, Steve Gilbert, Bart Hillyer, Dale Howard, Nellie Johnson, Richard Sutherland Time commitment can vary significantly depending upon the business before the Board and a Director’s committee participation. Typically, the Board and committees hold regular meetings once a month, but additional meetings are often scheduled. Are you able to make this type of time commitment? Barker: Yes Crothers: Yes English: Yes, I am available for all commitments. Gallegos: Yes Gilbert: Yes Hillyer: Yes Howard: Yes Johnson: Yes, I am able to make this time commitment. I have served on GVR committees and understand the meeting schedules. I’ve been able to attend the meetings in person or by Zoom. I also am committed to reading the materials and being prepared for board meetings so that I can constructively participate in discussions. Lastly, my two kids were married in the past two years, so I have more time to devote to this board position. Sutherland: Definitely yes

What best describes your motivation for joining GVR Board of Directors? Barker: My wife and I love Green Valley. I’d like to help continue to keep GVR the best value anywhere in the active adult communities. Crothers: I’ve served on the GVR Board in the past and believe GVR is a very special, unique organization. It takes work to protect the GVR values that members appreciate and there is a rather steep learning curve. I believe our members should come first and the Board needs to insist upon sound fiscal management, keeping our facilities open/available to our members and data driven decision making for major capital projects. English: One of the major reasons for our move to Green Valley was the vast amount of interests offered by GVR. There is no other recreational organization in the US that has so many convenient locations, quality facilities, and professional instructors. I want to ensure that GVR continues and thrives with the reputation of excellence! Gallegos: Having previously served a 3-year term on the GVR board, I’m running again because I’m disappointed with revolving boards who’ve prioritized and rewarded
