Letter from the President Did You Know?
JOINING GVR CLUBS IS EASY
Did you know that GVR boasts nearly 60 diverse clubs, catering to interests for arts and crafts, games, dance, social activities, and sports? Joining these clubs is a fantastic way to meet new friends, explore hobbies, and engage in the community.
1. Reach out via email: Visit the GVR website to find club contact information. Email the club that interests you and inquire about membership details.
2. Ask for trial opportunities: Many clubs offer trial periods. Ask if you can attend a few meetings or activities to see if the club is the right fit before committing.
3. Attend club events: Participate in events to get a feel for the group’s dynamics and offerings. It’s a great way to meet members and learn more about the club’s culture and opportunities.
Joining a GVR club is a breeze and a rewarding way to enrich your social life and personal interests.

We must have had close to 200 members come see the new Del Sol Clubhouse at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 4th. The pool players were playing, people were talking, and everyone seemed to enjoy the new facility. A job well done to Scott Somers and his staff! Scott is still looking at the food issue, vendor or otherwise.
The Board will be meeting with the West Center clubs --Woodshop, Lapidary, and Artisans—to find out their potential space expansion needs and will determine what if anything can be accomplished to meet these needs. Nothing to report to you on this one yet.
Scott is planning to move all the member services staff to a new home in the West Center lobby. Watch for these changes. There will be one place to go get our membership cards, tickets and other GVR offerings along with a beautiful facility to show off to new members.
We have had some recent instances of member code of conduct violations. If a member is found to have violated the member code of conduct, their access to GVR facilities may be removed for a period of time. Let’s all please remember to be kind to one another.
GVR is a pet-free environment. If you have an ADA Service Animal (dog or miniature horse) that has been trained to provide a service to support your disability, and if the animal remains under your control at all times, that service animal is welcome. GVR does not permit emotional support animals.
We will have three Board seats open this next election. Please contact Nanci Moyo at NanciM@GVRec.org if you are interested in running. We meet in a work session each month (if we need one) and then the last Wednesday of the month is the regular meeting of the Board.
Just a reminder, you can contact us through board@GVRec.org, come to committee meetings and/or join us for the monthly Board meetings.
—Marge Garneau, Board President
