Some is better for garments while other are best as a rug or art vessel. Students will be taught to determine the difference between the wools and determine the shrinkage factor. Students will go home with a sample to begin creating a reference book and the skills to move into the fascinating world of wet felting, Nuno Felting and more. Advanced classes to follow.

Students will learn about line, shape, color values, and texturing while using the shrinking characteristic known to wool fibers to set all of the fibers permanently. Color theory will be discussed and then applied to the project—all the while students will be encouraged to add this new technique to their skill set. Students will leave with a beautiful work of art that they can wear or add to a garment. This class will intrigue even the most cautious artist. The mystery of interlocking wool fibers with other fibers into a bowl-shaped vessel will push the creative spirit. Students will learn the shingling technique of layering fibers to keep the vessel sides even while using the shrinking characteristic known to wool fibers. Color theory will be discussed and then applied to the project all the while students will be encouraged to cut into the vessel to reveal colors placed on the inside. Students will leave with a great understanding of design, shaping felt, and layering of fibers to create a beautiful work of art.

Strategies for a Low-Maintenance Landscape

If you’re confused about landscape care or are tired of a drab-looking landscape, this study group is for you. Most landscapes are over maintained, pruned, and irrigated in ways that are wasteful, expensive, and create unhealthy plants. Pruning is one landscape task that, when done right, can save time and money and keep plants healthier, more beautiful, and more resilient. When properly irrigated, plants have a stronger root system and appear lusher while requiring less water.

The Magical, Mysterious World of Moths

As part of the 13th annual National Moth Week, this class explores the incredible diversity, intriguing biology, and importance of moths. About ten times more diverse than their butterfly cousins, moths are often dismissed as drab nocturnal pests. That couldn’t be more wrong! While some species are not brightly colored and a small minority of moths do things, as caterpillars, we wish they wouldn’t do, many moths are stunningly colored and beautifully patterned. The class also introduces the pastime of mothing. Join for a look at these wondrously diverse, beautiful, and important animals.

Program Design is aimed at members who want to learn to train on their own, but want guidance to move in the right direction safely and effectively.

The consultations include:

• complete assessment

• prime and prep warm–up

• corrective exercise strategies  (as needed)

• strength training prescription, and

• cardio prescription

Participants will be walked through the details of the program and provided with appropriate form, reps, tempo, sets, and rest periods. The workout schedule is in six-week cycles and based on individual preferences: twoday splits, three-day splits, four-day splits. The goal is to have members become confident and self-sufficient in their quest to reach personal goals.
