The Big Plastic Count is back from 11-17 March, and we’re really excited to let you know that registration is NOW OPEN!

In 2022, a quarter of a million people from households, schools, businesses and communities across the country made The Big Plastic Count the biggest ever investigation into UK household plastic waste. By counting your plastic waste for 1 week, you helped us to reveal a shocking truth: that the UK throws away 2 billion pieces of plastic every week, only 12% of which is recycled. In 2024, governments will be negotiating a Global Plastics Treaty that could finally phase out plastic production for good. And so, we’re doing The Big Plastic Count again - this time we’ll be using the results to convince UK ministers to lead the way at these talks and push for a really strong treaty. It’s a massive opportunity, but we have to act fast…and we need your help INVITE A SCHOOL TO TAKE PART We believe that young people have the power to help shape the future of the planet. That’s why we want to get as many schools to take part as possible! If you have any connections within the education community - maybe you are friends with a teacher, or perhaps you have a child who is currently in school - we would greatly appreciate your support by helping us to spread the word. We have a dedicated schools page on our website where teachers can register their class, as well as find out about the educational resources that we offer, which you can find at the link below. It would be wonderful if you could share this with a teacher who might want to participate.

The Twelve days of Christmas (or The Everlasting Turkey) On the first day of Christmas, my truelove said to me I’ve bought a big fresh turkey and a proper Christmas tree. On the second day of Christmas, much laughter could be heard As we feasted on our turkey – a most delicious bird. On the third day of Christmas, came the people from next door, The turkey tasted just as good as it had done before. On the fourth day of Christmas, we had the turkey cold. With mashed up spuds and salads, our appetites to hold. On the fifth day of Christmas, outside the snow flakes scurried, But we were nice and warm inside – we had the turkey curried. On the sixth day of Christmas, the Christmas spirit died, The children fought and bickered, and we had the turkey fried. On the seventh day of Christmas, my truelove he did wince, To sit down at the table and be offered turkey mince. On the eighth day of Christmas, the dog ran out for shelter, He’d seen our turkey pancakes and the glass of alka-seltzer. On the ninth day of Christmas, by lunchtime Dad was blotto, He knew the bird was back again, but this time as risotto. On the tenth day of Christmas, we were drinking home-made brew, And as if that wasn’t bad enough we were eating turkey stew. On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Christmas tree was moulting, With chilli, soy and oyster sauce, the turkey was revolting. On the twelfth day of Christmas, we had smiles upon our lips, The guests had gone, the turkey too – we dined on fish and chips! (Anon)

This Sunday with the bible

Every Sunday we have three short passages from the bible to reflect on. There's usually one from the Old Testament - the Jewish bible as well as Christian; one from the life of the early church after Jesus; and one from the gospel stories of Jesus' life.

Have a read Here Here comes the change! This Sunday marks the seasonal move away from the season of Christmas and Epiphany and turns us towards Lent, Holy Week and Easter It’s traditionally called Candlemas and is associated with the light and with Jesus the Light of the world The story is of Jesus presented in the Jerusalem Temple in fulfilment of Jewish teaching
