ExxonMobil reduces oil REGAN ‘GREY BOY’ RODRIGUES FREED AGAIN OF CRUM-EWING’S MURDER production by 90,000

ExxonMobil reduced oil production to 30,000 barrels after experiencing another problem with the flash gas compressor system aboard the oil production ship offshore Guyana.

In a statement Tuesday evening, ExxonMobil Guyana explained that during the final testing phase of the reinstalled flash gas compressor and other components of the system on the

Liza Destiny FPSO, the team encountered an additional problem with the discharge silencer.

This forced ExxonMobil to reduce oil production from 120,000 barrels to 30,000 barrels per day.

A team from SBM Offshore, MAN Energy Solutions and ExxonMobil are on site to assess repairs, with support from engineering experts in Europe and the USA.

ExxonMobil has reduced production to a minimum level that mitigates formation of hydrates in subsea systems, maintains gas injection and fuel gas to the power generators, and minimizes flare.

Relevant government agencies have been notified and we are continuing to work with officials to determine the next best steps.

GUYANESE DESIGNER KILLED IN TRINIDAD

Guyanese Fashion Designer/Model/ Pageant Contestant, Marcus Anthony Singh, has been found dead with multiple stab wounds about his body. He had spent years expressing the need to come home due to the crime wave in Trinidad and Tobago.

Singh, who died at the age of 27, was found in his Amethyst Drive Eldorado

home in Trinidad and Tobago by his roommate in a pool of blood having sustained multiple stabs wounds.

He was wearing two pieces of underwear. The discovery was made just about 6:30 on Tuesday night.

Since the discovery of Singh’s body, the Trinidadian police have started their investigation

by questioning the roommate in relation to the murder.

Singh, according to individuals, moved to Trinidad and Tobago to pursue his career in the Fashion and Pageantry industry back in 2010 after leaving his call center job.

He reportedly was successful in this career and would have represented Guyana in pageants in the twin-island over the years.

However, due to the crime wave, Singh had told his friends that he planned to moved back to Guyana since things are getting out of control. He even related the fears of being attacked and robbed for the second time.

Those plans were shattered, as the COVId-19 Pandemic hit the country and all borders became closed.

Regan Rodrigues, called “Grey Boy”, has been freed yet again of Political Activist Courtney Crum-Ewing’s murder.

Rodrigues (Grey Boy) was charged for the 2015 gunning down of Courtney Crum-Ewing in Diamond during the height of the election campaign. At the time Crum Ewing was calling on residents in the area to come out and vote but not for the PPP. Rodrigues was committed to stand trial for the murder in the High

Court but was freed after a no-case submission was made by his Attorney. The prosecution had closed their submissions to the court for the trial this morning.

Justice Sandil Kissoon, who presided over the matter looked at evidence along with the arguments put forward

by Gray Boy’s attorney and further dismissed the matter against him. He noted that the evidence of the prosecution failed to substantiate that Grey Boy was indeed the murderer.

This is the third time that Grey Boy has been freed of the charge. In 2018 he was also freed in the Magistrate’s Court by Magistrate Judy Latchman but she was later ordered by the Direct of Public Prosecution to have him committed to stand in the high court for the murder.

This came after Magistrate Latchman insisted that the evidence against Grey Boy was not enough for him to stand a High Court trial for the second time.

Evidence put forward by the Prosecution was the fact that even though a gun was found with Grey Boy, no evidence pointed to him being the trigger man.

Crum-Ewing, a father of three, was gunned down at Third Avenue, Diamond while urging residents to vote at the May 2015 General and Regional Elections.

Driver killed in two-car collision

The Guyana Defense Force lost one of his own in a fatal accident at Homestretch Avenue, following a two-car collision last night.

Dead is 36-year-old, Brain Mitchell of Craig Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.

According to reports, the accident occurred just after 21:00 hours last night.

At that time, Mitchell accompanied by his

seven-year-old son in the car was heading west on Homestretch Avenue, while the other driver, Taishan Shankar, and a female passenger were headed in the opposite direction.

It was at that moment, Shankar after the accident related to the police, that he was in the vicinity of the Help and Shelter when he saw Mitchell overtake another vehicle and come into his lane.

As a result, the two cars collided, injuring all occupants including Mitchell’s seven-yearold son, who suffered a broken leg.

Mitchell sustained multiple injuries to his body and was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Shankar was later taken into custody as the investigation continues.

PONZI SCHEMER BERNIE MADOFF DIES IN PRISON NEW YORK – Bernie Madoff, the financier who pleaded guilty to orchestrating a massive Ponzi scheme, died in a federal prison early Wednesday, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. He was 82.

Madoff died at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina, apparently from natural causes, the person said. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity.

Last year, Madoff’s lawyers filed court papers to try to get him released from prison in the coronavirus pandemic, saying he had suffered from endstage renal disease and other chronic medical conditions. The request was denied.

Madoff admitted swindling thousands of clients out of billions of dollars in investments over decades.

A court-appointed trustee has recovered more than $13 billion of an estimated $17.5 billion that investors put into Madoff’s

business. At the time of Madoff’s arrest, fake account statements were telling clients they had holdings worth $60 billion.

For decades, Madoff enjoyed an image as a self-made financial guru whose Midas touch defied market fluctuations.

A former chairman of the Nasdaq stock market, he attracted a devoted legion of investment clients — from Florida retirees to celebrities such as famed film director Steven Spielberg, actor Kevin Bacon, and Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax.

But his investment advisory business was exposed in 2008 as a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme that wiped out people’s fortunes and ruined charities and foundations. He became so hated he had to wear a bulletproof vest to court.

Madoff pleaded guilty in March 2009 to securities fraud and other charges, saying he was “deeply sorry and ashamed.”

Passport Office to provide services 100 persons per day

The Central Immigration and Passport Office at Camp Street, Georgetown, will only be providing services to a limit of 100 persons daily.

this change is due to the COVID-19 pandemic which requires that all agencies and businesses operate within the established COVID-19 guidelines.

The 100 persons per day limit is instituted on

working days between Monday and Friday and will remain in effect until further notice. The passport office will process 50 persons commencing at 07:00hrs and another 50 at 11:30hrs. A number system will be in effect for

order.

The decision comes after a video shared on social media showed long lines at the Central Immigration and Passport Office at Camp Street, Georgetown.

Immigration and Passport Offices located at Camp Street, Georgetown; New Amsterdam, Berbice; and Linden. There, persons can make applications and uplift Passports. At Springlands, Berbice; Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast; Parika, East Bank Essequibo; Lethem and Bartica persons can only uplift passports.

Madoff was sent to do what amounted to a life sentence at Butner Federal Correctional Complex, about 45 miles northwest of Raleigh, N.C. A federal prison website listed his probable release date as Nov. 11, 2139.

Madoff was born in 1938 in a lowermiddle-class Jewish neighborhood in Queens. In the financial world, the story of his rise to prominence — how he left for

Wall Street with Peter in 1960 with a few thousand dollars saved from working as a lifeguard and installing sprinklers — became legend.

In the 1980s, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities occupied three floors of a midtown Manhattan high-rise. There, with his brother and later two sons, he ran a legitimate business as middlemen between the buyers and sellers of stock.

At Madoff’s sentencing in June 2009, wrathful former clients stood to demand the maximum punishment.

Madoff himself spoke in a monotone for about 10 minutes. At various times, he referred to his monumental fraud as a “problem,” “an error of judgment” and “a tragic mistake.”

He claimed he and his wife were tormented, saying she “cries herself to sleep every night, knowing all the pain and suffering I have caused.”

“That’s something I live with, as well,” he said.

TWO LUSIGNAN PRISONERS HOSPITALISED

Two Lusignan prisoners are now hospitalized with chop and stab wounds that resulted from a fight on Sunday.

In statement from Guyana Prison Service, the fight resulted from an argument at 19:55hrs between 26-year-old, Gerald Jones, a resident of Buxton, ECD and 26-year-old, Kaley Roberts of Blue Berry

Hill, Linden.

It is unclear what may have started the fight, but the prison has so far indicated that Jones and Roberts It was then that Jones armed himself with an improvised cutlass and dealt Roberts several chops about his body.

Roberts in response armed himself with an ice pick and stabbed Jones in the region of his

chest.

With both men wounded, they were parted, and taken to the infirmary for medical attention, and later transferred to Georgetown, where they are said to be receiving further treatment for their injuries.

The two men’s condition is said to be stable.

Missing North West youth was strangled (NWD) Region One, who was reported missing since April 5, and later found today floating in the Arakaka River in the North West District was reportedly strangled according to the post mortem examination.

The PME was done

by Dr Nehaul Singh. It revealed the cause of death as asphyxiation due to compression to the neck, consistent with manual strangulation.

As such, the body was handed over to relatives for burial arrangements as the investigation also will continue.

Just last Thursday Fernandes’s body was in a state of decomposition in the river. It was discovered between 07:00 hrs and 11:45 hrs by a party of Policemen along with Keith Alphonso, the man that Fernandes worked for.

No marks of violence were found on the body, 20-year-old, Avinash Mabaruma Compound, then, according to the Fernandes called “Avi” of North West District police.
